I booked a bikini wax and did not state a preference for the technician. Riley ended up doing my Brazilian and she was excellent! She talked to me throughout to distract me from the pain, but honestly it was not that painful. I was surprised that my skin was not super red afterward. She offered me a rosewater wipe to use prior the waxing and the treatment room was clean. She did a thorough job and used an oil by the brand Fur to finish, and I decided to purchase the travel rollerball, which totally helped eliminate any ingrown hairs or red bumps that were trying to come out. I kept using the rollerball for weeks after, and no ingrowns! I shopped around the boutique after my treatment and was astounded at the reasonable prices on the super cute clothes, jewelry, and other accessories and fun things in the shop. I left with a dress, a couple cute tops, a bracelet and earrings by Scout (love that brand), and a travel candle, plus the Fur rollerball. I believe the Brazilian bikini wax was $65, and I left a nice tip and walked away with fun new stuff without spending a ton over my gift card amount of $115. Side note--the toilet would not flush when I used their restroom, and let them know, so they shut it down for customer use while I was there. I think it's an older building and perhaps sensitive plumbing. This did not affect my experience in any way. Overall I recommend Riley and this awesome little boutique if you live near the Carlsbad area or are visiting!

However, when I called again on another occasion to try to make a new appointment, I was told that she actually does provide that service. Today, I called again specifically requesting Tara, and once again I was told that she does not do gel manicures and that if I wanted that service, I would need to book with someone else. I completely understand if the nail technician I want is unavailable at the time or on the day I'm requesting. That is not the issue. The problem is receiving conflicting information and feeling like my request for a specific technician is repeatedly being disregarded. This has happened before as well. I once requested a pedicure with Tara and was booked with someone else instead. The receptionist has also been rude, confused appointment times, and then blamed the clients for the confusion. It's extremely frustrating because when you find a nail technician whose work you love, you naturally want to continue booking with that person. Instead of simply being honest about Tara's availability, I have repeatedly been given inconsistent information or booked with someone else. Tara is wonderful and does excellent work. My review is not a reflection of her service at all. Unfortunately, the way appointments are handled at the front desk has made me no longer want to return to this salon

Cons: You could hear different music from other rooms plus your own, which was distracting. Headrest was so tight that I was in pain, but didn't realize until I turned over. Those are adjustable! Ask to have it adjusted if you are uncomfortable. Oils were supposed to be infused with eucalyptus, but I didn't smell anything. So there wasn't an aromatherapy aspect, which was disappointing. I'm on the fence about coming back.

The vibe in the salon was great! All of the ladies working in the shop were so fun and upbeat and chatty. The environment was great and it made me feel better after having a hard day. The salon interior is also clean and tidy. The gel mani was done by Tory. She is so detailed. I can tell she has very high standards for her work and is very skilled. She was precise and I noticed that she paid extra attention to cleaning up the gel with a brush to make sure it didn't get on my skin. Her attention to detail can be rare to find at other salons. I don't have pictures of my pedicure but it was okay - I didn't love how my nails were shaped but it was fine and the polish stayed on for a long time which was great. The pedicure was good overall. This was definitely the best nail salon I've tried in north county and I will have to come back another time.

I've been sugaring for only a short time and only with Sugaring LA and I have to say I will never go anywhere else! The sugarists are very sweet, truly love what they do and really know what they are doing. Lauren in Carlsbad did my first bikini line and didn't make me feel uncomfortable or insecure, and the conversation held made me at ease that she knew what she was doing and confident. Sugaring has changed they way I do hair removal and is worth letting it grow out for a bit. After my first underarms the hair that grew back was finer and thinner and seemed truly lighter, which has truly changed my life! This organic process of hair removal, although a little uncomfortable at first, is definitely worth a try! read more

Im so happy with my new smooth legs! This was a first for me, so I learned a couple things about myself and some tips and tricks for my next visit, because Im already obsessed. Def make sure you are exfoliating and hydrating your skin, this will help with the "discomfort" factor as the less dead skin the sugar picks up, the better it will feel, also tylenol is good to take beforehand as well. I had a full leg session and the ease of taking a shower and wearing shorts or a dress without having to worry about stubble, even after I have just shaved it the best feeling! I went in for my first sugaring experience, and I think I am going to be hooked on this method of hair removal. Kassandra was my esthetician, and she is very personable! She made me feel instantly comfortable. The rest of the staff is friendly also, creating an environment that is far from being pretentious. Kassandra provided me with a clay mask sample so that when my skin "purges" I can remove any toxins. She also included samples of the rose oil she used to finish the sugaring process, and an exfoliant. I had the chance to see how little regrowth there is after both 6 weeks, and 3 months; and I am looking forward to committing to this method so that I can see similar results in the future. read more

Michelle is such a great conversationalist while you are getting sugared. She's caring and I always walk away with zero hairs left, which is what I want! My 1st time sugaring and I had a wonderful experience! Have personally (hard) waxed myself for years and have even tried lasering. Got tired of having to do it myself, esp cause it's painful so I finally gave sugaring a try. I'm glad I did! I felt super comfortable during the whole process and it hurt significantly less than lasering and hard waxing. The only parts that hurt were closer to the labia of course cause that skin is just more sensitive. Haven't gotten any in-growns or no weird reactions to the products they used, which was a HUGE plus to me since I have extremely sensitive skin and eczema. Highly recommend! read more

I've been waxing for about a year and heard about sugaring LA Carlsbad from my friend. I will no longer be waxing! Sugaring is by far better then waxing! No redness or swelling, it's much quicker and less painful then the wax. Julie was great! An ex nurse so I felt really safe having her my first time.
