Terrible customer service. Keeps on trying to make me come early 30 mins before appointment starts even though I live 1 hour away or cancelling my appointment at the last minute. Today I asked if I can come in the morning instead and he said no and "gave away" my afternoon appointment even though he never asked me if I wanted to cancel. He then said I had a bad "attitude" and tried to blame me for his scheduling mess. This guy is extremely unprofessional and has a personality disorder of gaslighting his customers. What can be better than smooth cheeks? Nice to caress and nice to look at! At Smooth Cheeks you can get the ones on your face and the ones down under completely SMOOTH! I found out about Smooth Cheeks in an LGBT magazine. Then I looked at their great reviews on Yelp and I was sold! The name caught my attention to be sure! The first time I came in was for something simple - hair removal from my lower back area. I decided to get it waxed off. The whole experience was quick and PAINLESS! I kid you not! I was scared that the waxing would hurt a little but Gabriel's hands worked the wax off like magic! All in all it was a very comfortable experience thanks to Gabriel's great attitude towards his job and his professionalism. He is so personable and keeps good conversation while he does his wonders! He makes you feel right at home and that is so hard to come by at so many businesses where they rush you in and out and just give you the bare minimum of customer service. The wax that Gabriel uses is a lavender cream wax for sensitive skin. I like that he uses such a wax even for normal skin like mine because it shows that he wants to take no chances with any kind of side effects. You can tell he uses high end product because when he was done there was no waxy residue and no discomfort. Best of all, afterwards I had no rash at all. I have been to places where all of those things occurred and I'm so glad that experience was not only not repeated - it was surpassed! Gabriel offers private personal care unlike at some other places where you do not have your own space. He specializes in male waxing but also works with females. On my second visit I came in for the $95 facial which is about an hour long. Throughout the process he took the time to explain what he was doing and why it helps your skin. You lie back on a very comfortable table complete with padding and Gabriel makes sure you are comfortable by adjusting the head rest towels. Then he prepares your skin for the extraction of impurities and finally takes them out in a relatively painless process. The product he uses feels so refreshing on your face and he massages it into your skin so nicely that you feel the utmost relaxation! You even get a mini massage with the package. What can be better than that! Well maybe the fact that he plays relaxing music and lights candles to create a nice mood! Wow, what a facial! I'm definitely coming back! I chose two add-ons. I had my nose waxed and also had him apply the decadent collagen mask! The nose waxing removes nose hairs and is completely painless. The collagen mask feels so good and you just feel it nourishing your skin all the while. Smooth Cheeks is a cute little space. He has stylish Barcelona chairs and great art up on the walls. He also has high end skin care product on display. The place is always immaculately clean and that caused a good impression on me since it shows Gabriel's meticulous attention to detail. Smooth Cheeks is conveniently located in a building which is adjacent to a parking lot. Parking is FREE! Can you believe that? Free parking in WeHo? Unheard of! Gabriel does not have the best business model. It's a bit too casual for me given the extremely high prices. Further, Gabriel's bedside manner is very strong, overbearing, and can be intimidating. Lastly, he will try and give you a lower price the first time to lure you in and then give you higher prices subsequent time saying "oh you're shoulders took a little more time" or "I had to blend it with the trimmer" etc. Point being, there is no professionalism here. It's like going to your friends studio to wax, which at first I appreciated and then realized was not the best thing for me given that there is no standard of professionalism to hold either myself as a customer or himself as the esthetician accountable. His medical release form is a generic one from Google and does not apply to his services at all. Lastly if you have sensitive skin, beware! Gabriel uses harsher waxes and a lot more force. I broke out really badly after and went to a dermatologist who notified me that the wax that was used is too harsh for my skin (or it could be lack of care from the esthetician but I'm giving Gabriel the benefit of the doubt here). If you fall into this boat, try Brazilian honey waxing. It's amazing, cheaper (if not comparable), and an actual business model that has a receptionist and real medical forms that explain to you everything upfront. Just seems like a safer bet to me if someone is pulling hair off my body. But it's all preference. read more

Convenience: I was able to get a same-day appointment, parked in a large parking lot adjacent to the building, walked in and was getting prepped thirty seconds later. I arrived at 3:30pm and was on the table at 3:32pm. 2. Location: The heart of West Hollywood. It's way cooler than where you live. Particularly if you're me. 3. Ambiance: Small, clean, somehow European. Barcelona chairs that I've wanted for my apartment for years. Cute, cozy, modern, and stylish. 4. Price: Comparable to the less-expensive options in other neighborhoods in Los Angeles, where you park on the street and hope your wheels aren't in a different zip code when you're done. 5. Personality: Have you met Gabriel? He's a sweetheart. Such a combination of handsome and genuinely nice contraindicates everything everyone says about LA. In summary? I don't hand out five-star reviews casually. This place just nailed it. I had a top-notch facial and a pain-minimizing waxing experience; as good as it gets. read more

I visited Smooth Cheeks for the first time this week. The store is located in a pleasant area in West Hollywood close to La Cienega. The store is upstairs in a courtyard area surrounded by trees giving it a sanctuary vibe. My first impression when I walked in was that it was fresh, clean and breezy. Gabriel himself was a sweetheart. He was very welcoming and professional. I felt immediately at ease, which was nice since I was getting my bottom waxed for the first time! I wasn't sure what to expect, but there was soothing music playing and his set up was pristine and proper. We talked throughout the whole waxing experience and before I knew it he was done. He was efficient, thorough and as gentle as one could be. Furthermore, I was very pleased to discover I had no irritation to the process or his technique later that day or the days following! Miracle! The process was quick and, in my opinion, painless--though with any waxing, there will be discomfort, or a bit of shock.
