Red bean + mochi shaved ice with ice cream. Peach slush in the back

If you want sweets or desserts, this is the place to go! Sugar lab has a wide range of desserts, like shaved ice, mochi with cream, Hong Kong desserts, Mille crepes, bubble tea (slushes, milk teas and teas) and more! We ordered the Red bean + taro mochi and ice cream shaved ice. It took some time to be made but I think that's because there's only one worker putting desserts together in the back and one in the front taking orders. The shaved ice was delicious, the perfect amount of sweetness with sugar syrup and condensed milk!! Definitely an item to be shared among a few people. Price wise it was about $20.95 per shaved ice. Next we got their watermelon slush and peach slush. Both were very good as well. Super refreshing on a warm summer day and it was nice and sweet as well. I believe it was around $8 per drink. Seating wise, they have 3 larger tables that can accommodate 4-5 people and a few smaller tables that can fit 1-3 people. The inside is very clean and so was their bathroom as well. 10/10 would come again!

Decent dessert place with a good selection! Small shop that serves a variety of Asian desserts and Asian drinks. Before ordering, we had a bit of help in deciding what to order as we didn't want to order items that were too sweet. We ultimately opted for their signature fruit tea that is served in a pot, their mango pancakes, and their red bean taro Mochi ice with ice cream. I think overall, desserts were okay, nothing out of the ordinary. I liked their mango pancakes because the ratio of fruit to cream was pretty good and the pancake covering outside wasn't really dense. The tea was alright too and had a sweet flavor from the fruit. The one thing I didn't really like was their red bean taro Mochi ice with ice cream. It is a really big portion but I just don't think it was that good. The ice cream was a big miss for me, I really just didn't like the flavor. The ingredients though are relatively plentiful so you don't have to worry about a scoop of ice without any ingredients.

My friend bought this to our gathering so we all tried it out. After all those lady M's rave from years ago, I have a low expectations for these crepes cakes. Much of a surprise, we all quite like the crepe cakes! Earl Grey: 4/5 The tea flavor was excellent. I could not help finding the little tea leaves on top of the crepe are bit unnecessary. It maybe worth considering a switch to something else for a better overall texture. Green tea: 5/5 Absolute standout. This is one of my favorite! The tea scent is very rich. Strawberry: 3/5 I'd say it tastes good but it didn't quite capture the spotlight compared to other flavors. Cream brûlée: 5/5 Perfectly made Trinity cream! It hit that sweet spot without being overly sugary. I would definitely be up for trying it again. Taro: 4/5 Love the taro scent. Whole enjoyable, it did not reach the surprising goodness of some of the other ones. Also, the taro makes the cake a bit too dense. Mango: not sure about this as we saved this to our other friend who came late. It looks like from the side that they have a few pieces of mango within the layers. IMO the cakes are tailored for a more Asian flavor, less sweet/sugary, which I love. This is not a place to go if you are craving for Western-style sugary dessert. The cakes are creamy and fluffy, changing my perspectives on crepe cakes being dense or pancake- like. Reading the menus, I found out how much they actually cost. At this price, I would consider getting the crème brûlée and the green tea flavor. Also, one thing to note: they gave a huge box for the six pieces of crepe cake, which I think is a bit of an overkill and not too environmentally friendly. I'm unsure if they ran out of the smaller boxes.

Decent dessert among a sea of other dessert places by Royal Oak station. Parking is free on the street after 2000. Yay. As others have mentioned, this place is cash only below $30. Something to keep in mind. The building is new, so everything inside is still shiny. Seating is a wee bit limited. There are maybe 20 spots. Group size 2-3 recommended. Staff are friendly and helpful. My friends and I shared several desserts. They have durian and grass jelly and sago and all those other Asian style items. Decent quality, and good pricing. Most importantly, they weren't too sweet. Definitely a good option to check out if one is in the area. Recommended.

Sugar Lab offers a variety of dessert options to choose from. They are most known for their crepe cakes and always have them in the display window. That's not all they have though because they also have mochi, dessert soup, pudding, bubble tea drinks and shaved ice. While all their dessert options looked tasty, we were going to eat our desserts outside so we wanted something portable. We decided to go with their pudding cups because that seemed the easiest to eat out of everything on the menu. I wasn't sure what this was so I decided to try it out. So what I was expecting was a layered pudding because it was a "pudding cup." Unfortunately, it was layers of "serradura" powder and whip cream with hardly any pudding at the bottom. I was so disappointed because I was so excited to try this out.

