This place has been on my hit list for at least a year, I ended up going alone on a Friday night around 10pm, I was sat in the back, in the over flow lounge area, nice decor and vibe inside. They were playing a mix of hip hop, r&b, reggae and today's hits. I had blue mist hookah and they kept changing the coal , which I loved, most places charge extra for coal. I had the Blue Hawaiian & Blue Long Island drinks , strong & good. The cheeseburger egg rolls were yummy but the shrimp quesadila was bland. My only complaint is they weren't attentive to me , I guess because I was alone, I had to keep flagging down the waitress and she kept saying "huh, huh"? My bill was over $100, could of been nicer to me. They take the tip out automatically, so she didn't need to make an effort in customer service. Maybe I'll visit again but never alone.
Sugar N Coal is a charming Hookah lounge and dessert on Woodhaven. The music is great, the mocktails were wonderful. I enjoyed the flavored hookah. The desserts were good; service was great! We had dinner with friends at Aroma, next door, then headed to Sugar N Coal for desserts and to hang out. We got to enjoy a semi enclosed lounge. I loved the private space. The chandeliers plus the beautiful drinks gave this place a trendy vibe. I really enjoyed the mango, pineapple and mint shisha. You could really taste the mango and the mint hookah. It was so fun to relax and hang out with friends on the soft couches. The strawberry shortcake dessert with waffles was the best one. I loved the crisp waffles and the strawberry ice cream. Smores shake- the roasted marshmallows were the best part! Rashmalai Tres Leche- Rashmalai cake with 3 milks. This was interesting. Rashmalai is a cheese cake soaked in cardamom flavored cream. This version of Rashmalai tres leche was different. Parle G Over the Top Ice Cream Cake- vanilla, cookies and cream, chocolate ice cream with Parle G cookies. This was ok. Drinks: Lychee martini- it was so refreshing and so pretty! I loved the orchid in this drink! The white mojito - had lychee, mango, guava and strawberry. It was so refreshing that K drained it in minutes. I would def return for the drinks and the strawberry shortcake waffles.
I've been dying to come here since I heard abt it last Halloween. So, I finally went last night. The Rasmalai Tres Leches ($11) was amazing! It wasn't too sweet, it was perfectly moist. I loved the Pistachio addition (my fave nut) & the whipped cream. I'd go back just for this dessert. The steak ($25) was kinda tough & the upper layer was too burnt. It was spicy & decent otherwise. The masala cheese fries ($6) were really good. It does have a strong taste tho so, it's not for everyone. The beef tacos ($10) were ok but we found a hair in 1 of them. The Loaded Nachos were so good ($10.50)! My litchitini ($6) was great! I heard the hookah is great as well. 2nd time here & they were outta the Loaded Nachos, which was pretty disappointing. So, my cousin got the Chicken n Waffles ($13) instead. The chicken in it is really good. I just think Chicken n Waffles is a weird mix, esp cuz of the syrup. I just hate sweet meat. The litchitini ($6) is good as usual. The Nutella Cosmopolitan Shake ($13) was ok, not worth the price imo. They were outta the Le Jardin De Verre so I got the Rasmalai Tres Leches ($11) again. It was great as usual. The Nutella Cheesecake Waffle ($11) was really good (a bit too sweet for me but it's nutella so ofc) The Mango Mocktail ($6) was really good although it had mint leaves in it, which I hate.
Hands down one of the best lounges to visit in queens. They got the best of both worlds , Hookah and desserts and also their Mocktails are really good . They desserts are out of the world , take up 15-20 minutes to come out , but truly worth the wait. The hookah flavors are great and are fair priced. They do have a happy hour!! Beautiful hookah venue with equally amazing staff. This place has the potential to become a "spot" if you know what I mean, except, at the moment without a drinks license they can only serve mocktails and adults ain't got time for that. While there the atmosphere was really fun and upbeat though, staff was extremely gracious to us so get those real drinks and I'd definitely be back. How am I able to afford four stars? See there's this thing call "great service" that gets me.... Everytime. The End.
Sugar N Coal is such a cute spot but it's entirely too small and claustrophobic for my taste. My girlfriends took me here to celebrate my birthday. The moment we walked in I thought this is it? I was baffled because the pictures on Yelp are quite deceiving. They offer hookah, premium desserts, and quick bites that you can order from the restaurant next door. I can't believe that they do not offer any wines or spirits. Instead they created a list of mocktails. The idea is cute but when I'm out and about I'd like to have a nice cocktail with my meal. How do you smoke hookah without any libations? It beats me. We ordered a fruit shisha which ended up tipping over out of nowhere. It was exchanged for the basic shisha which pulled so smoothly. I actually preferred the basic over the fancy shisha. We also ordered a plethora of food. We had tater tots, chicken samosas, calamari, butterfly coconut shrimp, lamb chops, wings, and an assortment of cocktails The service was great. I just wish that they get a liquor license sooner than later.
