Love Sugarlips! The bakery is adorable and so inviting when you walk in, and the staff was great to work with. They did our wedding cake last weekend and it was exactly what we had imagined! It was absolutely gorgeous, and delicious! We got so many compliments on it. They were very reliable, always on the ball when I dropped in to make a payment or drop off the flowers/cake topper, and they showed up on time for delivery. Everything went smoothly from our first appointment up until the end. The servings were very generous, we actually had the whole bottom tier leftover, so of course I have been eating delicious wedding cake all week... and my waistline is showing it. We used Sugarlips as our baker for our wedding cake. Their tasting appointment was great and customer service was always good. They worked well with our budget and presented different options for us to choose from. They delivered the cake as promised and not only was it exactly how I envisioned it, it tasted great!! The reason for only 4 stars is because there was a HUGE eggshell in the cake...I know sometimes that happens but considering the size of the shell I don't know how it was overlooked. I stopped in to try out their cupcake happy hour. How fun is that? I got there just after 1:00, took a number and waited my turn. I was so worried that they would run out of pink champagne before my turn, but they didn't. Yay! I thought for sure that would be my favorite (they smell incredible!) and I loved them, but the pecan pie cupcakes knocked my socks off! Really picture-pretty cake. Unfortunately it was literally like pouring a bag of sugar in your mouth. Way too sweet. Slight after taste. Cute biz name but the staff was stiff, polite but bordering on unfriendly. They gave meh customer service when we came in and throughout the process. The first quote for delivery was less than final quote. Sorry but a quote is a quote. Don't say what you don't mean. Also, my husband is battling cancer. We had to shrink our guest list due to non vaccinated guests. I called (they are closed on Sunday AND Monday) left a message asking to go down one size in cake. Bland, slow talker calls me back to say they couldn't accommodate me because the baker had measured her ingredients-- five days before baking the cake. Lol. Maybe that's how it's done but the delivery was off. My final thoughts: Too bad the baker didn't hold off on some of that sugar when she was measuring. We will go back to AJ's for cakes. Not as fancy but delicious and more importantly, they provide good customer service. read more

Amazing cupcakes and service. Every Wednesday throughout the summer they had a special theme. We went every week with a group of kids and the place was decked out in the certain theme and fun activities for everybody to enjoy. Superhero week, western week, glow in the dark week.....it was truly amazing the amount of work they put in each week to spoil the kids. Our wedding venue works with this bakery as a preferred vendor, and we already had a consultation set up to taste cakes in a few weeks. We were in the area during business hours so we stopped in today to taste some cupcakes. We got rocky road, red velvet, and the circus animal cupcakes. I can't tell you how disappointed I was. They were not bad, but they were not wow or amazing by any means. The only word I can think of to describe all 3 flavors was "basic" and the chocolate one actually tasted pretty funny. Needless to say I will be cancelling our consultation with them after tasting the cupcakes. My wedding cake needs to be WOWZA good! Honestly, I've had better tasting cupcakes from some of the more expensive $8 specialty boxed brands. So disappointing. read more

I came in and bought a cake and I drove home, got the cake out and headed to my fridge and tripped and dropped the cake on the floor. sugarlips cakery was awesome and let me bring it back to have the frosting redone and it looked like new. PERFECTION! We found them as a preferred vendor through Superstition Manor. We made the appointment and went and tasted their cakes. They were delicious! We sat down with a cake designer and she took all our ideas and drew it out right in front of us so we had an idea of what we wanted. We were thrilled. However, i began follwing them on Instagram and noticed that alot of people were giving them themes and then letting them have free reign on the designs and the images i saw were AMAZING. So a week before my wedding i literally walked in and said "i want to change my design." the lady looked at me like i was crazy lol then i said "we are doing a star wars theme so forget everything we told you before, design wise, and do your thing." OMG AM I SO HAPPY WE DID THAT! The cake was freaking awesome! It was WAY BETTER then anything we could have come up with and it tasted great. We had come here before and I loved their champagne cupcake. I was in the area and decided to stop by a second time before picking my cat up for a vet appointment and the outside was decorated Harry Potter theme. I went inside and there was an awesome little Harry Potter event going on with the staff fully dressed up and a free cupcake when you picked from the sorting hat! So much unexpected fun for a Wednesday afternoon. I chose some cupcakes and received my free Harry Potter themed cupcake. I absolutely loved the butterbeer, champagne, and chocolate frosted cupcakes. I love this place. I've bought a few special cakes there & they did not disappoint, especially the pink champagne cake for my daughters sweet 16. Happy hour is a bonus. As I don't live in that area I found myself near there yesterday. I had to stop in. I bought some cupcakes to get my sugarlips on. Our experience with Sugarlips for our wedding is like a roller coaster! The tasting and experience with the gal in charge was awesome! We picked a very simple three tier cake which came out beautiful. However, we live very close (less than a mile) and the fee for delivery seemed a little ridiculous so we decided we would pick it up. I paid for the cake well in advance and as the big day approached with so many things to get done as weddings go, my mom decided to ask them to deliver. Their approach to this was pretty much that we were an inconvenience and that there were going to be more fees due to lack of notice. Please keep in mind they are closed Sunday and Mondays, so it was not that we were trying to give them short notice. Also, after my mom called them they called to confirm with me as the bride (totally understand), but instead of leaving me a voicemail just kept calling! We decided to just pick up the cake the morning of the wedding. My Aunt said customer service is most certainly not "their thing." However, the cake was DELICIOUS and believe it or not was GONE! I would definitely refer them with a warning tag. read more

Me and my bf just went here a few min ago. So good. Owner was really nice and talkative and she let me have more than one sample of vanilla cake she had at the front. I can see why everyone likes this place and the cupcake happy hour is a good deal. One dollar for a cupcake. Bf had irish coffee and i had a vanilla sprinkle which all of the available cupcakes today had an irish/st patricks theme to them. They go fast since i saw several groups come in, disappointed with the lack of selection since they didnt come in earlier so i suggest you come in early before everyone snatches them up by the half dozen. The cupcakes are average in freshness and flavor when picking up spontaneously from store. I think they were a little dry. The flavor is ok seem to miss a little wow factor. I almost didn't try this place due to tone of FAQ answers on website. It's nice to have a local place though instead of chain. read more

Extremely disappointing customer service experience. I won't go into the details since the owner already knows the issue yet she still refuses to even offer an "I'm sorry that happened". Their cakes taste great but not good enough to treat paying customers poorly. I even waited to leave a review to see if she would respond to my last email and do the right thing and at least apologize for the horrible customer service experience and she has yet to respond. I went for the 1st time today. The staff was friendly. The place was inviting. The cupcakes were pretty. I was very disappointed in the quality. I am a home baker and maybe too critical. I purchased a 1/2 dozen, vanilla, triple chocolate, salted caramel, carrot cake, lemon raspberry and Boston cream. The cakes were very dry and none of the flavors popped. The lemon raspberry was the worst. They did not have good lemon flavor and the raspberry filling tasted fake. The Boston cream is not a true Boston cream. They should have a custard filling and fudge icing. My husband said I wasted my money. I am hoping that this was just an off day. However if this is your everyday quality, I cannot recommend your shop. read more
