This is our go to for sushi as it has a nice ambiance, great food, and great service. We ordered 5 of the same order, but for the first 4 courses, only 4 would come out and the 5th person's much later. They continued to apologize and finally at the very end, everything came out together. I know they were trying to get it right and compensated at the end. We will always come back as their food and service never disappoints!

Sushi is always amazing. Can never go wrong with the trust me box. The environment is very nice and clean however, when you place an order, they always take longer than the wait time they give you.

The most mid sugarfish experience ever. The serves had no idea what they were doing and two of them came because one was training. But the trainee did not know how to explain anything, because she was slurring her words, and the other person kept correcting her in front of us. Plates were given out and then taken back...it was a mess. We didn't get our unagi order and they said, "you didn't get it?" Very unprofessional for the establishment that they are. Obviously, food was solid, but usually you go to sugarfish for the "seamless experience" along with the solid quality of the fish, but that wasn't the case this time. RIP

Fantastic sushi and reasonably priced! Still as intimate and compact as your traditional sushi spot, but nowhere near as stuffy. We all went with the "I trust, you decide" option, and our faith was not misplaced! A variety of nigiri and hand rolls after a edamame appetizer. The Otoro was the best cut of fatty tuna I have ever had (I am by no means a sushi expert, but my goodness it was the most succulent piece of fish I have had)! Not only was the service decent and the fish fresh, but VERY reasonably priced especially considering LA prices! Worth a stop on your way through the neighborhood! My only regret was not getting a picture of the fish :(

Coming here is so dangerous for me! I live within walking distance of this location and would come here every day if I could. The sushi here is consistently fresh and always guaranteed to be mouthwatering. You can't go wrong with ordering the Trust Me meals and I also love the Crab handrolls and oftentimes will order a few extra if just those. The restaurant is on the smaller side so you may have to wait during busy times but trust me it's worth it! Takeout is also easy and they present the meals in clean/easy takeout boxes with dividers so the rolls don't touch.

Met a friend for dinner here after work on a Tuesday. Parking is a bit tricky, and I ended up in a garage down an alleyway behind the restaurant. Just be aware that it's pretty dimly lit and the walk was a bit far. Worth it though, cause I love SUGARFISH! We both ordered the Trust Me, which comes with edamame, tuna sashimi in a ponzu and chive sauce, albacore sushi, salmon sushi with toasted sesame, toro hand roll, yellowtail sushi with lemon, blue and dungeoness crab handroll, and instead of the Hirame sushi with yuzu ponzu, I believe we got toro instead. Everything was fresh and delicious. They always have warm rice with their sushi which makes it so much better. Got the uni and another toro on the side as well. Both were great. Our server was very attentive the whole night as well. Overall, a great dinner! I would recommend this location for a more intimate meal as they didn't look like they had tables for large groups.

MAJOR UPDATE: I was reached out by an overseeing manager letting me know to come in again for another try and to get 2 comp a la carte items from the menu. I've always heard good things about sugarfish so decided to give this place a second run, and I'm so happy I did. I was greeted by their manager from the beginning and he explained for the mishap that happened a few weeks ago and that ultimately it was a miscommunication. We proceeded to order the Nozawa Trust Me menu, which all fish were in stock and available and we were so pleased with the quality from start to finish!! Fish is beyond fresh and truly melts in your mouth. We got a round of albacore in the set and it's truly the best albacore I've ever had, so creamy and soft, not as lean as most other places have it. All other items in this set were *chefs kiss and flavor was on point. Portions are excellent and this sushi shop definitely makes you consider quality of quantity (especially since my partner and I usually frequent AYCE locations) As for the comp items we got a limited special of Anago and Hirame. Both were fresh and yummy. We especially loved the Anago (eel) because it was more meaty vs skin, which is usually how eel ends up. Service was impeccable! The manager continuously checked in on us and kept making sure our food was coming out promptly. The experience felt very personable and I appreciated that they took the time to make sure our experience today was nothing but great. Also felt appreciated to know that our reviews are being heavily regarded in their business. Ambiance is clean and tidy. Seating is quite limited, but customers and in and out consistently, so wait times seem manageable. Coming here during the day also brightens up the scene and I preferred this ambiance over the nighttime one since it was brighter and welcoming. Parking can be difficult. We came on a Friday afternoon and had to park a block or two away at a meter, but truly was worth it for the experience we received. After this experience my partner and I are excited to frequent sugarfish more often when we want an upscale sushi dining experience.

First time at this location went for lunch, and we were the first customers of the day. The place looks new, and the service was great--our server was super cool and kept my green tea flowing. I ordered the Trust Me, and we added a bunch of different nigiri. Everything came out quick and flawless, as expected from Sugarfish. I hadn't been in a while, but the quality was still good and fresh. The only downside we had this trip was the rice--it kept falling apart? In the end I'll definitely be back to Sugarfish soon maybe not this location as it is quite far from my house. Also don't forget to sign up for your birthday meal!

The food was fantastic, the fresh fish was da bomb. Quaint place not to big but very comfortable. Our severs were amazing and made sure we got what we needed. When in LA I will fur sure come back.

This place is amazing. Small set menu so not a lot of worrying about what to order. I was blown away with the depth of flavors and overwhelmingly positive textures that I experienced here. The service was so fast and the courses just kept coming. A small restaurant but it was very enjoyable. Will be back. Best sushi I've ever had.