Dropping a star as I think the current business practice of only allowing the use of card payment for $30 and above is ridiculous. Most people do not carry that much cash now. Prices have also increased but that seemed to be the general trend in most F&B places. Good luck as there are so many other desserts and cafes places in this area now and they accept card payment.

Stopped by this cute cafe located near Metrotown! Came closer to their closing time, so some of their crepe cake was sold out. However, I still got to try the Strawberry crepe cake, which was not too sweet and very soft and delicious! They have a HUGE selection of drinks (bubble tea, milk tea, brewed tea) and desserts!! There was 4~5 tables to sit inside as well. I also got the Jasmine green tea, which was served in a tea pot. I think they mixed in some honey, because it didn't taste purely jasmine! I thought it added the perfect amount of sweetness and went really well with the green tea and the cake. I am excited to come again and check out their other crepe cakes!

** Sugar Lab is Cash only!!** Good place to bring a date or to catch up with friends! They open at 2pm, has super cute decor in the inside and very comfortable vibes. There's no one rushing you to leave which is a bonus :) My friend and I ordered the mango crepe cake, milk tea with pearls and a passionfruit bubble tea. Crepe cakes: this had a good balance between fruit and whipped cream. It was tender and not too sweet. You can really see all the layers which I found the most impressive part. Milk tea: Not too sweet. Very smooth and silky texture. I found there was milk than tea. But the pearls were very chewy and bouncy (which I like!!) Passionfruit Bubble tea: This was good!!! I asked for half sugar and I found this to be the perfect combination. Slightly tart but still had bright flavours :) Sugar Lab offers other flavours of crepe cakes. They seem to always have tiramisu, mango and matcha on hand. However if you come on a weekday, just be aware that you won't be able to try their black sesame and taro crepe cakes as they're only available on the weekends. Overall, the cakes were very good and I'm definitely a fan! I do find this place to be a bit pricey. Would definitely recommend coming here once in a while!!

I was quite disappointed at the restaurant because all the crepe cakes would be sold out. The crepe cakes were their main selling dishes at the restaurant. Some customers walked in and asked for crepe cakes but the server told them they did not have them anymore at night. The customers left the restaurant right away. My fiancé and I ordered a serradura pudding plant and durian pancakes because the restaurant was out of crepe cakes. We were disappointed at the two dishes. The serradura pudding plant was just some cream and some crumbs that built up the layers. I could do it myself at home. The durian pancakes had so much cream that the portion of durian was so little. Again I could buy some durian and cream and made the crepe myself. Then I could wrap the durian and cream altogether to be durian pancakes. I could go to somewhere else for crepe cakes but probably I won't come back here again unfortunately. Nothing else inspired us at this restaurant. They also sold some bubble tea drinks but I wouldn't have to go here for these beverages as there are so many good ones out there.

Cute dessert spot, very delicious crepe cakes. Quite a popular spot. Went in on a weekday 5 min after it opened and there were already other customers. The location is a little difficult to turn into from Kingsway but there is street parking right in front of the store. Overall a good experience.

So disappointed that I came and all the crepe cake were all sold out. I asked the server and they say usually they get a batch of people rushing in around 6 pm and usually that time its all gone. Oh well, will have to come back for that. I heard that this is one of the few places that offer crepe cake. A slice is $8.50 to $8.95 depending on the flavor. I was so close on getting my hands on one. The table before me got the last two slice. So we ended up getting the mango pancake and the chilled mango sago cream with pomelo. The mango pancake is pretty legit. It does have a pretty big slice of mango inside. I liked the chilled mango sago cream with pomelo more. Its very refreshing. The place itself is super small. Seems like there is always a long lineup. Depending on the time of day, be prepare to wait about 20 mins.

