While getting off the interstate and heading in to town, I noticed this eerie presence, nothing was open, signs were dark, stop lights not working... I got to River House and a few regulars were still milling around the bar, I was told they were closed due to a power outage throughout the entire city. After some conversation, they said if I had cash, I could still buy a beer (always carry cash!). The regulars moved on, and I was finishing my drink when the power comes back on! The owner Mike had already sent most of his staff home, as the estimated power restoration was well beyond their normal operating hours, but he said he would turn the fryers back on, and start the pizza oven since I was there. I told him he didn't have to and I would head back to East Lansing, but he insisted, at this point I was the only one in the place! Ordered a pizza, and boy was it delish! By the time my pizza had arrived, a few others had managed to come in and fill up the place! Thanks to Mike, Jen (bartender) and the staff who stayed! I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu, and see the renovations next time I'm in the area! Cheers!

The fries were crisp right out of the fryer, the staff were very nice and fast inside at least, not sure about drive thru, one of the workers got me my shake right away. Before walking into Wendy's, a man with a big truck shook his head at me because I was standing in the middle of the road on accident. We walked into this Wendy's, and I was anxious but hopeful. I walked in, and to my suprise, a bulbous man named Adam was at the counter. Amazingly, despite his towering presence, he was a gentle, kind man. Adam greeted us, asked us how we were doing, asked us where we were headed, and when we replied, he said he had been there himself. Adam was not only a kind man, he was also efficient at taking our orders. He rapid fired through the four of us like a western man in a saloon. After departing from Adam, we couldn't help but smile as we walked to our table, relaxed and ready to eat. We sat down, and got ready. With beautiful divine timing, our food seemed to magically appear from the kitchen. We went to receive it, and were once again met with Adam's innocent and childlike smile, despite being an older man. We sat down to eat our food, which tasted great, but not anything too special. However, this "not-too-specialness" was masked by our outstanding gratitude and appreciation for Adam, the cashier. We had a conversation with the man who almost ran me over (which wouldn't have been his fault, really) while we were eating, but shockingly, he and his three old man buddies were very nice company. I just wanted to leave this review to thank Adam, and the service he did to us in fueling our road trip. Adam will forever be in our hearts, and I hope the world never takes his innocent smile away from him.
