Sugar Kingdom is a candy shop that recently replaced a small grocery store on central Saint George Island near the bridge to the mainland. The owners have clearly invested in colorful decor and abundant and varied supply. The decorations are bright and inviting. Sugar Kingdom has a vast selection of candies, unique soda flavors and ice cream. That is the good. Unfortunately, the candy and soda prices are unusually high. The ice cream portions are quite a bit smaller than the ice cream shop a few businesses down the road. Also, the taffy and fresh chocolate is quite a bit more expensive than at independent retailers in Apalachicola. We bought a small amount of loose, chocolate covered malted milk balls (Whoppers). They were grossly overpriced and do not seem fresh. I could almost taste the artificial container they were stored in. Frankly, the carton of Whoppers I periodically buy from Walmart or Publix are far fresher and more reasonably priced. While we would like to support this business the exorbitant prices and small portions make this visit our first and last.

I bought 3 labubu but they were fake!! Please beware DO NOT BUY. They don't even have a phone number for me to call.

    Candy galore!

Amazing choice is candys!! Old fashioned candy's as well as new types of candy's. There is ribbon candy, sours, gummy bears as well as gummy chicken feet and gummy mushrooms. There was lots of candies that I had never even heard of! You could spend hours in this shop just looking at all thr candy. They also have fudge ans icecream. While we did not try the fudge, the icecream was really good. The only draw back was the 2 young girls working ,they never spoke to anyone in the shop, never welcomed anyone and there were 3 other people in the shop while the 2 of us were there. When we was looking at the icecream, there was never an offer to allow us to try any of it. Except to give me a total of my purchases, there wasn't any other conversation. No welcome, no thank you. But the shop was clean and stocked.

I know there has to be a markup but 300-500% is outrageous! A simple push up Pop you can get in the supermarket at $1.98 was over $5!!! I would not have bought it if the price was marked! Never again!!!

Tons of candy and a great selection of candy that you can't find at gas stations or anywhere else! Amazing TEN COOLER DOORS of unique and novel soda bottles and cans, too!

Great clean store and would recommend coming in on your trip so you can pick up some yummy candy and drinks or a cold ice cream.

Hot fudge wasn't hot, but lots of flavors of ice cream. Has everything from salt water taffy to truffles. It's a cute place.

We have passed this place on the way to Quitman so many times thinking we would stop on the way…read moreback to Tallahassee and finally it worked out. I'm glad it finally did. Their retail store is a much smaller version of the products you see at the pecan and candy shops along the interstate. This is located at the facility where the products are made. They have samples out for most, if not all, of their products to help you decide what you want. That's assuming you don't want one of everything. We got dark chocolate covered pecans, chocolate covered dried cherries, chocolate covered blueberries, divinity and a gift box of chocolate covered pecans. We easily met the "deal" requirements for a free peanut brittle. We got to taste samples of everything except the peanut brittle. I don't remember seeing samples of that. All of the chocolate covered candies are delicious but the big surprise was the peanut brittle. I used to love peanut brittle but I had given up on it a long time ago for fear of breaking a tooth. I decided to get it out for our family Christmas gathering and took a little piece, figuring to just suck on it until it melted. Turned out it was easily crunchable and not too sweet. Of the variety of things I put out to munch on this Christmas Day, their brittle was one of the hits. This assures that we will make sure to stop at Dillon Candy and not pass by. Their prices are reasonable. The choices are limited to what they make. Many of the products are in generic packaging rather than their retail packaging which probably helps keep the prices down. The store is small and they have regular business hours Monday-Friday, 8-5. If you are passing through on US 84 during that time you need to stop.

Everything felt fresh, welcoming, and well cared for, which immediately set the tone for a great experience. Cleanliness really matters to me, especially when visiting with my kids...and Sugar Planet exceeded expectations! What truly made our visit unforgettable, though, was David. He was phenomenal. My 10 year old son had a LOT of excitement and curiosity, and David handled all of it with incredible patience and genuine kindness, especially when my son was checking out and counting his money. He took his time, never rushed us, and made my son feel comfortable, heard, and important. You can tell he truly enjoys what he does and cares about the people who walk through the door. David's friendly attitude and calm, positive energy turned what could have been a quick stop into a really special experience for us. My kids left smiling, excited, and already asking when we can come back, which says everything. If you're looking for a clean, welcoming place with outstanding customer service, Sugar Planet is it. And if you're lucky enough to be helped by David, you're guaranteed an even better experience. We will absolutely be returning and recommending this place to everyone we know.

I was overjoyed to find SkyBar's... they do not sell them regularly in stores anymore, or at least not where I live - used to have them as a kid in New England. I got an assortment of truffles, s'more's dipped chocolate treat, and Dubai chocolate to try. So much to look at in here! Small mix of some retro candies and some newer trends- if you're looking to spend some money on a novelty experience, there is definitely something for everybody here. The cashier was also very kind and professional!
