Arby's - Beef and cheddar with curly fries

Arby's

If you ever feel too calm... too emotionally stable... too at peace... just take a little trip…read morethrough the Arby's drive-thru in Mansfield, Pennsylvania. It will shatter you in ways you didn't know a fast-food speaker box could. Pulling up to that intercom feels like approaching the Gates of Confusion. You say "Hello," and what comes back is a sound that can only be described as a raccoon gargling gravel. You repeat yourself. The universe laughs. You try again. The speaker hisses like an angry snake. At some point you question whether you're ordering food or communicating with ghosts. Every attempt becomes a high-stakes drama: "Can I get a beef 'n cheddar?" Speaker: SKRRRHHHHHHH-- bffftt-- WHAT SIZE OF POTATO DOG? I'm sorry... what? It's so bad it's practically a Greek tragedy. A chorus should come out behind you and sing about your downfall. I half expect storm clouds to roll in and dramatic lightning to strike behind the building as I yell "NO -- CURLY FRIES! CURLY!!" And then we reach the ultimate game of Would You Rather -- the Mansfield edition: * Would you rather stand barefoot on LEGOs the size of toaster ovens or try to get this drive-thru to understand the word "large"? * Would you rather read the entire Terms & Conditions of iTunes out loud or attempt to change your drink after they've already misheard it three times? * Would you rather wrestle a raccoon in an alley for a half-eaten granola bar or go through the Mansfield Arby's drive-thru again? Listen... I've made mistakes in my life. Big ones. But choosing to enter this drive-thru sits at the top. I didn't just lose my order -- I lost my identity, my sanity, and possibly three years off my lifespan. At the end of the day, Mansfield Arby's serves food. But getting it through the drive-thru feels like a myth, a legend, a heroic tale you tell your grandchildren: "That's right, kids... I once survived the Arby's intercom." If you value your mental health, your time, or the sound of your own voice... just park the car and walk in. Or better yet, go literally anywhere else.

It sucked. Derive also sucked head it also had a huge lack of buffalo sauce on the chicken sandwichread more

The atmosphere is relaxed and…read morewelcoming, with exposed brick and ro artwork that gives the place an artsy, modern feel while still honoring its historic setting. Definitely a spot where you could linger for a while. Food-wise, we ordered the fried rice with crispy chicken (breaded in crushed Cheerios--yes, Cheerios, and yes, surprisingly delicious!), the bánh mì, and the crispy chicken sandwich, which ended up being the star of the show. Every bite of that sandwich was perfectly seasoned, crunchy, and satisfying. We upgraded our side to the greens, which came topped with some mysterious orange ingredient--maybe a grated carrot dressing? Whatever it was, it was scrumptious. We also ordered a side of pickles, which were surprisingly affordable and so flavorful that they disappeared fast. We didn't try any drinks, but the menu had plenty of interesting options to choose from. One of my favorite parts of the experience was how family-friendly the place felt: while we waited, the kids grabbed a new-to-us game (The Enchanted Forest) from the board game shelves, which made the time fly by. Service was attentive and friendly without hovering, and overall we had a fantastic experience. If we lived closer, this would be a regular lunch spot for sure!

We arrived for an early dinner with a 4 year old and 1 year old. Like many folks with small kids, I…read morewas a bit put off by the name but with the great reviews, we decided to try it. The ambiance is dim and quiet, but they were happy to have us. My 4 year old used colored pencils on coloring sheets we brought with us. For babies and small kids, they have ingelisa chairs that clip on the high tables and I was concerned about the high chairs for our 4 year old but it was fine. She devoured her entire meal(chicken tenders) and a half of our 1 year olds' (they have a kids menu with chicken tenders, grilled peanut butter and fluff, noodles with butter, hot dog..). The service was fast and great. While I am vegetarian and my spouse is gluten free, we are always pleasantly surprised when we both find delicious food. I loved the general tso's poboy with cauliflower and tofu. I wish there was more cauliflower since my 1 year old took many of those pieces. My spouse got something with "pulled pork and quinoa" and he said it was very good too.

