It's got some 49ers vibes going on, so you've been warned (or welcomed, depending on your team colors). This is an old-school bar - started in the late 1800s - but it's packed with life. Lots of colorful, interesting locals, and just an all-around great group of people to share a drink with. Didn't try the food, so no comment there - but the atmosphere alone was worth the stop. We stopped in Sutherlin, OR, for gas on our way to Portland . We had intended to go to McDonald's…read more But, across the parking lot from McDonald's, we saw this little place. From the outside it doesn't look like much but we were surprised that when we went in to check it out, we found that they actually have a small dining room with tables and chairs. There is a counter where you enter your order and sandwiches pay for your food. The menu is surprisingly extensive. They have both hot and cold sandwiches along with some hot entrées . I had a cold pastrami sandwich and it was very good. I liked it better than most supermarket sandwich counters and better than Subway sandwiches. My wife had a cup of Vegetable Barley Soup and Onion Rings. All in all, it was pretty good. It was far better than we expected. This is a good lesson where we should not judge a book by its cover.
