We were recommended this spot by a local person, stating it was a great place for good down home cooking. We arrived and were warmly greeted and were allowed to select our own table. The menu was nice and diverse, something for everyone. Two of use got the Thursday special, meatloaf and the other two, fried chicken. The meatloaf was spot on good. I ordered mashed potatoes/gravy, and cabbage/green as sides. The potatoes were good but the gravy could have been seasoned a bit more, but still good. The cabbage and greens were very tasty with a good smokiness from bacon. A little bit of acidity would have put this over the top, and again, still very good. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly with a nice coating, not greasy at all. The staff were great and the restaurant itself was simple but nice and clean. Prices were fair. our group of 5 were riding and enjoying adult summer and came through Ripley in September 2025. we stopped at Dinner Bell just by chance. What a great choice this was! we all had something different and it was all amazing, a ton of food. The staff were fun, helpful, and professional. You MUST try the Cajun Candy Corn--SO GOOD!!!! Seems staff just wanted to run back out side To smoke in stead of making an edible dish left comment on Facebook page And a review. Now blocked and posts taken down. Guess the truth hurts. Went again for the second time. I ordered the country fried steak, mashed potatoes w/ gravy and French fries. We also got a basket of onion rings and pickle chips for appetizers. First, I cannot emphasize how much I love the name of this place! The Dinner Bell has such an amazing vibe to it. The name itself is a whole vibe!!! I hope someday that the atmosphere will match that vibe. I think they are all doing a great job and I wish all of them well and I hope this really picks up and they can move to a better building. The building that they're in looks beat down, run down, and dirty. NOT saying that this place is dirty, but it appears pretty dingy. On that same note, I know everyone has to start out and work their way up and they are doing an amazing job at that. I would love to see this place in a fancy black and white historic looking building that will match the vibe of the beautiful name. The onion rings are the BEST I have ever had. They do not have brown gravy on certain days which was a disappointment because that's how I like my country fried steak, and I also like to dip my country fried steak in steak sauce, but they also do not have steak sauce on ANY days, they do not carry that at all...maybe focus a little more on what your guests like and want Service is AMAZING! The women there are so nice and sweet! The napkins will make you extremely irritated lol So thin and cheap, they rip when you try to pull them out of the dispenser. If you want southern cooking, THIS is the place to go! Really, REALLY crossing my fingers for this place to be able to bust out its best potential! Not very impressed . Went with my husband one night after Valentine's day hoping to get a steak , only to be told you can get a steak on Saturdays. Ordered the fried chicken dinner . The chicken tasted like it was cooked in old oil and had a burnt taste . Mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant . My husband's Fish was served after my meal came ( not together ) . The Fish was over breaded , fries and hush puppies were average , cole slaw was fine. Dinners should be served together , not 10 mins after the other person . Co ordination isn't that good . Every time I've went to Ripley's dinner mail I have yet to get a bad meal and the service has always been excellent and I sort of like the ambience of the place. A lot of these places try to act too stuffy and I feel like you just don't want to eat there. They're just trying to do atmosphere and you know the food's not going to be worth a crap read more

Went specifically for the seafood boil. Was craving crab legs and went based on recommendations on "Cincy Chowdown". As is close to an hour drive, read every comment ansld review i could find online and couldn't really find anything negative. First of all......to say it's a "hole-in-the-wall" is being generous (I prefer local low key places and seek them out) - looks like a former service station/car repair that added a few walls and literally slapped some (not fresh) paint on them. Even that though, did bit deter my eagerness for a good seafood boil. It comes out in a big foil baking pan, and there is PLENTY of food........just not my idea of good food. The crab legs were small and not easy to get out of the shells without utilizing a fork time to slit the shells open. The shrimp was unseasoned and not as good as the frozen ones I prepare at home........even the sliced sausage, potatoes and corn were pretty much flavorless. They normally pour a creamy seasoned butter sauce of some sort over the entire contents of the pan, but I asked for one the side, as I didn't wish to have it running down my arms and all over my clothes. ..........Sadly, a big disappointment (and I didn't even mention the annoying flies). I am a HUGE FOODIE, and not a "food snob"........just really appreciate any kind d of good food. read more

I HAD HIGH HOPES. I was very excited about the new restaurant that was coming to town people were telling me they had been to mayslick and they said the food there was good. It opened in ripley on a Friday there was a big crowd, I wanted to see what all the buzz was about. So I asked my wife did she want to go there and eat ?so we went that Sunday for dinner. Oh what a bad decision. He was not prepared for the bid turnout. By Sunday moat of his food was gone. We placed our orders and 10 minutes later he says we don't have any of that so we ordered again, 10 minutes later he comes back and says we don't have any of that either. So I asked WHAT DO YOU HAVE? He told us he had steak and chicken. So we ordered 1 fried chicken and two steaks. When the steaks came they were burned on the outside and not cooked on the inside and they were still cold. I tried to save them by taking the home and trying to do something with them but they were too burned onthe outside. IT WAS THE WORST STEAK I HAD EVER EATEN AND I JUST THREW IT IN THE TRASH AT HOME. THE WIFE SAID NEVER AGAIN COME HERE. I dont know what happened. I know its hard to get good help and you can not put all the blame on the owner.The man sitting next to me said the food would be ok if they would give you something to eat. The sides are very small. If you eat there I wish you the best of luck. Enjoy your meal. I only gave it 2 stars because the chicken was actually good,otherwise 1 star. read more
