But since it was accidentally posted and the business responded, I'll take the time to finish it now and address the response. Updating my review: When Leilani left, things changed. Everyone is friendy enough, but it felt less friendly and accommodating and more sterile. Also, the care of service seemed to go down a bit (or perhaps they lack experience with more coarse hair textures like mine) and I suddenly started getting lots of ingrown hairs resulting in spots I didn't have prior to Leilani leaving. Part of me switching to sugaring versus shaving was to avoid exactly this. The business responding on the importance of exfoliation and such between visits. I actually take offense to this response. Because I am well educated on skin care, particularly for my black hair and skin. Not only do I exfoliate regularly amongst many other protocols for avoding ingrowns, but I purchased Sugaring LA's $60 serum after one of the new girls began waxing me to try to remain a client despite the build up of ingrown hairs that had less to do with me and more with the way I was being sugared. It isn't uncommon that people not of darker races aren't familiar with the more coarse hair types make these errors. It is always nice though when they try versus suggesting the client add more product or otherwise to their routine when the previous sugarers had succeeded in avoiding such issues (I had another amazing sugarer here prior to Leilani and also never had ingrown issues with her). Also, the new location while very cute, isn't super convenient for disabled and drop off at the front door due to that main street not being set up. I am very aware that location was there for two years since I was a regular client of Sugaring LA since 2016. I just did not update my review until I had regular experience at another place after I left here. I found another place I feel more accommmadated at in all aspects. First, let me say that I am a baby when it comes to pain, which is why I stopped waxing years ago. I got tired of the burnt skin and the paid after getting waxed. The shaving bumps and irritation brought me to sugaring. I booked the same day because I thought I might regret booking and cancel. I went in for a bikini service since it is my husband's birthday and we are going to spend the day at a resort pool. My sugarist was Mia. From the greeting until the end, she was a professional. She kept talking to me to keep my attention away from the pain, she gave me breaks when I needed and explained every step. It still hurt, but not as bad as waxing. So all of the sugarists and most of the receptionists are all really great! Zero complaints about how well the results are. My only complaint here is that they recently had a price increase. Even with a discount it's still a pretty pricey service. Great deals for first time visitors though, so check that out. Today, I called to see if I could stack my birthday coupon with another discount and was told I could. So I booked to come in a few hours later. Receptionist checked me out without giving me the price and just sent the receipt to my email. As I was leaving I checked it and saw the price didn't have my usual discount and the additional birthday. I went to bring this to her attention and she initially said it would just be my normal discount next time... okay but I came in today because I was expecting a certain price because we are budgeting for vacation literally the next day. She seemed annoyed when I asked if we could fix it. She voided the first transaction which is still on a hold on my account, again frustrating because we leave for vacation tomorrow and that's fund's we can't access until the hold drops. So she tries again and it was still the same price, I tell her that something still isn't right and she then gives me a new price. I pay it, and leave and again check my receipt in the car. It still wasn't done correctly. Normally it wouldn't be an issue, but because we had a specific budget for this one month its really frustrating. I'm not sure I'll be coming back with these new prices and honestly a receptionist who was kind of rude. There's lots of shops I'm the area, so I may check around to see how they are. But again, all the sugarists are great so if you can afford it then I definitely recommend! Just make sure you have them give you the price before they take payment automatically. read more
