I finally made it to Jumpin' Jacks the other day. It's a mid-century outdoor diner, which is a local institution. I felt as though I traveled back in time to the 1950s or stepped into a scene from that old tv show, "Happy Days." The place looks awesome. I ordered a Jack Burger which consists of double hamburger patties covered in cheese and coleslaw on a bun. While the patties look flat they are tasty and very filling. I also had some fries, which were very good. I was stuffed. The 2 Jack Burgers--one for a friend-- fries and two fountain drinks ran me $26. Not bad. I was there for an early dinner at about 4:30pm. I've been warned that the lines can get very long. My friends suggested in order to avoid crowds I'm best off showing up at off hours. It was a fun experience. I finally get it. This a bit of Americana and those burgers taste good, too.

My wife ordered fried fish planks, while I opted for a cheeseburger with barbecue. For her, onion rings followed, and I chose french fries. Post-meal, we indulged in their exceptional ice cream, a highlight of the experience. This establishment is a cornerstone near New York, offering a quintessential dining experience. **HISTORY & CONTEXT:** Jumpin' Jack's Drive-In boasts a storied past, serving as a beloved staple in the New York area since its inception. The drive-in's enduring popularity is a testament to its commitment to quality and community engagement. Known for its iconic menu and vibrant atmosphere, it attracts visitors year-round, providing a nostalgic escape into American diner culture. After reading this food critics article -- "I Asked 6 Chefs…read morefor the Best Fast Food Fried Chicken, and This Classic Won by a Landslide" By Karla Walsh Allrecipes I headed to the closest Popeyes to pick up lunch for my 20 year old grandson and me. The article is based on critiquing nationally available fast food fried chicken. Six experts selected a winner, and it was Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen by a landslide. Here is their justification: "When it comes to fast food fried chicken, no one does it better than Popeyes. They've really nailed the salty, peppery, crispy coating, adored by this Southerner. Plus, Popeyes chicken is always juicy and tender, even the breast pieces, which are often dry at fast food places. The moistness they are talking about is likely due to the 12-hour marinade the brand boasts about on its website." Another Excerpt -- "Popeyes' crust really knocks it out of the park. It has the crispiest breading that's never soggy, greasy, or underseasoned." No wonder Popeyes came out on top during our team's taste test, too." At the drive thru, we picked up our order of Crispy Chicken with Louisiana Seasoning and Wings. Shortly after, we concluded that the fried chicken was even better than KFC and way better than Chick Fil A. We agreed with the experts who wrote the article. In addition, the bone in and boneless Wings from Popeyes were also excellent. And the Sauces! The Mardis Gras and the Sweet Heat dipping sauces were outstanding.

My daughter, two teen grandchildren, and I placed a takeout order for us and my husband. Fast service! Ordered -- Five "All the Way" Hot Dogs - Meat sauce was classic old school diner sauce done to perfection; after all, they have been open in this location since 1947. Raw onions were sweet and complemented the sauce and spicy mustard very well. I do not eat regular dogs often because I avoid nitrates, but when I do I like them with meat sauce. These hot dogs were worth the indulgence. Highly recommend. Onion Rings were very crispy and not greasy. Cheeseburger was very good. French Fries were hand cut but a little soggy since we did not eat on premises. We enjoyed our lunch very much! Pleased to see they use cardboard containers instead of PLASTIC for takeout orders. Low and reasonable prices!

I had a hot dog all the way ( should've added sauerkraut and relish) a clam fry with onion rings, a cheeseburger, foot long and a large fry. Cant wait to return.

Quick but satisfying lunch with my daughter on a busy Saturday. In my opinion, the food I…read moretypically order here is better when "eating in" compared to takeout. Takeout has never been 5 stars. Today the food and value were five stars, which is a high rating for a chain restaurant from me. This Grenville location is spacious, and we selected a nice booth near the back. Our order: We both had the same "You Pick Two" --Chipotle Chicken Avo Melt Smoked, pulled chicken raised without antibiotics, smoked Gouda, fresh avocado and cilantro, zesty sweet Peppadew-peppers, and chipotle sauce. And --Apple Fuji Salad with Chicken I always get this salad, but it was my first time ordering the Avo Melt. It was excellent! The freshly sliced avocado slices (several) complimented the pulled chicken pieces and the mildly spicy chipotle sauce. As always the freshly made roll was toasted perfectly. Every bite was perfect, and we finished our half sandwiches. Fuji Apple Salad with Chicken is my favorite. --Mixed greens, crisp romaine and lettuce blend tossed in a sweet white balsamic vinaigrette, topped with grilled chicken, grape tomatoes, red onions, toasted pecan pieces, feta, and apple chips. The dressing is pleasing to my palate. The bits of nuts and apple chips add nice crunch. This dressing is available for sale in markets and Target along with a couple other Panera dressings. They are chemical free. BUT the salads I make at home never taste as good as here. Love Panera's menu which allows you to pick two half size items! Perfect size portions are a plus. Also like the quality of ingredients used at Panera, especially the chemical free chicken. Food --5 Cleanliness --5 Service --5 Beverage selection both hot and cold --5

But also... facts are facts and the facts are DELICIOUS. It was a full-on snowstorm, the weird dead zone after Christmas where everyone else is like "nah, we're closing early," and Perrecca's was like: "We ride." Just me and the wife, snow coming down sideways, and this place is warm, welcoming, and absolutely cranking out hot food. And I mean HOT hot -- not "restaurant hot," but "careful-that-plate-is-trying-to-burn-your fingerprints-off" hot. Love to see it. Food? Super tasty. No notes. Service? Solid across the board. Bathrooms? Clean enough to eat off of (I didn't, but I could've). Parking? Plenty of off-street, no parallel parking Olympics required. Now let's talk about the hostess -- because WOW. She works the room like she personally built the place brick by brick. Touches every table, warm, friendly, checking in -- you'd swear her name was on the sign out front. Absolute pro. Hospitality Hall of Fame behavior. Between the legendary bakery, the attached restaurant, and the fact that they stayed open when the weather said "stay home," this place is a must-see Schenectady institution. Come hungry. Leave happy. Possibly leave with extra bread you didn't plan on buying but somehow needed. Would go back in a blizzard. Would go back tomorrow. Would go back just for the vibes.
