Mason is always going the extra mile to give his customers the newest things on the horizon, whether they are UV/Red Light/Spray Tanning related or not. For a while he had things to make my teeth look nice and whiter. Heck I've even bought cool Vintage Clothes for my girlfriend there. The things he sells in his front area are always way more reasonable than if you got them at a specialty shop further down Melrose Ave, too. Melrose Tanning Co is clean. The bulbs are fresh. The employees are always cool and relaxed. And the prices are highly reasonable. They're dog friendly, and kid friendly too. It's just a really nice local business that one hopes will last forever. I didn't even want money back, I just wanted to get the services I paid for. But they will just pocket the money for services you never received. They also will not provide you the receipt from their system. They tell you to find it and let them know even though you never received a receipt to begin with. Basically worst customer service. The only reason I went before was because they have decent tans and my friend used to work there so I went to support. No longer the case.

I came to Neihule salon in December to get my hair roots touched up. I have naturally dark hair and my blonde was growing out. I asked for balayage to bring my blonde up as my previous stylist had brushed on the bleach to get my hair blonde. I wanted the hair to be pretty much all blonde and no streaks. I had scheduled with Nicole online based on her work. While I was at the salon for another nail appointment, Nicole approached me to discuss my hair (different day than my actual hair appointment). She wanted to confirm what I wanted to get done - I told her I just want my blonde to come up in the same way it is but to cover my dark roots. She tells me that to do my entire hair it would be over $700. I tell her that's ridiculous because I used to get my hair done at $300. This should have been a warning sign and I should've just found a different stylist. We finish that conversation with her saying she will be able to do my hair according to what I am asking, and that it will be around $400 so I come back on the day of the appointment. While my hair is being colored, I am seeing chunks of dark roots being left out. I point it out and tell her I don't want any dark or streaks, I want my top all blonde. She says don't worry she will blend it. Come to find out she gives me streaks - when there was nothing at the bottom of half of my blonde that suggested I wanted streaks. I wanted my full hair to be just one tone. While washing my hair she tells me I should've asked for a bleach and tone. And that it would've only costed $160. At this point I am boiling inside. But she does apologize for the miscommunication and tells me she will fix it and help me get to what I want gradually. So I leave that day giving her full 20% tip, for a total of $540 for hair I did not want - expecting it to gradually become what I wanted in the first place. 2 months later I come in to 'fix' the hair. She barely does anything to it and adds blotches of bleach on to some of the black hair - this takes 5 hours by the way, and then retones my hair because it had higher tint of green than I wanted. It's not what I wanted but it's a progress. So I get a hair cut on top and pay $120 plus tip for a hair cut that was very rushed. 2 months after that I message Nicole and ask her how can we get to what I originally wanted - my roots have grown out. She leaves me a voicemail saying she can't do my hair because I won't be happy with her. So I call management - they're not available so I leave a message with the front desk asking for some kind of a way to fix this. May be a partial refund of services because I paid that amount assuming she was fixing it in the long term. Management simply leaves me a voicemail there is nothing they could do because I came in for the 2nd time. Their way of handling this gave me such a bad taste I didn't even want to deal with it. This type of customer matter should not be dealt by simply leaving a voicemail there's nothing to be done. Customer service receives 0 stars. Not to mention 0 for communication for not understanding what the client wanted in the first place. Please steer clear of this place! Btw - I got my hair fixed at a different salon. Please go see my reviews / pictures for what I was able to achieve with the other salon. I still have a blotchy area that's a different then the rest of my hair due to the mishap happened here and that's something I am going to have live with for years until my hair grows out... :-/ mind you I spent close to a $1000 here. Neihule Management - you guys are terrible for trying to profit off of mistakes and not doing right by your customers. Hair affects people's' livelihood and if you mess up - make sure to fix it.