A small town novelty is this family farm- fueled restaurant. Only a 20 minute drive from my…read morehometown, the drive was well worth it to check out something new. I stumbled across The Farmer's Table last night on yelp, and perused through the breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. I was intrigued! So tonight, I took a trip to Blossburg, and was impressed by the restaurant's cleanliness, the friendly staff, and the atmosphere that I would describe as modern farm- chic. The food- fresh and delicious! There were several options on the menu....it was difficult to decide! I went with the almond, cranberry, grilled chicken salad with a balsamic vinaigrette- the dish that initially caught my eye. My guest ordered a ribeye steak and was impressed by its taste and overall quality! If you are passing through Blossburg, or simply wish to support a small business, please stop by The Farmer's Table and give it a taste!

This is not going to be an easy review to write. I have so many conflicting thoughts and…read morefeelings... reviewing a restaurant should never be this dramatic! Seriously though... speaking as someone who was a partner in two restaurants in NYC for 4 years, who does not claim to "know it all" but knows some tricks of the trade... I think they've got great potential and would like to share my thoughts with them. Saying they've "got potential" probably come across as smug, obnoxious, and ridiculous, especially because they've got like 4.6 stars here on Yelp! And that's mainly why I found myself here... Staying in Mansfield for the night, I looked up restaurants that were enroute to our hotel. Some of them had 3 or 3.5 stars and I said "no way." But 4.6 stars with as many reviews as The Farmer's Table has? Absolutely! The atmosphere is a little bit diner but cozy enough and has the farm as a theme. There are some cool design elements, like the steel ceiling, the tables... The bathroom was clean and well stocked, and that's a really good sign that the place is sanitary and organized. The waitress was really, really nice... and we loved that we were in this tiny little town and yet she had this really cool, funky image. Great fingernails! I'm jealous! A tip for her to make service even better... think about sequence of service. Think about the extras that the customer will want with the specific thing they ordered so that they won't have to bother you. If they order something with fries, definitely put ketchup on their table, and do it before the food is delivered. There were also a lot of empty tables with salt shakers, but it's had none. Some customers notice these little things and appreciate a server who anticipates their needs. On the other hand, maybe she was just really slammed busy before we got there. My wife and I waited like 2 minutes for her to take my order and she apologized profusely for having us wait so long for her. I was like, "am I in Manhattan or wut???" She was on point, generally easy to find when we needed her, she was never trying to hide from customers (a huge no-no) and very well-intentioned. Definitely a keeper. The food though... I was surprised we didn't like it very much being the reviews were so good. When I got the check to pay, I asked the server what their most beloved and popular dishes are. She said that ppl order a lot of the prime rib sandwich, and also the cat fish. Incidentally, I had ordered the prime rib sandwich, and my wife had the breaded cat fish. I was expecting a lot more meat on my sandwich, and the bun was just a regular burger bun, but it was ok. It came with 3 slices of pickle and cost $11.90. I was still hungry after that so I finished my wife's catfish 'cuz she gets full easily. I liked the catfish more, but neither of us thought it was anything special. What was special were the prices. The catfish included 2 sides, and it cost less than $14. Being from NYC, it was so refreshing to see pricing that reminded me of year 2000! A burger for $7.85 that's not Burger King? Incredible! But the cole slaw... ewww. I didn't hate it, but I kind of forced myself to eat it even though it had a strange flavor. The sweet potato fries were ok. Everything was basically O.K. I imagine that, if I lived there, I would go pretty regularly cuz it's probably the best thing the neighborhood has in a few square miles, and it's easier and more fun than cooking at home (if you're not a cook and you're busy at work). But I think that some improvement in the food could make the place more of a destination. And a destination could actually bring more business to the surrounding businesses! I can understand if the townspeople want very basic food there, but at least offer a few specials that are fancier, better ingredients, something that stands out and is memorable. I know I'm spoiled coming from NYC... a 4.6 star review in places like Manhattan are different than a 4.6 star review in a small town. But this place has some nice things about it. Take it all the way!