We ordered a cake set from Sugarlab for my wife's birthday. She specifically requested a Mille Cake and loves the Durian flavor. Once we contacted the store and ordered, they called and e-mailed the next day to check-in because one of the flavors was unavailable. The actual cake presentation was great and they personalized the name for us as well. I do not eat durian, but tried a bite for the heck of it and it wasn't awful. The Tiramisu cake on the other hand was excellent and more to my taste. read more

Very bright and simple white interior. I love the name Sugar lab...it's like foodie science. I came here to have the much hyped about dessert trend called Crepe cakes which are stacks of crepe with thin layers of cream or filling piled high and then served like a slice of cake. It was nice and fluffy, not too heavy, therefore, it satisfied the sweet tooth but didn't weigh me down like a brick. Customer service was friendly. They're still new so they are working out some kinks but it was very manageable. Lots of seating inside. Prices were very reasonable. read more

This cute little place is near Kal Tire and the Steve Nash Fitness world on Kingsway. There arent too many tables, maybe 5-6 and even on a Tuesday night, there was a bit of a wait for tables. They have a variety of desserts like shaved ice, dessert soups, crepe cakes and more. This was the first time I tried a crepe cake (8.95$) and it is quite interesting. It reminds me of eating a band-aid textured cake. It is quite good though. We also got a cold mango sago dessert soup with coconut milk, it was quite sweet so you will need to drink water afterwards to clear your taste buds. The workers are quite friendly here so that is always a plus. read more

I would have never known of the existence of this place if it weren't for Instagram and my foodie friends. This place really reminds me of Choco Coo in terms of it's aesthetics. I don't eat mille crepe often so I can't say how good or bad their version is compared to other places, but I can say that I really enjoyed it personally. We ordered the matcha and tiramisu crepe cake, and I surprisingly liked the tiramisu one more. Both weren't too sweet, but the tiramisu one had a stronger flavour which I appreciated. I think they need to use a bit more matcha so that there's a stronger taste. Overall I really enjoyed my visit and I will definitely be back! read more

I came around 2pm on a Saturday (peak time) and got seated right away by the kind server. The crepe cake is so light and fluffy and has lots of mango in it . There is a strong whipped cream taste so if you don't like that, I suggest trying the matcha or chocolate ones. The serradura pudding plant was really good and filling as well. It looks very small once you receive it but it's very filling and tasty. The workers are extremely kind and helpful read more

Came here with my bf for desserts and to see if it was better than the one in Richmond which was called the L'Otus Cake Boutique. Place was full but we got the last seating near the front so we were lucky. My bf ordered a durian slush which was kinda watered down so he was disappointed :[ We shared a matcha crepe cake which was pretty good. I liked this crepe cake more than the one in Richmond because there was more crepe than cream which is how a mille crepe should be made. The only thing I didn't like about this crepe cake was that it lacked matcha flavor. It was very mild. Overall, we would definitely come back to eat their crepe cakes but I wouldn't order the matcha one again. read more

Crepe cakes are pretty good here. I like that the store is very bright and clean. We had matcha crepe cake, mango crepe cake, and serradura crepe cake out of curiosity. The crepes were soft, just enough cream in between layers, not too much. Every single piece of cake is properly layered, even with mango chuncks, it wasn't falling apart. read more

This happened TWICE already where I called days in advance to reserve a cake and when I arrive to pick it up, they ran out of the flavour I ordered. The first time I arrived on time and they said they got my order wrong. The second time I was late and they just gave my cake away. WTF?? What is the point of pre ordering then if it's just first come first serve. Terrible and ruined my birthday. read more

I was so sorely disappointed in the service we received today. We ordered drinks and a mango crepe cake - before accepting our order, our server checked the display to ensure that a slice of the cake was available. I was glad that we got in when we did, because there was only one slice of mango crepe cake was left. I watched her place our drinks and a slice of cake onto the tray that she would eventually bring over to our table. However, what she didn't realize is that I also watched her take the slice of cake from the tray and give it to another table, before coming over to me to say that she had just realized that they'd run out of mango cakes. There are so many issues with this: 1. There could not have been any mix-ups or sudden realizations, as she was the only server 2. How is it acceptable to take something from one table's order and give it to another table? 3. We were blatantly lied to read more