New York Amazing Halal Brunch with Hookah Usually, a hookah lounge opens up after 4 p.m. If you want to hang out with your friends to have a brunch. It is usually hard to find a halal spot. It's a constant dilemma, "should we just go for dinner or lunch instead?" If those two aren't the options, we end up at a local diner or an IHop(b), but, SUGAR and COAL tackle all that and more! If you want a halal spot with great brunch options, it is THE place to go. With a great ambiance, quick service, good food, options galore, you will not be disappointed. Sugar and Coal have a menu dedicated to mocktails- which I love because I want to have options! They have handpicked every mocktail on their menu and made sure each of them has its own personality without the alcohol. The best part is, this was done with an expert barista who knows their stuff. So you know your drink will be good from the first sip right down to the last. And if you are not much of a cocktail person, no problem, they have a variety the coolest milkshakes with the wildest toppings on them, you need an appetite just for the shakes alone! With shakes that have marshmallows, cake pops, donuts, cookies, who wouldn't want to come here just for the drinks? As for the food, as mentioned earlier, the options are endless, they have comfort food such as wings, mozzarella sticks, mac n cheese, and more. Sugar and Coal also offer French dessert crepes- in various flavors. They have an option of grilled food, biryanis, and western food as well. It's a perfect spot for the days when you just can't decide on one thing- which is often. Not to mention, they have hookah as well. For those who like to enjoy some hookah during the day hours to avoid the night scene, it's the perfect place to go. Sugar and Coal is not your "Traditional" brunch spot in New York City, It's an experience of its own, and definitely worth a go with your friends for a perfect brunch date!
Hanging out with family, we decided to get something to eat and try a new place, courtesy of tik tok. This is where we said l, let's see what Queens has to offer. Next thing you know, we were enjoying all types of vibes from various birthday parties and nightlife lovers. The DJ's were rocking their sets. They knew how to keep the tempo and truly read the room. The hookah was exceptional and greatly priced with a dope selection to choose from. The food, well prepared and seasoned. Definitely go with the finger food options that are given. The drinks, they could use some improvement but they will hold you over. Maybe an extra shot or two if you really are a strong drinker. It's a tad cramp in the inside but still easy to maneuver through. It has two sides, so enough to engage with your crowd. Looking forward to the summer when the outside is open and the sweets that they are known for are all the more delicious.
I really love the wide variety of desserts and the prices are fair! But it's a 3.5 stars for me as it stands (rounded up to 4) because for months they have not had more than half of their dessert menu. I understand completely with COVID everyone is having a hard time but I wish the website/online ordering platforms were updated accordingly so all information was up to date/not misleading about what is actually in store. I've been told it's because the chef is away and it seems indefinitely because no one seems to know when they'll be getting back. Fortunately for me I live in the area so it's no real trouble but I imagine for others who make a trip to come here, don't make their inquiries over the phone, they will likely be disappointed. The death by chocolate cake shake was actually really good which took me by surprise. Oftentimes with cake shakes you find the cakes to be dry and stale but this was moist and decadent, exactly what a chocolate cake should be! The milkshake itself tasted strongly of Godiva flavored chocolate so it was rich and well balanced. I also had the oreo waffle and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it as I'm fairly indifferent to waffles. The waffle is warm and pillowy and heaped with chocolate sauce, Oreos, and whipped cream. Definitely go with a friend and share because you will not be able to finish a single thing. I've also had their chicken and waffles, rasmalai tres leches, and some other things that I don't recall at this time, but they were all good and I love their creativity with the combinations. And all the meat is halal which is fantastic. Also, water is bottled and there's no tap water available so just keep that in mind.
After a doctor's appointment one day, went to eat Indian food and Sugan N Coal for dessert and a shisha session. It was a Monday afternoon so it wasn't busy. Had some masala chai, ras malai. The server was attentive and the hookah boy had great recommendations. Ambiance is the same and glad to see that they're consistent.
Sugar N Coal has been on my radar for a while. Hookah? Dessert? I mean what's not to like! I stopped by around 8pm on Thanksgiving day. There was only two other parties so we were seated right way. We had only come for the hookah, so we asked to sit in the other room which is meant more for hookah vs. sitting at a table. I initially had my eye on the Frozen Lychee Hookah, however, the waiter told me they were out of it. I asked him what the most popular flavors were and he said the Chilled Fruit Loops or Frozen Skittles. We went with the Chilled Fruit Loops (~$26) which is one of their signature flavors. It took about 30 minutes to get our hookah. That's a pretty long time to wait for hookah, especially on a night that they're not busy. The backroom was also pretty stuffy. The AC was off which could have helped a lot with ventilation. We started smoking and the flavor was just okay. I could barely taste anything fruity honestly. None of the flavors were distinct enough that I could taste. We sat there until 10pm which is the time they close now due to the pandemic curfew. They rotated the coals a couple times but there was no real flavor which was super disappointing. They also added an automatic service fee gratuity of 18% just for 2 people. They also charged $1.50 for the disposable pipe. All in all, for 1 hookah, it ended up being ~$35. I really wanted to like this place but I just couldn't get myself to enjoy the ambiance or the hookah. It seems like Sugar N Coal is trying to do too much at once. They have a pretty wide menu but there's no guarantee they'll have everything. I was pretty let down about this place and not super excited to come back honestly.

