It is a smaller, intimate place. Our server was excited about the menu which was nice. She ordered everything for me basically when I asked for her usuals. Definitely order the espresso martini and Gallo alla Vodka. My wife ordered the fettuccine alfredo and was excited about it so that is a win.

We started with the Focaccia plate with olive oil w/seasonings sprinkled on top. The focaccia was amazing but I really missed the traditional olive oil & basalmic vinegar. With just the oil for dipping, it was pretty blah, IMHO. Hubby ordered the Spaghetti & 3 large Meatballs that were about 2" diameter. I ordered the Creste de Gallo ala Vodka w/sausage. BOTH were delicious but after my first 2 bites, my mouth was on fire. I'm a real wimp when it comes to hot spicy foods :( so it was no one's fault but mine (It would be nice though if they would put little peppers next to the spicier dishes). But once again, Hubby rescued me and made me trade dishes with him. Sorella's is clean, the staff is friendly & efficient. We also like the rustic vibe with artwork reflecting the ocean. But, it is STILL our favorite place in Newport!

The scoops are a decent size and prices are reasonable for the quality and size of the servings. They have a large selection of flavours and they will give samples. There was only one server working when we were there but she was very friendly and efficient. She had great patience with the small children. This will be a must stop on future trips to Newport.

With several varieties of ice cream from more than one vendor, you are always able to find a flavor of your choice. With the addition of shaved ice as well, you just cannot go wrong here. Always clean and upbeat, this is a really nice place to get ice cream after spending the day at the beach. The wait times is usually non existent, maybe just a few minutes at most and even at their busiest, but that also gives you some time to select that flavor you have been looking for. For me was the dark cherry ice cream that I like to treat myself with. This particular time I had it in a kids cup, which this day was just the right amount! This will always be a go to anytime we are in Newport and the sun is out!

It's pretty small inside and definitely has an antique shop feel. There's lots of different styles and things around. There are a few small tables scattered throughout. The lady at the front was very kind and happy to walk us through their options. They have one small case that's mostly savory and one small case that's sweets with a tiny truffle case on the counter. I think the move here is the cinnamon roll, but when we arrived they were still baking, which meant it smelled delightful, but were weren't able to try one. We ended up trying the breakfast muffin, which was really unique. It's a muffin with cheese and spinach baked in, along with an entire strip of bacon just under the surface, and an entire egg baked in the middle. It was good, but I'm not sure I would order it again. I'm not usually a scone fan, I prefer a muffin, but their scones looked good. We tried the blueberry lemon and the cranberry orange. They were both really flavorful with a good texture, not super dry. The blueberry edged out the cranberry for me because the blueberries were fresh, whereas the cranberry were dried. This is a cute small shop, clearly making everything from scratch with passion. I'd stop back in for a cinnamon roll for sure!

Nate 2026 Newport, Oregon…read more Came here based on recommendations from somebody in Bend, Oregon, and a local. I will start by saying I was not impressed. We had a reservation and they took us in a few minutes early and sat us upstairs. We sat near the window that overlooks the harbor and could see it from our table. Very pretty. There is a bar area and other tables that are away from the window that don't have the same view. When we were approached by the waitress, she informed us that they were out of Dungeness crab. Our reservation was at 6:15 PM. Seems a bit odd that a town known for Dungeness crab and the restaurant doesn't have it during peak dinner hours. My husband ordered a cup of clam chowder, and I ordered a cup of the Dungeness crab soup. I loved the creaminess of my soup. However, it was not served hot. Also, there were so many shells in my soup that every bite I had to remove one from my mouth. I do believe that the roux sauce had too much flour and was not mixed well. The clam chowder was not creamy, but had a good flavor. Chunks of carrot and celery. Both soups were served with a portion of bread. The bread was good. We shared the salmon dish. We asked our waitress if we could have the peas on the side as my husband has an allergy to peas. She was quick to tell me that there would be no substitutions. I informed her I was merely asking for the peas to put on a separate dish when brought to the table. She said that she would need to clear it with the kitchen first. Apparently, they approved, as the peas were served on the side. We did enjoy the salmon. It is cooked, medium rare. However, the middle of the salmon fillet was more rare. The buttery sauce was delicious and the asparagus was cooked very well. The mushrooms were delicious. The restaurant is very casual. The outside is not much to look at. The service was fine, but not exceptional. The food was good, but my expectations were so much higher for all of the accolades I had heard prior to dining. They add an automatic tip of 20% to every tab. Then on the bill, they politely ask for an additional gratuity. See the picture of the reason for their 20% gratuity on each bill in the photos that I have attached. I would give this restaurant four stars. It is a B rating for what should be an A restaurant.

Chalet Restaurant & Bakery Review 2026 N Coast Hwy, Newport,…read moreOR 97365 https://www.chaletrestaurantnewport.com/menus-1/main-menus/ Rating 4 of 5 A local restaurant that specializes in friendly service and hometown cooking. As you walk in, you gaze at a large display of pies, and other baked goods that are mouthwatering to look at. The restaurant was spotless, despite being very busy that day. We were seated quickly, and I noticed that the back of the seat dividers were extended higher. So, no issues with young kids hanging over their seats staring at you while you eat your food. Our waitress arrived quickly, and the coffee was served quickly. For those patrons using sugar, you have yellow, pink, blue, or refined sugar. For creamer, just the standard. For our taste, the coffee was weak, but we have been accused of drinking strong coffee. My wife ordered pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. The bacon was cooked to perfection, with just the right firmness. This is always a hit/miss at restaurants. However, the pancakes were thin, and the syrup was runny for our preference. My breakfast, the mince scramble with ham and potatoes was well proportional, and cooked to perfection, not runny eggs or cooked too long. The shredded hash browns were crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. My rye toast looked homemade with thick slices and numerous choices for jam. I chose Marion Berry of course and was treated to additional jam upon request. As one looks over the breakfast selection menu, the egg options are limited. But the waffles, pancakes, and dessert selections are extensive. As this is a bakery restaurant, the breakfast bread selections are also abundant like the following, coffee cake, muffin (varieties), and every toast option including rye and sourdough. The dining experience is pleasant due to the cottage feel on the inside and the decorations including a rock fireplace. One could envision this place at a ski resort. The staff maintained their friendliness during our meal and refilled the coffee quickly. They had staff at times with water or a coffee pot refilling the customer's cups/glasses. I think I counted 6 employees on the floor at once of the 10 I saw rotating through. What a pleasant surprise to find for breakfast, We will be back again. See the photos of the menu.
