Love Suenos!!! Atmosphere: I was a beginner and had no idea what to expect. Suenos is super welcoming and warm to new comers. Lessons experience: (Salsa) All the instructors (Mojan, Michael, & Kelly) were friendly and easy going. They were all excellent teachers - giving you pointers and allowing you to practice. They pointed out common mistakes so you can avoid and they gave you extra things you can add to your dance that was slightly above your level to push you. I've taken Level I and Level II - the structure is a warm up, then lesson led by the instructors and you dance switching partners every few minutes, and then at the end you get your phones out and film the instructors doing the steps of the day so you can practice the steps at home. Level I is basic and then Level II really steps it up - it seems many people retake Level II multiple times so they can practice more and there's different steps to learn each time since they mix it up. The lessons were reasonable - ~$80 for 4 lessons. If you do the membership, you can drop into many classes whenever you want. This is the most worth it if you plan on really dedicating yourself and coming here often. Dance Socials: They have socials for Salsa & Bachata on Wednesday nights. It's $5 if you're a student and $10 if you're not. I find that these socials are a great time to practice what you've learned. Everyone that comes out are super friendly and welcoming. I have not had a bad experience here. People of all levels come out and dance. It's OK if you are new - you just jump in and have a good time. If you're thinking of learning Bachata or Salsa, I highly recommend Suenos. I know there are many other studios out there but I think Suenos is the best! Awesome studio with fun and helpful instructors! We got a Groupon for dance lessons, both group and private lessons, of which our last private session was held here. We still have group classes left to utilize - hopefully they'll be allowed to reopen sooner rather than later! Parking in this area can be tricky if there isn't anything available right on Lake City Way. You can try parking by the FedEx and on the other side of Elliott Bay Brewing and crossing the street but I don't know if that's safe to do without risking being towed! read more

Micheal was one of my first salsa Teachers! He is very humble and down to earth for his level of knowledge and expertise in dance. I learned alot from him, I stumbled upon his studio in Fremont when i was just starting out in dance. I took some of his drop-in lesson and after i asked him what he taught in his weekday group classes. And he replied with wide eyes "I teach people to Dance!". I was sold and took multiple series and also trained under him in his dance team. Micheal is humble and one of the best salsa/bachata teachers one can find in seattle area! Too bad he relocated his studio all the way north to Lake city. But the new studio is big and has a great vibe on his weekly socials. He is 100 percent recommended!! This place was so cheap with the groupon I have no idea how Michael even makes money off it! My bf and I signed up for the 5-week Salsa 1 class for $29 ALTOGETHER. I have wanted to try out salsa lessons for SO long. My boyfriend took me to this studio for Valentine's Day, and we had an amazing time. The instructor is awesome at breaking things down in an easy to understand way and had us laughing and smiling the whole time. 1,2,3 - 5,6,7! Michael drills the foundation of salsa in you and you'll never not hear the 1,2,3 - 5,6,7! My boyfriend and I just finished the 5 week course and we've really enjoyed it. I've had my share of dance lessons and was mostly worried about my boyfriend not enjoying himself, but after our first class he was looking forward to all the other classes! Michael goes really slow and makes sure everyone gets it. He explains rookie mistakes beforehand to basically nip the bud before it becomes a habit. I really like that he makes us take videos of him and his partner at the end of class going over the material that day so you have a resource at home to use. He can be very humorous at times, letting us grasp that you should enjoy yourself more than anything. He goes through a lot of material and highly advised us to keep practising at home to hone what we learned that day. The Groupon was a STEAL, $30 for a 5 week course for the both of us? It's so reasonable it's almost stupid NOT to give it a try, especially if you've always wanted to learn salsa. The only thing was that we're in Tacoma so we had to make the drive out to Fremont every Sunday. It's not too bad though, and gives us a reason to explore Seattle. I really do love how vibrant Fremont is and love that the studio is there. The studio itself is snug and small, but I find it very cute. They will be moving studios very soon though, regardless, Michael is an amazing instructor and you'd be lucky to learn salsa from him. read more

I've been taking classes there a bit over two months and every time class ends, I look forward to the next week. The instructor, Michael, and all his assistants are all very fun and helpful. Music is great. Even if you're not much of a dancer, you will be able to follow his cues. The only downside is that during game nights, it's really difficult to find parking. I randomly stumbled on salsa at Century Ballroom last year at a social dance. As I was dancing with people, not one, not two, but three people said Michael at Sueños de Salsa was the best guy to learn from in The Seattle metropolitan area. I took the beginner class and have been hooked since. I just recently bought the membership, which gives you unlimited classes, and I plan to continue. Instruction is straightforward, funny yet still professional, appropriate for dancer levels (I.e. you feel good about the dancing that you can do, which can help you get over initial awkwardness of learning), and the community is really a wonderful group to be around in general. You will get the most for your money at Sueños de Salsa. 100/10 would recommend to anyone who just wants to try something new, or become a better dancer. read more

