It used to be owned by a really nice man who often spent a lot of time visiting & talking to the customers. He did a lot with the local school district's sports team, too. Sadly, he passed away, but his son now owns this place & is just as nice. My ASL isn't what it used to be, so we often talk to each other by writing down what we want to say (he's deaf). He never fails to smile and wave when he sees us. We missed going here during the pandemic when everything was closed. I'm so happy this place managed to survive the lockdown. I got the daily special, which is a half sub, fries, and a soft drink. I got the cheeseburger sub because I don't know of any other sub place that offers cheeseburgers subs (something I loved in my younger days in Maryland). But his cheesesteak sub is really good, too. Sometimes it's downright painful trying to make up my mind what to order. Kiddos got grilled cheese kids meals, which is actually on a hamburger bun, not wimpy bread. It holds up better & one got the dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets kids meal. By the time I realized I'd forgotten to snap a pic of them, they'd already devoured them. The prices are reasonable, the people are friendly, and the food is good. It's one of our favorite places, even if we have to drive out of our way to go there.

The Rivera and Toyota are two of their core cheesesteak options (not specials), each with different toppings, and both were excellent. The bread-to-meat ratio is dialed in perfectly--soft roll, generous meat, and nothing overwhelms anything else. Every bite holds together, which is harder to find than it should be. I also tried the lug nuts (fried mushrooms) and fries. The lug nuts weren't my personal favorite, but the fries were solid. What really locked in the 5 stars was the service--friendly, attentive, and genuinely checking in without hovering. Skip the overthinking and order a cheesesteak. Carhops sticks to its strengths, and it shows. Bring CASH- only acceptable form on payment.

I have ordered in person and online (through the app) and every visit my order was correct, I was charged correctly and the items were packaged neatly. One down side to this location is that the parking lot for the plaza it is in is terrible. It can be really hard to find a spot close to the location because there are so many other busy businesses right nearby. All of their ingredients seem fresh and have tasted great. You can see them freshly making everything to order (and making fresh things like tuna or chicken salad) as well. They are on the pricey side, but not much more than you would pay for something that is fried and not as high quality at a fast food restaurant. The inside has a small seating area and is well lit and maintained. I've often seen staff cleaning the tables and removing garbage. Overall, a nice location, just a bit of a challenge for parking.
