Loved that combination, and the ube taiyaki was another favorite- im a sucker for ube. It came out fresh and warm, which made it that much better like a warm hug. This was supposed to be a quick stop, but I liked it enough to come back the very next day to try more flavors! On my second visit, I tried the Thai tea filling and another one I believe was Oreo ice cream swirl. The ube is still the one I'd come back for, but it was fun trying something different. Service: The staff was super friendly and helpful. Since it was my first time, I appreciated them helping me figure out what to order. There were several things I wanted to try, so having them tell me their favorite was a no brainer it made the experience even better. Atmosphere: The space was clean and had plenty of seating. I appreciated being able to sit down and enjoy everything while the taiyaki was still warm. A nice spot to take a little dessert break and a nice vibe. This is definitely a place to take a date! Overall: Coming back two days in a row probably says enough about how much I enjoyed Rice Culture! Between the fresh, warm taiyaki, the ube sesame ice cream swirl, and the friendly staff, this was an easy place to love. Definitely recommend trying the ube sesame swirl if you're having trouble deciding!

The onigiris were all pretty good. The matchas were great flavors but not quality grade. The ambiance is casual and there's tons of cute anime art on the wall.

There's plenty of seating, but it does get busy, especially during peak hours. There's an attached parking lot, which makes stopping by super convenient. Wife and I sat at the Chef's Counter for a truly wonderful meal last night. The menu is exceptional, five courses, several with two options, and the progression was just perfect. We really loved all of the dishes, but for sure the ravioli with wild asparagus and ramps is one I will remember for a long time. The octopus was also a memorable dish, and the poussin was complex, layer after layer of flavor and the salt level was so good...just perfect food, perfectly executed. Oh, and shout out to the owner's dad, who is in his 90s and makes the bread, a rich sourdough, served warm, that has a 50 year old starter at its essence. Yum. We did the wine pairings and I def recommend. Some really good wines, curated from small vineyards globally, matched perfectly and well presented. The sommelier nailed it. We also just loved the service. Nice touches pre arrival, they are expecting you when you arrive and there's a lovely personal touch and welcoming feel. The ambience is warm, and you can hear and talk and it does feel like you're at a dinner party with friends and family. Finally, shout out to the chefs and servers. Knowledgable, conversational, and charming. We really enjoyed the Chef's Counter and the entire experience. Kudos to Chef Jon Krinn and his family for creating this masterpiece of a restaurant. It is Michelin star worthy, and we cannot wait to go back.

And honestly, they pulled out all the stops for their recent New Years Eve dining experience - I'm talking caviar, white truffle, A5 wagyu, a custom cocktail (because they know I like gin and yuzu) and a painfully decadent dessert - What a way to send out 2025! I mean, honestly, the meal was exquisite and so perfectly executed. Each dish is crafted with a passion and care for food that absolutely shines. I mean the Foie Gras (sp??) - I don't even really like the stuff, put the way they sauteed it, put it on top of some sort of savory cake and slathered it with this balsamic gastrique - it was like bacon and pancakes smothered in maple syrup just amplified to 100. Bottom line: I would eat this every day (and amplify my weight by 100 too). The snow crab, I don't know if it's the care in selecting the product or the techniques used to prepare it (probably both ), but they packed so much crab flavor into that dish! And the dark chocolate cheesecake, it was magic that can make something so dark, so bold, so rich feel so light when you are eating it. This was just one specific meal here, but I am surprised and delighted every time we get the privilege to dine at Elyse. It's not just the food, it's the atmosphere and the attention of the staff. The second time, we came during a brunch time on a Saturday, they were open! So we finally got to try what they had to offer. We ordered the bo ne and also the banh mi chao. And honestly the bread here was by far I think the best that we've had since being here in DC. It was freshly baked and it was fluffy. With the bo ne, it was a wonderful pair where you could dip into the sauce and still have that fluffy bread soak it all up. The food did take a while to come out because they made everything fresh. There's also gorgeous seating outside since it can get crowded. For food, you order from the front and they'll call you when the food is ready. We ordered the dubai gelato and pistachio lokmas. Both were presented tastefully to make sure our eyes and cameras wanted to eat before our stomachs. The dubai gelato was a quality dessert with a good ratio of milk: cream. The pistachio flavor was evident on top, but it was just a kinda tart vanilla ice cream with toppings. I did like it, however, and it paired well with the lokmas. The lokmas were fried to perfection, a nice amount of chewy, and covered with a good ratio of pistachio cream. They were a decent size and conducive to sharing. The prices of everything, overall, was pretty expensive, but the quality definitely made up for it. The iced latte came out to around $12 after tax and tip, so I'll probably only come back occasionally.
