I've lived in the Villa Park area for about 15 years, and have never heard anyone say anything good/bad about this car wash So I've been reluctant to wash any of my vehicles here. I currently own a 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT (Which wasn't cheap) and don't really want to entrust it with anyone without some sort of recommendation.
They do advertise "free" vacuum service at this location though. So every great once in a while I'll swing through to use this service (I think I've done it twice). I washed my SUV yesterday at the self service place down the street, and figured I'd save a buck and vacuum out my vehicle here.
I have the weathertech floor mat's in my SUV and had to take them out to vacuum the interior. Unfortunately, I had a lot on my mind and forgot to put one of the floor mat's back in, and left it sitting against the wall after I was done. As I was leaving, I did notice someone walking out of the building and made a mental note he was an employee.
When I got into my truck later that night, I realized I left one of the weathertech's there. Since a set cost about $100, I immediately drove back to the location with the hopes it was where I left it. Unfortunately it wasn't. I stopped by this afternoon to see if they still had it. I walked in the building and recognized the guy there from yesterday. I told him I left my weathertech floor mat there the day before and asked if they still had it.
He remembered me and the mat but didn't say if he still had it or not. Instead he immediately began lecturing me that the "free" vacuums are for people that get their car's washed there. After listening to him accuse me of basically stealing from them for using their "free" service, I asked about my floor mat again. Which he replied a customer in a Cadillac Escalade took it.
Since weathertech floor mats will only fit the vehicle they are made for, it made no sense to me that an Escalade owner would want it. He didn't offer any explanation when I questioned why an Escalade owner would grab it, or why he would let someone else take it. He simply replied that the other guy took it and tried to resume his lecture about the "free" service.
It became obvious I wasn't getting my floor mat back very quickly. Since I had no desire to get into a debate about the meaning of the word "free", or what that had to do with getting my floor mat back, I got into my SUV and simply left. Unfortunately, based on his reaction to my situation, I suspect what really happened was he got mad when he saw I didn't get my car washed there and threw it away.
Ultimately this place could be the best car wash in the world, but it has horrible customer service in my opinion. While I have no one to blame but myself for my own forgetfulness, his poor customer service skills guaranteed I'll never get my car washed here. read more
