During the…read morewarmer months, we might take a to-go order and eat it on the 'town green' nearby for a picnic lunch. I love these older New England town greens. It seems like the drive thru line is always veerrrryyy long. I just walk inside. Why idle my engine for twenty minutes (or whatever) to pick up a meal. Inside I'm usually first or second in line and have my food in minutes. The entrance situation on this building is odd. You really can not see it. Located on the side of the building, facing the main road, you have to cross through the drive-thru line of cars (or park on the left side of the building), follow the sidewalk toward the drive-thru, bear left and then look to your left to see the door. We placed a rather large (seven people) on-line order over the summer and they did manage to forget an item, so I get how that process needs to improve at this location. We also got an item that was not 'ours' in that order. Perhaps a case of 'wrong bag' in a busy kitchen? Whatever, the person without a burger was unimpressed as was the person who paid for the sandwich. Figuring out how to stop this madness definitely needs to happen. When we order inside for just a person or two, they do 'get it right'. There are napkins, straws and a couple other items located in an area just past the cashier. Whether you are dining-in, or taking-out, you need to grab your own items from this area. The staff are pleasant even if not the most interactive. Last visit I had their fish value meal. I must say, this fish is good. The outside is surprisingly crispy, you can really taste the cheese on there, nice bun and it was well constructed (as in, everything lined up, my cheese wasn't half off the patty for example). I will definitely get this fish sandwich any day ahead of some other fast food option. Way better texture and taste. I like Wendy's and am glad I have this option. On days I need to 'chew and screw' this is my preferred option.

Epic double burger and fries - a true classic!…read more Had the double burger with fries and it was absolutely epic! The patties were thick, juicy, and packed with flavor - exactly what you'd hope for from a historic Connecticut drive-in like Harry's Place. The fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned, making the whole meal a standout. This place has been around for over 100 years for a reason. Great portions, no-frills deliciousness, and that old-school vibe. If you're craving a solid burger and fries (or their famous clams/hot dogs), this is the spot. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area! Highly recommend - 10/10 on the burger front.

I still think Harry's place is overrated…read more First of all, it's cash only, but don't forget there's atm right there at the counter, $2.50 per transaction The milkshakes were nine dollars a pop, and my friend and I each had a hotdog at 3.99 each The milkshakes were average of best typical of any place you get a chocolate milkshake The hotdog were small, toasted on a New England roll, which was buttery and pretty good They put the mustard and relish under the hotdog. This is kind of weird. I don't think this is a New England thing or a Connecticut thing. Had I known there was mustard and relish at a condiment counter around the corner, I would've just got a plain dog. The place gets busy for lunch and there's only one order taker. So the line can get out of that testy, especially if you're in a hurry. I know many say this is an institution and I shouldn't be speaking negatively about it, but it is what it is it's overrated. Yes it's been around for a long time, but it's super expensive for a hot dog and milkshake. I see no value here. I should've went up and around the corner to that bar that serves those really great lobster rolls. Colchester is a beautiful town, with many wonderful choices for a place to eat. I don't think this is one of them.

Cane's founder Todd Graves was a guest and his description of how he started the business and about his product was very impressive. One was built near where I live about a year and a half ago, but I never seemed to be hungry when I was driving by. Well today I was ready to eat, so I pulled in on the way home from an appointment in Boston. I should have done this a year ago! The chicken tenders were moist, tender, and had been cooked in an incredibly delicious well seasoned batter. That in itself would have satisfied me but I'd also ordered the Cane's dipping sauce. That turned my meal into a masterpiece! It blended so well with the seasoning of the chicken and batter. The two young women who served me at the counter were perfect examples of what customer service is supposed to be. They were friendly, efficient, knowledgeable about their products, and patiently helpful while I was trying to decide which of the two sauces I wanted. Thank you both! The dining and ordering areas were spotlessly clean and well lit. It would be the perfect place for a family to come and have a healthy meal as a treat on a weekend afternoon. I wish that Raising Cane's had been around when I was little. :-) One word of warning however, Raising Cane's only entree is chicken fingers so if you don't like chicken this might not be for you. That does however emphasize how good those chicken fingers are if they don't have to offer any other meal. :-)

We stopped here after a trip to the mall, and just grabbed some chicken through the drive thru. It was just as fresh and hot as inside and their staff knows how to serve it up either way! The staff is helpful and really listens to what you are asking on your way to an amazing sandwich or great cut of meat. I have not really paid attention to see if there is somewhere to sit eat there. My first experience we ate on the hood of our car. I have had several sandwiches, from breakfast(amazing) to several of the hot grinders, and the cold ones. I have never been disappointed. The grinder's are so delicious and awesome. We have shopped for meat here also. Their butchers are knowledgeable and will cut the meat you ask for. Lots of stuff to buy to go with your meal! Looked around for about 15 minutes. When I was up at register I found out they were not taking card right now, which was confusing because there was no signage, no people working there telling you that the most common way of paying nowadays isn't gonna work. So I had to go put everything back and wasted 30+ minutes of my time going there. Normally I would recommend going here. They have some good stuff for parties or for snacking and lots of meat choices, but their service today was very lack luster, and it definitely put a damper on my plans. Working in retail I would just say do better. I was planning on spending over 50 dollars there just to be turned away because nobody wanted to tell the customers what's going on in the store. A lady behind me also was going to have to leave because of the lack of information given. Some people don't have a lot of time to do things, and now they might not even be able to go buy food at all. Very disappointed.
