Our office frequently orders SugarBears cupcakes for birthdays and celebrations. I love all the different flavors, the beautiful designs, and even the cute singular togo holder made just for cupcakes. It's delicious. We tried to visit the shop for the first time and unfortunately, they were already closing up with 45 min before closing. A little bit of a bummer. We were still able to get a couple things but the experience wasn't great. read more

Oh my!! I can't say enough about these lovely, talented people! What incredible bakers, artists and creative minds these folks are. They are reason enough to move to Encinitas. Their treats are delectable, beautifully crafted and decorated and such a treat for anyone. Couple that with my celiac condition and I can enjoy with confidence knowing they did everything they could to manage the challenges. And the taste?? Superb. An hour before SugarBears was closing, I walked in and asked if they could make two last minute cupcakes for a gender reveal. The staff was so kind and looked around to see if they had any cupcakes that they could use and they found a few unfrosted gluten free one. I handed them my envelope and they made two of the most delicious cupcakes I have ever had! The cupcakes didn't reveal anything regarding the gender until you bit in and it was a perfect surprise. They were cleaning up for the day, but the ambiance seemed cute and they had large displays. We will definitely be back soon! read more

The taste of the custom cake we ordered was delicious. We paid a handsome fee, upfront, for a 50th birthday cake for a special party. When I arrived, the cake was plain white and didn't even have the custom message completed. They did their best to add some accents, but the appearance was underwhelming. read more

I had the pleasure of visiting Sugarbears yesterday with my little boy on his birthday. He picked a couple cupcakes to celebrate the day. When we came home and opened the box we realized the cashier had added a birthday candle and a little fun ribbon to make it extra special. This place is awesome! My partner and I recently tied the knot in La Jolla and we had the great fortune of working with SugarBears to provide our cake and desserts. The owners were very prompt and easy to communicate with, and when we met them at one of our venue's events, they were incredibly kind and warm. When my partner picked up our tasting box from their brick and mortar location in Encinitas, the staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating to my partner's long list of allergies. On top of all that, their desserts are absolutely amazing! It's been so hard deciding which is my favorite flavor between peanut butter chocolate, lemon, carrot cake, tuxedo, and strawberry. Now that I think about it, I think my favorite flavor is whichever one I'm eating at the moment. If you are working with SugarBears for a wedding, may I suggest the "small cake and cupcakes" option? You get a large variety of flavors for your guests, and SugarBears delivers plenty for everyone. But even if you go the more traditional cake route, you won't be disappointed by whichever flavor your choose. In summary: high-quality desserts from top-quality folks. I ordered a gluten free cake for my 25 year anniversary and the cake was amazing!!!!!! Neither my husband or I have had a cake in a decade+ and this was a serious indulgence but we enjoyed every single bite. If you're gluten free or not you need to try this place. If you're doing a special order I have to say they were super easy to work with and super responsive. The decoration on our cake was just what we had asked and hoped for. Jun did such a great job on my son's 5th birthday cake. I sent him a photo and he not only nailed it but it is even better! My son was so excited! I've been ordering from them for years for my kids' birthday parties, they always love the unique flavors and I don't disagree with my kids on that. The cupcakes are so fun and flavorful. I'm not a big cake person and I always used to think cupcakes were just for snotty people who say that they're eating less calories than cake by eating a cupcake when they have the same amount of frosting as a cupcake, so it's saying a lot for me to give a cupcake place 5 stars. this place has a great selection of cupcakes. They are so delicious. They have all different flavors. I am on a vegan diet and they even have something for me which is rare that taste delicious better than anything else out there. We love sugar bears, especially when they have blue icing on cupcakes and doughnuts for my girl who loves all things blue! All the cupcakes we have gotten there have been delicious and fresh and so was the doughnut. This is my go to cupcake place for my friends and family members birthdays. The lady helping us today was patient and helpful. We only had one not so great experience where we went in on a Tuesday afternoon and there were barely any cupcake options left. I can't say enough good things about SugarBears Sweet Provisions! I had an early morning cupcake emergency for a client because I was dropping off a car at the airport for them through my company, We Truk, and I wanted to surprise them by leaving the cupcakes in the car for when they arrived. I found myself driving by the store at 7 AM, and they weren't supposed to open until 9 AM. But when I knocked on the door, the lady inside saw the urgency in my situation and graciously opened up early for me. Not only was she extremely nice and personable, but the entire staff was also incredibly accommodating. The cupcakes? Absolutely divine. My client was thrilled, and I got to play the hero. Thank you, SugarBears, for saving the day and for your wonderful hospitality. I might just show up early again next time! read more

Jun is our Managing Partner and lead designer to our organization. He has over 20 years working in the pastry culinary arts and started his career in Peru. He has been with SugarBears since 2018 and is extremely passionate about the industry. I think that all the donuts are the same, just topped differently, I did not see anything different other than the Mochi Ball, which they have been out of the past few times I have visited. Mochichis, has free parking in the center parking lot, and normally when you walk in, you are greeted (not my last visit), but normally. Every time other than this last time, you are sort of killed with kindness, not that the worker was unpleasant. It is small inside, but there are around 5 tables that you can sit out, I mean most donut places are small and/or have no seating at all. Unique donuts, and I love that the uniqueness is not just adding 50 toppings to make it that way.

Only for the cake to never arrive. 3) I was told it would be overnighted to me the next day. (Surprise that didn't happen) 4) Apparently there was not a cold pack ready and was told I would receive it Thursday morning (via FedEx so I'm not sure why the owner is saying her delivery person had it in the car Thursday?) All the screenshots are there for you. 5) Here we are on Thursday, no communication and still no cake sample. I submitted a dispute with my bank on the purchase and was refunded instantly. The saddest part is they DO have delicious cake and I am sure if everything goes right they are probably great to work with. However, the major problem I am seeing is when things go wrong, they don't have the customer service to make it right. If they couldn't follow through with delivering it, WHY OFFER?! I would have just as quickly agreed to a partial refund and redoing the cake tasting the following weekend with their normal pick ups. They just kept offering things they couldn't deliver on.
