The service was great, no issues, neat little place. Coffee was meh, sounded better than the actual product. Would stop again but try something different. Both our coffees were not terribly impressive. Also grabbed two oatmeal cream pies which were just two oatmeal cookies with sweet frosting. Disappointed as well. This place is a super cute place to grab some brunch/lunch with friends or sip on coffee while getting some work completed. They have nice outdoor seating and plenty of seating indoors. The College and Holy Hill sandwiches were both delicious and filling , but the College came out on top! I would skip the pasta salad side which was a very small portion and did not have much flavor. read more

I love getting their cinnamon rolls at the Harrisonburg Farmers Market on Saturdays! So good!!! Their chai latte isn't my favorite, but their homemade cinnamon rolls make up for it. I have yet to go into their store as I've only gotten things from the farmers market, but they have a nice selection of pastries and coffee options there. read more

Family business. Picked up a veg lentil soup and a lentil curry soup--tasty! Also a very rich brownie--good though not as much butter as my ideal. Ate a really nice salad in-house. The music was a little loud, but they turned it down when I asked if there was anywhere quieter. Was about to head back there right now to re-stock up on their soup! I LOVE Sugar and Bean!! I have been going to this place since it opened. The coffee and food is spot on. They have oat milk which is an essential for me and not all cafes have. I stopped in to get a couple of sandwiches. We had the holly hill and Main Street. Both were packed with some much flavor. I could eat the Holly Hill again. The rosemary mayo added a nice savory touch. The food was a bit greasy. So be prepared for that. Additionally, I got some of baked cookies, which were so scrumptious. Definitely, recommend getting a set of those too. Lastly, the coffee shop looked so quaint. I liked the decor. Perfect local eatery. read more

I love this cafe! Great options for breakfast and lunch. I haven't tried the pastries yet. My favorite for breakfast is the Wildwood (but the Seven Bridges is also a fantastic option) and I get the Holly Hill for lunch. They just added lavender to their latte flavors which I'm a huge fan of. Plus the people are so friendly and my dogs get treats each time we use the drive up option. read more

I've had a few negative experiences with sugar and bean through rude staff and issues with my order, but I've overlooked it up until now because I genuinely liked the place. Most recently I placed an order on a week day and put it to be ready by 2pm, at 2:10 I received a call asking if everything was okay and if I was still coming for my order. Now I could understand if it had been 30 minutes but it was 10 minutes past the time I put and I was about to pull in the lot. It also was completely dead when I got there so I'm not sure why my food waiting a few extra minutes mattered that much. That same day I had my mom call and ask if they'd make an iced London fog they said yes and made it and it was great. A few days later I tried ordering the same thing through their website and I received a call after I placed the order telling me that's not something they do. I said even though they had done it like two days before that? The girl said this is what the owner said and asked if I wanted to speak to her, I said sure. The owner told me an iced London fog isn't something they consider up to their standards so they wouldn't do it. I told her they had done it for me a few days prior and she said she would let her staff know they don't do those. But after all of that I'm wondering why they will have the hot version on their menu but can't make it iced because it's not up to their standards? It was the last negative encounter I will have with Sugar & Bean. I will take my business elsewhere from now on. read more