I friend recommended this studio and I'm so glad I went. I paid for a 5 week Salsa 2 workshop and liked it so much I will probably be signing up for a membership next. The workshops are a group setting but Michael does an excellent job and giving individual feedback to everyone in the group. That isn't usually something I've experienced in other group classes. I was very impressed with Michael's teaching style, you can tell he is very passionate about what he does. I feel like I've learned more in the 4 classes I've taken so far than I have in the numerous group classes in the past at other studios. I look forward to taking more workshops there. As for the studio, it is small but has a good vibe and the other students/members are all very friendly and you feel very supported there. My husband and I have taken a number of partner-dancing lessons together, and Michael's classes are the best we've had. First of all, he makes the class fun and is very welcoming. My last profession was a dancer from over 15 years ago and I recently decided to take up Salsa. Although I had experience i was extremely nervous and shy. I researched different dance studios in my area and I was specifically looking for an instructor with patience and great reviews. This is when I found Suenos De Salsa. I was nervous even walking into the studio to get information. I walked in and happened to meet Michael right away. Upon meeting Michael my nerves washed away immediately. Michael is genuine and down to earth. The right energy is crucial for me in a learning environment especially being self concious as I am. So, initial intro day was perfection. Now I am super excited. Then comes day 1 of actually doing a class. Instant nerves chilling me to the bone. Maybe ridiculous to some, but it is what it is. I walk in and there is the same energy from Michael calming my nerves instantly. The energy he generates comes from love and passion for dance and I can tell he just loves to share it with others. I have worked with at least 15+ instructors/choreographers, so I speak from experience. Michael is, hands down the most elite teacher ever and what makes me feel this way are several very important things for me. 1) Michael has ultimate patience, there is no frustration whatsoever from him when we (beginners) make the same mistake over and over again for easy technical things. This is paramount for me when learning. When I feel someone is even slightly frustrated my learning mechanism turns off and I fall apart. 2) Michael has a true love for dance and not only enjoys sharing it, but gets a thrill watching people improve from his teachings. 3) He is funny and makes us laugh in class which also assists calming people with nerves like me. 4) Michael is encouraging. I alone strive to better myself in dance and his energy accelerates my goal to become a better dancer. 5) Michael gives positive reinforcement when he sees his students succeeding. This one is incredibly critical. Last important fact, I go to classes 3 times per week and the drive is 45 minutes each way. If he had classes 7 days per week I would be going there everyday, schedule permitting. Sorry if this is over the top for some, but it is how I feel. I don't write many reviews but we just had to say something about our horrible experience here. My partner and I signed up for a salsa class via Groupon here and on the second class we were discriminated against blatantly. I definitely do NOT recommend this place. We were going along with the drop in class and having fun, everything was fine until halfway through they had us pair up - so we did but we were the only same sex couple in the class. At this time the class was split into two groups: advanced and new dancers. It was our second time, so we didn't exactly fit into either group. The instructor, Michael, singled us out and told us to continue practicing moves from the first lesson in the corner, and he started teaching the new dancers. At first we thought maybe the new dancers just needed to catch up, but when we noticed they were learning moves beyond our first class and tried to join them the instructor blatantly ignored us and kept turning away when we went up to ask for further instruction several times. We waited for awhile and when it was clear he simply didn't want to deal with us we left. A second comment is that the courses are structured in a very hetero-normative fashion, as they taught the class using male/female terminology rather than just using leads and follows. Due to this it was uncomfortable for one of us to take lead roles when practicing. It would be very easy for them to use lead and follow language instead of male/female language. This was really a very upsetting experience doubly because it was very underhanded and confusing, and we sincerely hope that no one else gets treated that way at any studio. That instructor needs to either state that they are a homophobic course only welcome to hetero-normative couples or to get some lessons in inclusivity. We will NEVER be going back. It took us a long time to write this review as we considered the impact such a review might have but it's important that people know when something like this happens so that it hopefully won't happen to anyone else. read more

This has been an awesome experience! My partner and I are taking Salsa 1 and because of a schedule conflict, we were going to miss the first class. Michael worked with us with an orientation session the weekend before so that we would get the basics before the second week's class. He and his partner Liz are excellent instructors, breaking down each new move into simple, understandable components. We spend the first half of each class practicing what we've previously learned, so that we're solid on that before learning new moves. I didn't think I was going to like rotating partners, but that has been surprisingly helpful and enjoyable.