Shisha meeee ALL SUMMER!!!! Sugar N Coal is super cute! Great spot for date night, ladies night and any other type of night you can think of. I made a reservation for a Saturday night at 10pm. As soon as we approached we were met by an employee outside checking ID. After checking we were seated inside. There's a couple of cute 2 seater booths along with larger seating areas with couches. We opted for the Blue Horizon shisha which was problematic. After continuous head changes we still had problems pulling, the flavor was very rough, the bottom of the shisha was very cloudy no matter how much we pulled or didn't. Finally after the 3rd change (which must of been the charm) we were able to get continuous pulls, full of smoke and no harsh sensations. On to the drinks.... The hibiscus pear margarita was good BUT the jalapeño margarita was better! She was strong AND spicy. I mean realllyyyyyyyy spicy.... If spice isn't your thing stay away. While looking for a dessert spot I came across this place on Saturday night. Cute very small but not really... at the same time lol. They have 3 sections the main one you enter seems to be the lounge, where the DJ is and the belly dancers are. It's great and full of energy. The second area are tables seems more like a restaurant then there's the final area where the kitchen and bathroom are more like a spill over seating. (Thats where I was). They were very busy music is a good mix of Caribbean music and top 40 hip hop. Traditional belly dancer tunes and hookah. I wish they would open up the walls. You feel almost sectioned off from the main action of room 1. The belly dancers didn't leave that area. They have a full menu but we came just for the dessert I had the red velvet and oreo milkshake it was very delicious not just 'instagramable.' My cousin had the rashmalai tres leches omg that was so good the Indian flavors elevated the already classic Latin desert. I'd come back here. I spent the evening here with a bunch of people for a friend's birthday celebration on a Friday night. The place wasn't overly packed, but had a good amount of people there. I like the name, "Sugar N Coal" and think it is quite clever, as this place is a hookah lounge (burning coal; get it?) and its other speciality is dessert. This spot has a sexy grown up ambiance, while still being cozy with couches, small stools and booth seating for parties of 4. There was a red glow, a few chandeliers, and silvery (appears gold colored in the photographs) textured walls. Important note: They do not serve alcohol here, which wasn't a problem for me since I don't drink but might be an issue for others. There was a lovely belly dancer that came out to dance a few times (and once whilst balancing candles which took a lot of skill and was such a cool sight to see!) She tried to get all the guests to dance as well. I decided to share one of their gourmet milkshakes. My friend and I ordered the "Death By Chocolate," substituting the vanilla milkshake (boring!) with salted caramel pretzel milkshake. The milkshake was massive with a huge piece of blackout chocolate cake, oreos, gold crunch chocolate bar, sprinkles, whipped cream and chocolate icing over the glass. The milkshake itself was pretty tasty and a nice balance of the sweet caramel and salty pretzel flavor. I think my favorite part was that blackout chocolate cake though. It was absolutely delicious! And I'm normally not a fan of actual chocolate cake. The frosting was thick, rich, incredibly chocolate-y, smooth and the cake was moist and spongey. MMMM! The only part I wasn't a fan of was the chocolate frosting on the glass - It looked aesthetically pleasing but I couldn't actually eat the chocolate because it was stuck on. One of my friends ordered the 20 layer nutella cake which was a complete disappointment. It was presented beautifully with blue, purple and silver sparkles of glitter, a Ferrero Rocher chocolate on top, along with 2 chocolate pieces surrounding it and a pretty, swirled mound of whipped cream with a pocky stick and chocolate swirl underneath. The cake just didn't taste anything like nutella. It was so unsatisfactory that none of us wanted to finish eating it... In a party of around 15 people, that's not a good sign. The service in general was wonderful. Our waitress was personable, funny and accomodating throughout our time. Being there was an enjoyable and fun experience. However, I wouldn't return because I am not into hookah and the desserts seem to be hit or miss. read more
I had come to this spot a few years ago as a first date and it was a great time. The ambiance and the music was definitely my vibe. I didn't order any food but it was BYOB so had a nice drink and ordered my regular blue mist hookah with ice hose. It pulled right and lasted about 2 hours! (They changed the coal a few times) So fast forward to this past weekend. I met up with my girlfriend to get hookah and catch up. I saw on yelp they had out door seating so we met up at around 4pm and it was basically empty aka fast seating and quick/attentive service. We ordered Mac and cheese bites, wings and cheese fries to nosh on and later for desert a Oreo crepe and fresh chai tea. That tea was amazing! Nice and creamy. The food was good too and decently priced! The blue mist hookah with ice hose again did not disappoint... the coals were changed 2x and the hookah pulled nicely. It was a wonderful time and well over due hookah date hahaha It was a bit cold but within the next week they will be having limited indoor seating. So I will be back. read more

