This recently restored and opened historic inn and restaurant is so quaint! The best way I can describe our experience with the staff and food is a warm hug. Everyone was super friendly, the food was comforting and delicious and the atmosphere is cozy. On my first visit, I enjoyed special fall cocktails: the fall martini was amazing with the perfect hint of rosemary and sage, the maple margarita was a magical marriage of sweet and tang. The specials for drinks and food are always a hit, so if a special sounds good, GET IT! I really dont think you can go wrong with anything here, its evident the owners and staff take pride in what they serve their customers and make everyone feel welcome and at home.

A colleague had suggested I check out Sugar Water when I was in town. It was a bit out of the way for me, but they had chicken pot pie on the menu, so to Princess Anne I went! I visited on a Tuesday evening at 6:00pm. I walked into the foyer of what I was told was an old hotel. There was a lounge-like area on the left side and hardwood floors everywhere. There was no clear signage of where to go as there was no staff to greet me. A team member came out of one of the back doorways and greeted me. They picked up a clipboard menu and led me to the front room. On the clipboard was all of their menus and the cover sheet was upcoming events. The team member who greeted and sat me appeared to be waiting on the whole restaurant. She advised me that the top menu (The BFF menu) was being served tonight. BFF stands for burgers, foot-long hot dogs and fried chicken and it was the ONLY menu being served that night. I had seen this menu on the website but was led to believe that it was similar to a bar menu that accompanied a daily menu. That was not the case. I settled on creating my own burger with a chicken patty, bacon, bbq sauce and satueed onions with fries. Unfortunately it seemed like there was only one cook and my order was in the queue behind the party of five that got their order in before me. When my food was delivered, the team member apologized for the delay. The presentation of the burger and fries was fun with a flower elevating it to a different level. I was pleased that the chicken patty appeared to be hand-patted and guessed the weight to be somewhere between 1/4 and a 1/3 pound. I enjoyed the burger and I think that a chicken parm burger would be a nice addition to the menu based on the quality of the chicken. I was comped dessert due to the wait in receiving my food. I took home a flourless chocolate cake which was tasty and rich. Would I go back? Maybe. Turns out that the chicken pot pie I saw on their website was from their winter menu and they are now serving their spring menu. So I wouldn't have gotten that pot pie anyway. So I might call ahead to ask if the website menu is current.

Great place for food. Very very knowledgeable of celiac disease and gluten free- they took it upon themselves to run all the silverware through the dishwasher before our meal just incase there was contamination (never got that anywhere else and definitely was reassuring). Food was pretty good, staff were very friendly. We will definitely be returning!

Sugar Water Restaurant, located inside the Washington Hotel, is a charming and quaint restaurant in Princess Anne. We had brunch here this past weekend. The historic inn and restaurant was lovely and the service was friendly and personable. Most importantly the food was fabulous. My husband ordered the Open Faced Egg Sandwich and I went with the Bake of the Day. The Bake was a a delicious roasted vegetable quiche. I've never had anything quite like it and it was a plentiful serving. My side of greens was fresh and also delicious.

Loved finding this great little restaurant in Princess Anne, MD. I stumbled across it just before they were closing, and they were incredibly accommodating, allowing me to order a late lunch. Daniel and Dana we're lovely, and as I enjoyed an amazing soft shell crab BLT and a delicious Hummingbird cocktail, they told me the history of how they purchased the Washington Hotel, and added this quaint restaurant. They have only been open eight weeks, but I am confident of the great successes they will have with their new venue. If you are in the area, definitely make it a plan to stop by and enjoy the delicious food and the wonderful people !

They've really done a great job with this restaurant. Both the loaded fries and the crepes were so so good. A calm, quiet atmosphere with great service!

Once inside the restaurant, the tables are long and very close together. Not too many table are just 4-tops of which means you'll be seated with others most likely . It was a tight squeeze to get up from the tables due to them being so close . They dump all the crabs and corn on your table which leaves lil space to actually eat them. There are three bathroom stalls for a really big restaurant of which causes a long line every time you need to use the bathroom. Now the crabs themselves were a mix of small & mediums but they were really juicy and had a good taste. The servers were pretty cool although they seemed overwhelmed with the large groups of people. Overall the crabs, corn, clam strips, and fried chicken thighs and shrimp were good. I would come back again just not on a trip so I can get a better chance if not being seated with people don't know .

