Manager has employees pull food from the fryer minutes early to make drive-thru times and you end with gross, under-cooked food. It's a bummer because when the food is fresh and properly prepared, it's great, but the service has taken a steep nosedive in the last few months.

A customer service nightmare from start to finish. We went to the Troy location specifically for…read morethe Simpsons meal promotion, double-checking with the staff before ordering to confirm they actually had the themed cups in stock. They assured us they did. Once we paid, they handed over a tiny, standard meal box, and when we asked about the cups, they casually admitted they were sold out. We wouldn't have cared if they were upfront about it, but lying just to get the sale is unacceptable. The food was even worse. The "chicken sandwich" I ordered turned out to be a completely flavorless burger, and the fries looked suspiciously like they had mold on them. To top it all off, we were hit with extra charges for "themed upgrades" on a meal that had zero Simpsons branding, packaging, or items whatsoever basically paying an extra eight dollars for the privilege of being scammed. If I could give zero stars, I would. Save your money and avoid this location at all costs.

We ordered at 1:02:35. We received our food at 1:19:24, nearly 17 minutes later. Normally, I…read morewouldn't be timing chicken down to the second, but the wait was getting extensive, so I started paying attention. Our table was sticky and covered in crumbs. Our food came out on paper plates because apparently all of the actual serving trays were busy, not on tables occupied by people eating, but stacked up dirty on top of the garbage cans. The food came out one plate at a time, and each time the food runner set a plate down, they were halfway across the restaurant before we could even check whether we had everything we needed. Spoiler alert: we did not. No utensils. The utensil station by the drinks was completely empty, so I went to the counter to ask for some. The young lady working seemed almost annoyed by my fork request. Back at the table, we realized my husband had only received 2 of the 4 sauces he ordered and paid for. At that point, sauces #3 & #4 was simply going to have to become a donation to Slim Chickens because I wasn't making another trip to the counter. After nearly 17 minutes, you would at least expect the food to be piping hot. It was warm at best. Even more concerning, two of my husband's wings were still bloody at the bone. I could understand some of this if the restaurant had been slammed. It wasn't. Apparently we are extremely spoiled by our local Slim Chickens in Olive Branch, MS, because my husband commented more than once that somebody needed to send their manager over here to get this location whipped into shape. I'm not looking for a refund, a coupon, free chicken, or anything else. This store just genuinely needs help. Training, organization, urgency...something. My mom always said, "Use your hands to save your feet." That might need to be printed on the employee shirts here. Bring the plate, sauces, utensils, napkins, whatever the table needs, with you. And maybe grab a few of those trays off the garbage cans on the way back. Because taking almost 17 minutes to serve lukewarm chicken on a paper plate in a mostly empty restaurant is impressive, just not in the way you want it to be.

When pulling up to the cashier's window, I wasn't greeted or even told to wait a minute or anything. The cashier was talking with other employees because she was having trouble with the cash register. She then turned to me to ask for my payment. The employee who served me my food, was very friendly and thanked me for coming. My hash brown was hot and just perfect. This was my first time having the egg and cheese bagel. I ordered it without breakfast sauce because I didn't know what that was. I requested cream cheese and they stated they don't carry that. How do you have a bagel with no cream cheese? So I ordered the spicy picante sauce, but I see now they've added corn syrup to the ingredients and unfortunately, the sandwich was rather tasteless and disappointing.

My order wasn't being made and I sat there 30 minutes while customers were trying to get into the lobby to pick up door dash orders , they locked the doors at 10pm. I ALWAYS LOOK over my order before leaving because this has happened A HANDFUL of times. NEVER tell your customer that the food that's missing in the bag is in there especially when the customer took every item out to make sure it was all in the bag in the store before we left. I was missing two of the four soft tacos I ordered, he stood there at the front counter smiling at me telling me they were in the bag, he asked to Take the order back to the food line to look in the bag, came back and smiled/laughing at me saying " ma'am the other two soft tacos are in there I just looked in the bag". Yeah by that time I was pissed because nothing makes me more mad than somebody lying to my face basically he might as well called me a liar , so I opened the bag and pulled the entire order out to prove to him the other two soft tacos weren't in fact in the bag, I asked so where are they ????? At this point I was very rude because it pissed me off and he standing acting like I'm the problem because I'm mad that he's basically calling me a liar when he lied and took the food order back to the to say he looked and saw the tacos in there. This isn't how customers should be treated . The store looks disgusting food tables in the lobby were dirty along with the floors, the back kitchen is disgusting . I'll NEVER give my service there again after how I was treated . That Taco Bell needs to be shut down nobody knows how to run it , the place is disgusting . I don't know how half of the fast food restaurants in Troy are still open . Why are we paying $15 an hour to these people who don't want to work anyway. Nobody can keep the fast restaurants clean or the bathrooms clean. It's really disturbing when you see them eating while prepping customers food also and not washing their hands . A lot of these workers need to be retrained in customer service especially if they're left in charge .

"Express" in a restaurant name normally means a trimmed down menu. That's not the case here. I overheard the owner tell another party he originally intended this spot to be fast food, but after the sign was ordered he decided to go full service. That's why there's a full Mexican menu. Pricing is $12-$15 for most entrees; fajitas are $16-$20. The lunch section of the menu is mostly egg dishes. A "you pick two" section has two entree items plundered beans and rice for $12-a good value. However, after scanning the menu a little longer I found the real value if you're not overly hungry: your choice of an entree item with beans and rice for $9. I opted for that--with a chicken taco--and it was filling. (I'd already feasted on complemented chips and salsa.) The chicken in the abundant soft taco wasn't overly cooked, nor were the beans and rice. Basically, for the price of fast food I had a filling meal of freshly made food and table service (with a visit from the owner to confirm all was satisfactory). Definitely worth a return visit.
