Located in a small plaza with 7-11 and a few other small stores, we were greeted right away upon entering. There were a few customers but it was not packed which meant we got a booth, yay. The waiter informed us of the specials, most of which I hesitate to order at a diner: paella, octopus, steak, etc. The menu is plentiful with the usual items as well as more Spanish dishes like empanadas, Spanish breakfast, etc. The Italian vegetable panini with salad was not bad but it was odd that the salad had the same ingredients as the panini (sans portobellos), leaving the while dish feeling one note. The burger was the typical diner burger. Overall pricing was okay, given rising costs, though some of the entrees were $25-30+, which i wouldn't do. I wonder what the Spanish dishes would have tasted like because perhaps those are their stars. Service was attentive, though it felt like they were trying to make this more into an elevated experience vs. what it was. I did like the bathrooms a little better than other diners, and I felt pretty comfortable in the little restaurant space.

Got a triple-decker chicken cutlet sandwich, which was pretty good. Sister got a chicken and eggplant thing on a pita. Also OK. The portions were generous. The waffle and regular fries were standard diner fries, which is a good thing. Now for the chili. It is straight up marinara bolognese. I guarantee this is the exact same stuff they serve on spaghetti. They just throw some cheddar on it and serve it next to some chips. Pretty bad. Other than that, not bad. Again, should have gotten the omelet

We felt the hot dogs were rubbery in texture, and they tasted like they were reheated. The matzoh ball soup was bland. My mother enjoyed her pastrami sandwich. As far as atmosphere goes, the first table we sat at was wobbly. and when we transfered to the other, we found the table and season shakers to be sticky. The greatest disappointment was not the mediocre food, or the sticky table but what we witnessed. An elderly couple was sitting at the other table. The gentleman asked a server, possibly the owner or manager, for a glass of tap water. The response from the server was, "We don't have glasses of water here, but you can buy a bottle and I'll bring your two cups." We found this to be uncourteous and unwelcoming, and we felt a little embarassed for the nice couple. It seems that when a nice couple comes in to patronize your restaurant, and purchase a lunch, a little water would not be an unreasonable request. Any restaurant that treats elderly people this way will not receive my future business.

We went to Ella's Saturday night. I'd rate it as mediocre. We had a table in the middle of the…read morerestaurant, close to other tables on the sides, so we couldn't move our chairs. I had to glance directly at the setting sun. The manager came and said "the sun will set soon", but it didn't. Thankfully my husband moved his chair to the side and blocked the sun for me. We'd rather have waited for another table had we known of the sun. Our waitress never read us the specials, which we later heard at nearby tables. Our water had no lemon in it, while everyone around us had lemon. We enjoyed our appetizer of Zucchini chips, and the Tzadiki was fantastic. The dinner rolls were also nice. My husband ordered Fettuccine Alfredo, which he liked, but the portion was small, & he had no problem finishing all of it. I ordered Chicken Milanese. The Milanese wasn't crisp enough, so when they piled salad on top with Balsamic Vinaigrette, it got a little soggy, even though I immediately took the salad off. My chicken cutlet had a large cut halfway across it. Possibly it was cut to see if it was done, but don't they have a meat thermometer? Maybe they figured that with a salad on top, the large cut wouldn't be seen? I noticed it though. Worst for me though was the vegetable side dish. Instead of a healthy vegetable, I was given a mushy, over-cooked Cauliflower covered in Buffalo Hot Sauce and butter. I'm guessing that they had made Buffalo Cauliflower for an appetizer another day, and had some leftover, so they decided to use it as a vegetable side? Hey, if I wanted leftovers, I'd have eaten at home. The waitress who never read us the specials also never came by to ask if everything was okay. I'd like it if someone at Ella's realizes that good customers can recognize when things are not up to the usual high standards. We notice when leftovers are served as side dishes. We notice when entrees are cut into. We don't enjoy being given tables with sun glare. We used to enjoy Ella's, and we hope that this was just an off day.

Soup was ok with a little too thin for me. Calamari was not the freshest, but the salad and pizza were good. Salad had mushrooms and mozzarella and tomatoes with let and a balsamic drizzle. The NY plzza had a crisp but thin crust, and the sauce was nicely done. I would have liked it a little bit thicker bit it was good.
