First let me say my best friend and I just found this place on 100% luck. We went for a dive and…read morewas getting hungry and sadly every place we found was either closed or across the river in Kentucky. We literally stopped at a pizza place just around the corner but it looked like either take out or limited seating. I googled yep I didn't use yelp sorry but everything I had found so far was closed. Well this was around the corner and right on the river. We pulled up and I thought it was closed as well, but I did see it was opened. We walked in and was shocked at it being very small town feel, well duh did you look at Ripley it is a small town. We sat down and ordered and I was super shocked at how good the food was and the service was good. Just before with left the waitress mentioned how good their burgers are and that they are hand made Pattie's. I can't wait to come back and try a burger and this is almost 2 hours from my house, but in my option so worth it. Fresh homemade bread, appetizers were house made as well as the dessert. So good and I will be back. The drive and the view was also worth it. Fun drive and great view.

I got a tray with a pulled pork sandwich, cowboy beans, and coleslaw. The pork was very flavorful with just enough smoke for my tastes, and it went well with the barbecue sauce it came with. I was also impressed with the cowboy beans. Typically, I do not care for beans cooked with beef, but these had a good balance between the two. It also had different varieties of beans that I appreciated. It was savory and filled me up. Lastly, the coleslaw was also good but nothing to write home about. My lunch left me satisfied without being stuffed, which is often an issue I have with barbecue. The only complaint I could see with this meal is portion sizes. While it was a comfortable serving size for myself, I could see others finding the amount of meat given too little for their money and stomachs. Even with the sides, I considered this meal to be lighter than most barbecue I have had. After this experience, I cannot wait for a chance to have a meal at the actual restaurant.

We laughed at an adorable cat, that has been hanging around the restaurant. A group of young guys were loving on the cat. It was nice to see. They gently shooed him off the table when their food arrived. Our food arrived and wow! The brisket was moist and tasty. Great fried green tomatoes and the grits were yummy. My mother's ribs were delish. She raved about the slaw and the greens. We intend to support this excellent mom and pop establishment. The folks there know what they are doing, and they do it with a smile and a heart!

Today I found a place "where diets come to die a delicious death." It's called Country Crust Bakery…read morein Bainbridge, Ohio, and what a find it was! We were out exploring the area when we stumbled across this charming little bakery run by a group of Amish girls. The moment you walk through the door, your senses go into overdrive. The smell of freshly baked pies, cookies, breads, and pastries fills the air, and I swear I started drooling before I even reached the display case. As I quickly learned, "walking in here with self-control is like bringing a snowball to Florida." It simply doesn't exist! Mine certainly didn't. I ended up leaving with two peach fry pies, a loaf of cheddar jalapeño bread, and a glazed donut. My wife chose one of their giant fresh-baked pretzels with cream cheese. It was served warm and was absolutely delicious. Then I dug into the glazed donut, and wow--light, fluffy, and it practically melted in my mouth. This was our first visit, but there's no doubt we'll be back. In fact, I can easily see us becoming regulars. A quick heads-up: they accept cash or checks, but no credit cards, so plan accordingly. Country Crust also has a cute little café area where they serve pizzas and sandwiches. From what I saw, those sandwiches were absolutely ginormous. I didn't order one this time, but trust me, the brisket on a pretzel bun and the Reuben both have my name written all over them for a future visit. If you're anywhere near Bainbridge and have a sweet tooth--or just appreciate great homemade baked goods--do yourself a favor and make the drive. Your taste buds will thank you, even if your diet won't. "Worth every calorie and every mile driven."