Whipped cream and sugar wrapped in a small, thin crepe. This was one dish. Layers of whipped cream alternating with sugar and fine granulated peanuts. This was the second dish. If I wanted to eat whipped cream with sugar, I could buy a can of it at Superstore and go at it at home. Why would I pay money to eat it in a nice cafe? I don't know. One of those great mysteries. read more

The music was so loud, I almost needed ear plugs! After a longer than expected wait for take out, I was not wowed by the mango crepe cake. It was probably frozen and a bit mushy after thawing. I've had better and will keep looking for the best crepe cake. read more

It's so lucky cuz i've got the last slice of durian crepe cake! I also tried mango crepe cake and taro pan cake yesterday. Honestly, mango crepe cake is just ok,it's cheaper than lotus cake but it tastes like mixed up some chemical syrup..maybe the price shows quality lol. Durian that one is better. Otherwise, taro texture is good and mashed but i don't think it was made by fresh taro.. All of these items was too greasy(specially whip cream!)...Out of expectation and quite disappointed. I'll try some watery dessert next time tho. read more

The service is really great. The lady in the front is friendly and nice. But their cakes and bubble tea isn't good. I ordered the crepe cake and it's so creamy with little sugar. It's like eating cream. The bubble tea we ordered isn't good either.. Barely any flavour. read more

Had a mango shaved ice with mochi but they forgot the mochi and gave it to us in a tiny bowl. The service is really slow. Compared to how large the shaved ice was there was very little mochi. The shaved ice is also mango flavoured. It was tasty but super sweet. Seating is very limited so you might have to wait long. read more

I've heard of these crazy layered crepe cakes but have never tried it for myself.. until now. Especially since they have it in durian! I have absolutely died and gone to heaven. We also had the durian pocket things and I'm pretty sure I had a foodgasm stroke. The service was very courteous and quick so that was the durian on top. Can you tell I love durian? I can't wait to go back. read more

I have ordered take out twice here. Each time the fabulous durian crepe cake. Those who love durian will really like this. Always pungent and with pieces of durian. Glad it wasn't mashed durian. I've tried the mango and tiramisu. Both were good as well. A bit pricey but I rather eat a slice than make crepe cakes in the kitchen. read more

This place is super cute! It is very bright with the lights and white decor, but the touch of green plants makes this a very vibrant cafe. We tried the matcha crepe cake and the Chinese dumplings in soup. The crepe cake was good, not great. We found the crepe a little chewy and not enough flavour (though I do prefer strong flavours). The dumplings were disappointing. It was literally flour dumplings in sugar water (I guess it is quite literal to its name). We did find them a little soggy. I might come back if I'm in the area, but I don't think I'll come out of my way for this. Service is great though! read more

It was my first time there and my experience was really awful. The servers didn't place us at the seat, so we set wherever we wanted. Honestly, the prices are overrated (~10$ for a piece of cake) and my mango crepe cake didn't have full mango flavor that i was expecting to have. THEY DON'T SERVE COFFEE! and as a server said they even don't have a hot tea (or maybe she didn't understand me), which is very interesting for me. Anyways, I won't go there for a second time. read more

Me and my boyfriend was craving for sweet at night then we found sugar lab. There are so good that all the popular was sold out (mango, matcha..) so we end up ordering this chocolate crepe cake. The proportion of each layer is so perfect and it will be even more perfect is order with the jasmine milk tea(my personal favourite milk tea) Do recommend this place read more

Great menu, but quite small. Recommend the Oreo Milkshake or a Taro milk tea with pearls. Drinks come in cute plastic coffee holders which I bring home. Very nice and clean place to study or just hang with friends. read more

Came here to hang out with a friend. The aesthetics of this newly opened place is on point. I went late in the afternoon and it was not crowded or loud which is a plus. I highly recommend the mango pancake which came in a set of two. The cream inside of the pancake was fresh and the mango was juicy. As for the jasmine milk tea with sago, it could have been more flavourful but at least it wasn't too sweet. The service was also good. Will definitely come back to try their mille crepe cakes! read more

The lineup moves pretty quickly but seats are often taken. Tables don't get wiped down often as staff are busy making cones but you can always ask them to wipe it down for you. Great dessert place for something light and refreshing.
