A 100% sanitation rating is something to brag about, too! We have visited several times for lunch on our trips from Monroe to Marshville. All the food we have tasted was cooked perfectly, seasoned properly, and plated wonderfully. While it's tough to choose a favorite, the Cubano tugs continually at my heart begging for more. And its huge, too! I took home a half sandwich and weighed it: 9 ounces! That's a lunker. In town and looking to satisfy your appetite? Look no further than Ms Allie's Cafe. The food was delicious and exactly how we ordered it. We ordered The Hen House, The Travis (with chicken instead of ham) and The Southern Boy Wrap. The chicken was very tender! We also ordered a side of scrambled eggs and three orders of crispy hash browns. All perfectly cooked. Coffee: We ordered iced vanilla latte, iced mocha latte and an Americano.

Let's start with there was no line today! I anticipated a…read moreline as they're open on Saturdays and being that it was a holiday, I knew people would be out there. However there wasn't so we were able to walk right on in. There were some folks inside as well, and tables for us to sit. It's similar to most BBQ places where you order your meats by the pound. We had brisket, ribs and pulled pork. The ribs were so tender they fell off the bone. Literally just pulled the bone out. The flavors were outstanding. There was bbq sauce but truly wasn't needed, more just to enhance the flavors. The brisket was moist and tender. Seasoned to perfection. It as well needed nothing more. The pork was really good. Tender and juicy. We had a few sides but the most amazing one was the watermelon salad. With the mint, lime, cojita cheese, cucumbers, and red onions it was mind blowing. The way everything in the salad blended so well together was perfection. The Mac and cheese were just as top tier. The way the cheese pulled, the kick it had you could tell this was recipe that has been used for years. There was a bite to it and it was perfect. We also had the Mexican street corn that burst with so many flavors. And lastly we tried the hash brown casserole. It was definitely different but equally as delicious. The service was quick. The ladies that assisted us with our sides were the most friendliest. They encouraged us on the selection of sides, and shared their favorites with us. Overall one of the best BBQ I've had, definitely the best BBQ in NC.

We arrived at 9:45 on a chilly, drizzly day and there were probably 50 people in line ahead of us. There was a friendly staff member monitoring and organizing the line and she told us we were there on a 'slow' day because of the weather. After the restaurant opened at 11, we waited in line for probably another 45 minutes until we got inside to order. The brisket was great, but the best things we had were the kolaches (stuffed breakfast rolls available before they open), Cheerwine hot link sausage, and fruit crisp. The Cheerwine sausage was the biggest surprise. It had a great flavor and wasn't sweet - I've never had anything like it before. When we get a chance to go back, we'll probably skip the pulled pork and mac & cheese. They were fine but there's a lot to try and these weren't anything special.

Now I am not anti-AI but I would say that giving our order to an AI assistant was a little strange because it didn't respond in the way that I presumed it would. I wanted to see a full list of all the items that we ordered, but it did not give us that. It asked us questions that weren't relevant to the order that I put in so I was nervous at first. However, when we got our order, everything seemed to be OK and exactly what we ordered! Overall, the food was pretty good. I just felt like there was too much Bojangles seasoning on the fries. The bo chicken sandwich was very good! I've been getting tired of the same old flavors of every Mexican restaurant in the area so when I saw that they had a Mexican salad that wasn't the same as everybody else, I had to give it a try. The vegetables were fresh and the shrimp was well prepared. I should also mention that their salsa is flavorful but be mindful of the fact that their hot salsa is hot. I found myself making a mix of the two kinds in order to get the level of spicy that I was looking for. Our server was spectacular, and he made many suggestions that we were glad we ended up going west. My partner had the enchilada combo and he enjoyed all of them. I will definitely be returning and would suggest that anybody who likes good Mexican food make the drive to wingate and try this place!
