Food is always fresh for us & ready on time. A quick pick close to home and like the chip options throughout the store.

Nick's of Calvert - Zombie Flesh

Nick's of Calvert

My husband grew up coming to Nick's. We recently joined his sister there. Nostalgic with the…read morebutcher counter especially. Got some great breakfast sausage and a few sausage links. They were wonderful. As for me, I spent my time stocking up on some wine and beer I had not seen before, coming from vineyards I have not bought from. Nick's is located near other stores. Nice area. Stop by.

I was disappointed in Nicks today, last week I picked up a ham steak the use by date on the package…read moresaid March 8, 2023. Last night I was going to fix it for dinner when I opened it the ham has a very thick slimy and gooey. It had a nicked sticker on it so I thought they would take it back without a receipt, it was under $7. So I went in and spoke with the manager told him about it first thing he asked for is a receipt, no I don't but it has your pricing sticker you can see I purchased it here. He wouldn't even look at it just wanted a receipt, said he could look it up if I used a charge card. I shop here a few times a week, I hardly ever purchase meat ahead of time to use later except for bacon I get 5lbs at a time and meat like the packaged ham steaks or whole yams that have a longer use by date for planned ahead meals , I stop in pickup what ever meat I'm fixing for dinner that night. This is the second time since this store has opened up that a meat I purchased from here had an issue with it and this was the first time I was asked for a receipt. I've been shopping at a Nicks since I was a kid my grandmother use to take me to the one in Clinton once a week, then when I started working I would stop in Nicks of Clinton to get a sub for lunch. It was really nice when the one opened in St-Charles off of Rt 5 and Mattawoman-Beantown Rd. I started purchasing meat for my own family and then this one opened in Calvert made it even more convenient to shop at. I guess I'll have to learn to take a picture of my receipt from here in case this happens again or I can just continue to be a loyal shopper here and just take the loss and move on. I'm not going to stop shopping here since this is only the 2nd time getting a bad product for as long as I've been a shopping at a Nick's.

Fredy's Brickwood Pizza - Large Cheese Pizza

Fredy's has a wonderful pepperoni sphere that detaches to reveal itself as hidden triangle food. I…read moreconsumed these delightful cheese pyramids today and the lab technician told me it was of the pepperoni kind, which is the one with red meat frisbees, also known as crimson mouth discus. Well, I call it meat frisbees because I'm all about class. The pizza was a rotund sphere of hot cheese, like the ones fabled to have originated in ancient Atlantis. The cheese was hot and elastic, like silly putty after it's been in your pocket for many days. I call it dairy pudding, and it stuck to the tasty meat disks as if they were conjoined twins. Under that was a hot red sauce lake, made from tomatoes and sorcery, probably. The meat spheres were spicy little meat frisbees, but smaller and edible and they tasted like paradise. Some of them curled up at the sides like they were trying to become tiny meat bowls. I ate them before they could finish. No meat bowls in my hood. The crust was the part you hold, also known as the pizza bone, and it was crunchy on the edge like a toasted bread fence, and chewy in the middle like a bagel that was also an old man telling you to get out of his yard. I dipped it in ranch dressing because my tarot card reader says that's what my Venusian ancestors once did. Every bite was like a dance party in my face hosted by the mayor of Cheese Town. Oh, and even though Freddy's didn't have a giant pizza slingshot to launch the pizza into my open mouth, it was still pretty comfy in there. Real nice folks too. Not one of them made fun of my reverse-Mohawk or challenged me a belly-buster contest. Yes! I can finally be comfortable while eating my pizza bone leftovers! A+++

Pizza was delicious. Based on other reviews since I ordered via door dash I made sure to update my…read moredriver to allow pizza to cool before pulling off which would avoid the cheese sliding all over the pizza.
