Blackened Chicken Wrap
Briana S.

This is a really good spot literally in the middle of no where. I got the blackened chicken wrap and it was amazing. My friends love to get their cheesesteak every time they come. Service is quick and easy. You order at a window, sit down and they'll call your order. Parking is limited from what I saw up front. Most people grab their food and go. Great lunch spot!

So cute!

Always love coming here for a quick breakfast sandwich! The biscuits are amazing. Soft, hot, crispy on the top and melt in your mouth wonderful on the inside!! Add an egg and your choice of meat, bacon, sausage, even red hot and you have an amazing breakfast sandwich!!

Love the breakfasts. The chili cheeseburger is my favorite lunch item along with the macaroni salad.

It's a tiny place offering breakfast. It's always fast and good. Their is no place to eat inside. Picnic type tables in the front.

Fabulous biscuits and my husband loves their burgers. The ladies that own/run the place are super friendly. We love this place.

Unfortunately, our excitement quickly faded before we were even seated. When I walked into the restaurant, I was completely ignored by a young blonde employee named Claudia who was standing behind the counter in the waiting area. She looked directly at me and continued what she was doing without so much as a greeting or an acknowledgment. A simple, "Good morning, someone will be right with you," would have gone a long way. Since no one else was in the lobby and I noticed a clipboard on the counter, I politely asked if there was a waitlist. Claudia responded with an attitude that she "wasn't the hostess." I calmly asked where the hostess was, and she simply replied that she was clearing tables. There was no offer to help, no explanation of the process, and no attempt to assist me. She continued interacting with other staff members while I stood there feeling like an inconvenience. Thankfully, another employee who appeared to be a waiter noticed me. He immediately picked up the same clipboard that had been sitting on the counter, took my name and phone number with a cheerful attitude, and let me know it would be about a 15-minute wait. His professionalism completely contrasted with the poor customer service I had just experienced. Once seated, our waiter was personable, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was also very good. I ordered the Chicken Sausage Scramble with hash browns, and it was delicious. My friend ordered the Catfish and Grits and thoroughly enjoyed her meal as well. The food and our waiter helped redeem the experience, but first impressions matter. Management should ensure that every employee understands that providing basic courtesy and hospitality is everyone's responsibility, not just the hostess's. Even if greeting guests or managing the waitlist wasn't Claudia's primary role, there was no excuse for being dismissive or rude to someone walking through your front door. Alpharetta has no shortage of excellent brunch spots with both great food and outstanding customer service. Sadly, because of the way I was treated before I was even seated, I won't be returning to The Southern Porch. I also won't feel comfortable recommending it to friends or family. It's disappointing because the kitchen and our waiter did their jobs well, but one employee's attitude overshadowed what could have been an otherwise enjoyable brunch.

The entire breakfast experience was sitting in an establishment and eating the accompanying food…read morethat was trying too hard to be "modern" or "fusion" without providing an established, traditional meal. The Dutch Baby was soggy, and not really tasting of anything except undercooked batter. The strawberry pancakes were so drenched in disgustingly sweet syrup and topped with equally sweet whipped cream that eating just a few bites sends one into a diabetic coma. The service was mediocre. Our waitress was so disinterested in talking to us or interacting with us that her service was perfunctory at best. The breakfast was underwhelming, the service below average, and the food was expensive. Way too expensive for the quality of the food offered. It was a clean, well kept establishment, but it's one I won't be going to ever again. It just wasn't worth it

They charge $5 for their croissant, which was where it falls short. If it were the best croissant I ever had, perhaps. No substitutions. Always hated this rule for every restaurant, but I get it if you have a special and hundreds of customers. We were one of 3 parties on a weekday brunch, super slow. We also ordered the traditional breakfast and a kids breakfast. But instead of bacon, we wanted a croissant for the kids meal. They are both $5 in the menu when ordered separately. First the server said they didnt know (weird) then said they would check and left for 5 minutes. The answer was no. So I paid an extra $5 and added a croissant. I ate the bacon, which improved my salmon Benedict. But neither the croissant nor bacon felt like $5. Kids meal is now the cost of a regular. So I recommend if you dont want any substitutions, try this place. I wont be coming back. It really irks me that you cant just put bread instead of bacon on a kids meal. You aren't a robot, and you are not busy. You are also not getting me as a patron anymore. P.S. the Croissant alone was not worth $5. I rate it a 3 out of 5 on its own.

A sweet employee suggested the chicken salad as a favorite, so I ordered it for takeout (not toasted and without lettuce) as I was in a bit of a hurry. The filling was plentiful as you can tell by the photo. I ate half for lunch and other half for dinner because it was that filling. I also snagged one of their homemade oatmeal raisin cookies that's bigger than your whole hand. The cookie took up the entire to-go box. It was huge and delicious. They had chocolate chip, peanut butter, and a couple of other cookie flavors. Do note they are closed on Sundays. Looking forward to another visit and hope to dine-in next time!
