Note, that the corn bread is delicious, it's moist and flavorful. The chili was tasty, no beans with plenty of meat. Added chopped red onions and jalapeños made it savory. We also had the cheeseburger on cornbread and it was also delicious. Had side salads that were basic, but the broccoli salad, which resembles a Cole slaw was excellent. The pies we had were delicious too, key lime, peanut butter pie, and pecan pie. Those we took home because we were full from our entrees. Prices were a bit high, but the quality of the food and the service provided made the prices reasonable.

We ordered the pork chop over cheese grits with bacon and a mushroom red wine glaze--rich, savory, and melt-in-your-mouth perfection--and the Mardi Gras sandwich (OUR FAVORITE!) with French onion soup, which came bubbling with golden cheese on top and the most flavorful broth. The housemade bread is unbelievable--soft, warm, and served with maple butter that's dangerously addictive. Our meal started with a fresh salad and ended with the sweetest touch: tiny mint chocolate chip cookies that came with the check. Every detail felt thoughtful and homemade. It's a small staff, so don't expect to be in and out quickly, but the service is attentive and personal--absolutely worth the wait. A true local treasure with food that feels like it was made just for you.

They said the picture of the Dr pepper hunger buster directly in front of the customer was incorrect and it always comes on a Texas toast. No I said, they are two different products, hence the two different pictures and names. They finally said well if you request it we can make it that way. That's not how it works, we ordered the Dr pepper hunger buster not the patty melt, it should be made as you order it. If you don't want to sell the hunger buster version take it off the digital sign in front of the customers face. Owner!!! This is for you. You have 2 stars on your restaurant. The restaurant is very simple. There is nothing fancy about the ambience at all. It's just downhome country. You order at the register and then grab a table. We got there just before the after church Sunday rush so we were able to find a table easily. Shortly after we got our food, the line was out the door. The food came very quickly. They call your name and bring the food to the table. I had a two meat platter with turkey and brisket. The turkey was tender and just slightly smoky. The brisket was excellent. I forgot to ask for lean like I usually do but the brisket was not overly fatty. The meat was very smoky, very tender, and very flavorful. The portion was generous for $18. I would guess half a pound of each meat (?) The sauce on the table is a bit sweet and tangy. The BBQ beans were excellent. The potato salad was good but needed salt. We all enjoyed our meal. Even the kid, who is super picky, ate a bunch of brisket. It was a good choice and I definitely would eat here again if we came to Jefferson City.
