Not a rock, like most. And the fried apples are still winners, along with the Mac and cheese. Excellent road fare. The stores continue to address service--my server was charming and efficient--and to add items, like old school candies, that actually catch your eye. It's a comfortable place and I have appreciated not being rushed as a solo traveler. No, the Barrel is not a country store--there are so few of those--but as a roadside tradition that gives you time to reset and recharge, it's worth a visit, or two.
