We stopped in for some pizza a couple of nights ago and were so unimpressed that we won't rush back…read moreanytime soon. When we arrived there were two booths with customers and a sign that said seat yourself. We found a booth and some menus and waited for a server. We were greeted shortly thereafter and gave a drink order. Water for me and a beer for my husband. Then we ordered some Fried Mushrooms for an appetizer and a large Pepperoni and Mushroom pizza. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. 40 minutes later we were delivered a barely warm pizza and fried mushrooms. My husband asked the girl who brought the pizza for another beer - since he had finished it and we hadn't seen our server again - and she said she would tell our server. Then we started to eat and realized that we didn't have any napkins, plates, or silverware. Nothing. So... after waiting for several minutes... I decided to get up and go get them myself. The bartender came out from the bar and asked what I needed. I told her, she gave them to me and apologized. Then our server overheard and said it was the fault of the runner who brought us our cold dinner - as she grabbed the beer to bring to my husband. The food - not great at all. Maybe it would've been better had it been brought out to us when it was done. It had obviously been sitting in the back for awhile. The cheese had no pull since it was cold, the mushrooms on top were cold. The fried mushrooms were greasy and started to get soggy from sitting. They had good flavor so they may have been better had they been served right away. During our time waiting for our food we watched one man walk up with cash in his hand, looking for the server, so that he could pay and leave. That left us as the only people in the dining room. There were people in the small bar area and that seems to be where all the servers stay. They were not short staffed. We saw several workers in the bar area and in the back kitchen area. They definitely aren't understaffed. Also - heads up - there is a 4% charge for using a credit card. The highest I've seen yet. So, bring cash for your cold pizza.

Today I found a place "where diets come to die a delicious death." It's called Country Crust Bakery…read morein Bainbridge, Ohio, and what a find it was! We were out exploring the area when we stumbled across this charming little bakery run by a group of Amish girls. The moment you walk through the door, your senses go into overdrive. The smell of freshly baked pies, cookies, breads, and pastries fills the air, and I swear I started drooling before I even reached the display case. As I quickly learned, "walking in here with self-control is like bringing a snowball to Florida." It simply doesn't exist! Mine certainly didn't. I ended up leaving with two peach fry pies, a loaf of cheddar jalapeño bread, and a glazed donut. My wife chose one of their giant fresh-baked pretzels with cream cheese. It was served warm and was absolutely delicious. Then I dug into the glazed donut, and wow--light, fluffy, and it practically melted in my mouth. This was our first visit, but there's no doubt we'll be back. In fact, I can easily see us becoming regulars. A quick heads-up: they accept cash or checks, but no credit cards, so plan accordingly. Country Crust also has a cute little café area where they serve pizzas and sandwiches. From what I saw, those sandwiches were absolutely ginormous. I didn't order one this time, but trust me, the brisket on a pretzel bun and the Reuben both have my name written all over them for a future visit. If you're anywhere near Bainbridge and have a sweet tooth--or just appreciate great homemade baked goods--do yourself a favor and make the drive. Your taste buds will thank you, even if your diet won't. "Worth every calorie and every mile driven."

Found this gem on our way to see the Serpent mounds. It's a definite Must stop for yumminess!…read more donuts, breads, cookies, baked goods galore. Prices are low and affordable! Donuts are big and fluffy! Glazed donuts are $10 for a dozen! Wish we tried the pretzels and sandwiches. ***CASH or CHECK ONLY!