Salty but lacks a depth of flavor. - The truffle sushi roll had a prominent truffle flavor (which I enjoyed, but may not be for everyone). Crunch spider roll was a favorite; just a solid classic with soft shell crab (love that an extra piece of crab is included on top of the roll). The fried onions on top of the Tokyo roll were crispy and sweet. Uni was fresh and delicious! I had uni only one time before and had a bad experience (it was incredibly fishy, and now I realize, not fresh). So I was apprehensive at first but I'm glad I gave it a chance because this uni was buttery, smooth, and briny in all the right ways. - Matcha tea was okay, medium profile matcha flavor. Not bad for the value though. Clean and refreshing. -Might be a small thing to point out, but I like how they include lemon slices automatically in the water. I also like the texture of the ice (evenly crushed and almost like a slush). Service 3.5/5 Not too long a wait for the food. Polite and professional waiters. Snagging a reservation took some time but was worth the effort. Our meal was an incredible experience--the service, the way each course was presented in such beautiful dishware--the meal was a well-planned journey and one of the best dining experiences we've had. We dined here again in January and it's taken me some time to process this experience and put it in words. The dining room interior has been remodeled since our last visit. The atmosphere helps you focus on being present, being in the moment, being still when each course comes. With excited anticipation you take the lid off of the soup bowl or the staff unveils a dish, so your focus is seeing, smelling, feeling, tasting and enjoying the first bite and all the flavors in the dish before you. What a fun experience! Chef Niki is so creative, thoughtful, deliberate in how she plans her guests' meals. We enjoyed meeting her at the end of our meal and having the opportunity to thank her for the care and attention she gives to all. We look forward to coming here again when we're able to get to L.A.

We have been lucky enough to dine at 1,2 & 3 Star Michelin restaurants around the world and none ever felt close to this level of service. On to the food - while I can't describe every dish because my memory does not serve me, I remember each bite was absolutely delicious. Most of the time in multi-course meals, there's one or two dishes that make me scratch my head and wonder if my palate is just basic and unrefined if I don't enjoy it, but I didn't feel that in any way here. I enjoyed every single course and walked away satisfied and wanting to return to n/naka for the next season's course.

We had an rsvp but wasn't busy when we arrived. Was sat immediately and served water. They have a pretty extensive menu of most things you'd find at a sushi cut roll spot. We ended up ordering the toro garlic toast, veggie tempura, ginza roll, and several pieces of nigiri sushi. The toro garlic toast was pretty good - sort of like a spicy tuna crispy rice situation ... but a little fattier and more garlicky than crispy. The ginza roll was pretty good too - a lot of fish in the roll and wasn't overwhelming with too much sauce. The tempura was good too- not super oily and all your typical veg involved. The nigiri sushi were pretty well prepared. The size was pretty good for the price - and each were accompanied by a small garnish on top or a little bit of sauce brushed on. All in all - I wouldn't say it's a date night place, but is a good easy eats sushi spot for rolls and nigiri for the price. Would recommend!

Found Anju while searching for best group dinner spots in Koreatown Los Angeles and now I completely understand the hype. First off, making the reservation was incredibly easy. Being able to book a large party online without having to jump through hoops was a huge plus. When we arrived, we got seated almost immediately, which for a large group in KTown on a busy night felt impressive. Parking initially confused us a bit because of the plaza setup, but they offer valet and it ended up being super convenient and worth it. The vibe here is awesome. It's technically an outdoor restaurant, but it still feels intimate and lively. Perfect energy for groups, celebrations, birthdays, catching up with friends, or just hanging out over Korean BBQ and soju. Kyle was our server and genuinely made the night. Super attentive, very accommodating with our large party and baby, constantly checking in, pacing the meal well, and just brought great energy to the table all night. Service like that really changes the whole experience. Food-wise, the marinated beef was phenomenal. Easily one of the standout dishes of the night. So flavorful, tender, and the kind of dish everyone keeps reaching back for. We also ordered an octopus and pork dish that completely blew me away. Probably one of my favorite bites I've had in LA in a while. The asado-style platter wasn't my personal favorite compared to the marinated meats, but it still came with a generous amount and was great for sharing with a large table. We ordered a ton of food, beers, soju, shared plates, and left absolutely stuffed. Considering the amount of food, drinks, and the size of our party, we all felt like the value was really solid. Dessert is definitely more simple and traditional, so don't come expecting some massive dessert menu, but honestly the focus here is the food, drinks, atmosphere, and group dining experience. Overall, this is one of the best large group restaurants in Koreatown if you want great Korean food, strong service, fun social atmosphere, and a place that actually handles big parties well. Will absolutely be back.

The customer service was extremely poor, starting with over 1.5-hour wait for a table. When we politely asked about our seating status after waiting for an hour. I communicated I noticed there were open 4 or so tables that can accommodate 4-5 people each table and if any parties will be seated soon. The staff were dismissive, felt annoyed that I asked such a reasonable question, told me in a rude way to wait because they don't have enough cooks and doing what they can to get people seated as soon as they can. I noticed many people were finished eating, and just conversing, which likely explains their poor seating system and care for customer service. To make matters worse, their seating priority is completely unfair and broken. We had a party of five and watched them seat other groups of our size who arrived after us. It gave the distinct impression of preferential treatment, serving their own kind first. Once we finally got a table, it took another 30 minutes just for the staff to take our order. When the food did arrive, it was barely subpar. The $80 steak dish was highly disappointing and waste of money. The bulgogi was intestines and not traditional meat. The kimchi pork belly was also disappointing. The kimchi was overly salty. The food is way overpriced. Everyone in the party was disappointed and agrees. I respectfully provided the feedback again on the poor service regarding our seating experience and they pushed out back saying that's what we should expect if we come in the evening, nothing they need to do better. You can find better Korean food elsewhere most places in K-town at half the price. I would give this place less than 1 star if I could. I do not recommend dining here or trusting the reviews. Parking is also difficult to find and requires valet which is $6. For the business owners you seriously need to review your seating system, staff attitude, and the quality and price of your food, which reflects poorly in your overall customer service and experience.