The next day everybody was talking about how good this place was. They talked about the all you can eat crabs, that same with fried shrimp and chicken that was just out of this world, and it just sounded incredible. I had actually looked it up, and told my wife about it, but it was just to far of a drive without having a day planned around it. We don't really go out to this area, and so after a while it just kind of fell off of our radar. Fortunately for my though, I was invited to a conference at Salisbury University through my employer. I was talking with a friend of mine about the food ion the area, and he brought up a name that I hadn't heard in some time, but it clicked right when he said it. I did my googles and found that we were only 20 minutes from here, and I knew it was now or never. I told 2 of my coworkers about it, and gave them the backstory on how I've been wanting to cone here for years, and they were down. The only thing that came as a drawback was that we had just been given blue crabs at our conference the day before, and I didn't want to sit through another crab picking session, so AYCE wasn't going to be an option for me, but luckily it didn't end up being a problem. When we got here we were seated immediately, that staff was friendly and it smelled amazing as soon as you opened the door. Our sevcer was very accommodating seeing as we had to split the bill 3 ways and she put the alcohol on 3 different checks for us. Anyhow, The food! I got the Snow Crab mini feast, which came with 4 Clusters of Snow Crabs, 1 Piece of Fried Chicken, 1 Ear of Corn, Boat of Fried Shrimp, Boat of Clam Strips, Boat of Hush Puppies. Which was more like 3 pieces of chicken, and shrimp flowing out of the boat. I also got a pitcher of Blue Moon and a Tito's Wildcat which was really good. I could've done without the powdered sugar on top of the hush puppies, but it didn't ruin how good they were. It almost gave off a beignet vibe, they were lighter and fluffier than a lot of the more dense hush puppies I've had, and were still the best hush puppies i've had in a minute. Needless to say I crushed this whole meal, and I was actually considering not even eating the corn. Then I figured I should atleast take a bite, because why not. Best decision ever! I pealed the corn and drizzled melted butter with Old Bay on it, and holy smokes! The best corn i've ever had in my entire, whole, full, complete, total life! Even without the fixings it was sweet and juicy, just good. I would fircking come back from a Corn on the cob mini feast if they had one...lls The only real downside is that on a hot day this place and get pretty stuffy inside. We spoke with our waitress who said the A.C. has a hard time keeping up once the place gets packed, so hopefully thats something they fix in the near future. Definitely glad I got to check in here, and see what all the hype was about, and they delivered! Old Mill Crab House is the TRUTH!!

As we were very hungry and didn't want to stop to research where to go, I selected the 1st seafood restaurant. It was about 8 miles away. We had to u-turn and back track about a 1/4 mile as it was on the east side of the divided highway. At first glance, I was disappointed and annoyed. We wanted an actual sit-down restaurant so we could take a break, and what we see is a fresh fish market. It's a really old rundown looking fish market. But like I said, we were really hungry, and there were a few vehicles there. Some had people eating in them, so we went inside. As soon as we walked inside, the smell of fresh seafood hit us. It didn't sink. It smelled really fresh. There's 2 counters inside and no place to sit. The only seating is picnic tables outside. The first counter is the fresh raw seafood, and the 2nd way off to the left is for placing your order. We kill about for a bit while looking at the handwritten menu. An older man with a Russian accent and the sea weathered appernce you'd expect in a lifelong fisherman was helping other customers. When it our turn,it was a hard decision because it seems you can have them cook any of the seafood from the other counter. We both went with the classic fish in chips. What we got to a while as it's completely made to order. Yo! This fish was in the ocean swimming yesterday! It's that fresh! So, the fish was fried flounder filet, and the fries were standard frozen fries with old bay type seasoning. This was the best fried fish I'd had in a very, very long time. The fries weren't bad, but the fish was next level. If you're every driving by and have a hankering for great fresh seafood, stop here. You won't regret it.

The FedEx overnight shipping for these time-sensitive, freshly steamed Maryland blue crabs is insanely expensive--but so worth every penny. The crabs arrive fat, rich, and impossibly sweet--capturing the inimitable flavor that makes Maryland blues stand out. Don't get me wrong--I love Alaskan King, Dungeness, and Snow Crabs, but only Maryland blues have my heart. The Company puts a lot of love into protecting that perfection: - Crabs are packed in styrofoam crates with bubble wrap barriers to shield them from the dry ice, so nothing arrives accidentally frozen. - Often, they include a few extra crabs, just in case one or two don't meet their own high standards. That thoughtfulness goes a long way. While these steamed beauties are mouthwatering anytime, the prime season is in September, after they've had the summer to fatten up in their shells. That's when they're absolutely bursting with flavor and texture. Having said that, I still can't resist ordering for Memorial Day to officially kick off the summer and in June to honor daughter's annual request for her birthday feast. This is more than a crab shipment--it's a tradition. From coast to coast, The Crab Place delivers a piece of Maryland's culinary soul with quality, care, and consistency. For any true crab lover, this is the gold standard.