When you first walk in the place seems super small but then there's an entire back section. I'm not sure how often the floors are clean but they're SUPER slippery and sticky so be wary. I wanted to enjoy this place as the reviews were cool and the hookah was good. However, I guess where I went wrong was ordering food. I got the shrimp tacos which ended up making me sick at the end of the night. I ended up throwing up everything I ate there so for that, I doubt i'll ever return. read more

If I can give this place a 0 star I would. My first time here . I get a margarita and it has a fuckin cockroach in it .The manager tells me he'll give me 15% off the bill LOL what a joke. I've seen fruit flies in drinks , I've seen mint in drinks lol NEVER HAVE I EVER SEEN THIS. The manager was trying to negotiate how much discount he would give now and later when I come back. I felt disrespected tbh I told him if he don't comp the whole bill which was probably 50$ Ima call the food inspectors. I am soooooo shocked this place gave me a drink with a cockroach. I'm not even sure if the cockroach climbed into the drink after the drink was placed from the table but whatever it was STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE DISGUSTING read more

This place is great for a nice relaxing night with some friends. Great music and the staff is really helpful and always making sure you are okay with everything from the hookah to the food. I really enjoyed their mock-tails and I didn't even mind there wasn't any alcohol in it. For a hookah lounge, their appetizers were really good. I recommend the Cajun waffle fries, the ketchup has a really good kick to it! read more

When I first came here I wasn't impressed! The menu was trash, this location didn't have liquor the only thing I enjoyed was the hookah! NOW things have changed idk who revamped this place but they did well. The menu is new & improved also the presentation of food/drinks is 5 star! The music is BOMB! I recommend this place to you all! If you go on the weekend make sure you make a reservation. The staff is super friendly & quick! Menu is super affordable! Great place for date night or just to hang with friends. If I could leave 0 stars I would. I ordered through Uber eats and got a chicken quesadilla, fried shrimps, and shrimp tacos. I had a blonde/white HAIR in my fried shrimp My chicken quesadilla turned out to be a shrimp quesadilla instead Shrimp tacos tore before I could even pick them up Never ordering from here again! read more
$16 basic shisha - which isn't bad. Great list of flavors. I had the nutella milkshake and it was one of the best shakes I have ever tried! Ladies night on Wednesday = one free dessert! Iv came here a few times and thE staff aren't at all Friendly... they don't even smile ... com on' you are in the service industry... I called and placed an order one night to go, as I had my child with me. they told us the wait was 35 mins. Upon arriving we had to wait another 20 mins. We ordered 2 Haven medium rear burgers and one all American burger... when I got home (I literally live 5 mins away) my burgers was so burned. It was my first time here from Cali and my friend took me out to this lounge! It was really fun and good energy. The workers were really nice and always checked up on us and asked if we needed anything. Definitely a lounge to check out! The hookah and desserts were so good read more
About time I review this place! Just like the name says, it's amazing for hookah and desserts. Starting with the hookah, they're served on lotus heads and last a long time. The hookah variety here is great with many different flavors ranging from basics to exotic mixes. My favorite hookah here is Kashmiri Chai The desserts here are very decadent and taste exceptional! My favorite is the tres leches cake especially because it comes with an edible chocolate cup. They definitely pay attention to detail and will make sure you have a crafty, beautiful plate. The glass garden is also tasty, however it's more suitable for chocolate lovers. The drinks are virgin but packed with flavor and look beautiful. Everything you eat or drink there will be instagram worthy. The h pear margarita and lychee mojito are worth trying. They're not too syrupy or sweet and very refreshing! The service is great here, and the servers are always coming by to make sure you're satisfied and check up on you. My favorite server is Asifa, she's the BEST. Yeah you can play cards, when we went we played spades. It also has an average sound level.

For a private parties which is on the opposite side, I believe you can(but call to be certain), however just coming there, no you can't.

Walk in is fine. Have never made reservations and found a seat very quickly.

All Lounges in NY are now 21+. i believe any minor in a lounge will be a $5,000.00 fine per child just like it is for cigarettes. Someone can correct me if I am wrong though.
