I visited Lotus cake boutique Burnaby location for limited time sakura collection items…read more What we got: Matcha Raspberry Mousse Cup Earthy matcha balanced with bright raspberry Matcha Strawberry Milk Fresh, fruity, and layered to perfection Strawberry Hojicha Milk Rich roasted tea with a sweet berry twist Matcha raspberry mousse cup was just ok. It was not overly sweet, presentation was beautifual, however, raspberry mousse was partially frozen, a bit watery, and flavor was very weak. Hojicha milk was just ok. Hojicha cream form was very creamy and good, but, flavor was very weak. Strawberry puree was fine, Strawberry puree and cream form dominate this drink. I wish hojicha flavor could be more stronger. Matcha strawberry milk was ok, too. matcha flavor was not too strong, strawberry drink part was good. Cream form was very creamy and good. All items prices were on higher side. Next time, I might try at Richmond locataion.

L'OTUS Cake Boutique in Metrotown is a wonderful place to slow down and enjoy dessert…read more The space itself is bright, spacious, and aesthetically pleasing, making it a great spot to hang out with friends or enjoy a quiet cake-and-tea moment. There's a wide variety of cakes and drinks, so it's easy to find something whether you're into classic flavours or more adventurous options. We tried several cakes, double-layer cheesecake, dark chocolate crepe, durian crepe, gelato, matcha with cheese foam, and tea. Honestly, we couldn't pick a favourite--everything was delicious. Even the durian crepe, which surprised us in the best way. It was creamy, well-balanced, and not overpowering. Overall, the cakes stood out, and every bite felt thoughtfully crafted. If you're looking for a café with great ambiance and consistently good desserts, this place is definitely worth visiting. Highly recommend their cake selections.

Maison Mori - Black shio bread

Maison Mori is my regular go to bakery. Since they opened, I don't know how many times I visited…read morehere. My favorite is Soboro chestnut cube, sweet potato cube, Shio pan, mugwort mochi bun, mochi mochi bread and roll cakes. Cube breads are excellent items. Dough is very soft and fillings are great, especially Soboro chestnut cube's small chestnut pieces and crunchy soboro topping makes it addictive. Shio pan is very buttery , one of the best in town. I also liked Mochi mochi bread which had very chewy texture like mochi, but this time, I felt the one I had in the past tasted better. However, Rich bread was very good. The dough is similar to brioche with very rich, buttery flavor. This one is definitely better than before. Overall, I really liked their products. Highly recommend if you have a chance to visit North road

I've been to Maison Mori many times and have purchased a variety of items, from cakes to Swiss…read morerolls to bread... Nothing really stood out in my mind. I've long heard about Korean salt bread and had been wanting to try. Maison mori offered a couple of salt bread selections. I didn't know which to get so I asked for recommendations. The staff wasn't helpful at all. "They're all good." She also said the bread is Korean style bread that is popular in Korea. Then I asked why use the Japanese word for salt, i.e. "shio". She then responded that the bread is Japanese style. Like, which is it? Korean or Japanese? After consulting Gemini AI, the two styles are fundamentally the same but the texture is different. Regardless of Japanese or Korean style, I got the original and black (squid ink). I honestly don't see what the hype is. It's essentially just butter roll with salt sprinkled on top. Lol.
