First let me say my best friend and I just found this place on 100% luck. We went for a dive and was getting hungry and sadly every place we found was either closed or across the river in Kentucky. We literally stopped at a pizza place just around the corner but it looked like either take out or limited seating. I googled yep I didn't use yelp sorry but everything I had found so far was closed. Well this was around the corner and right on the river. We pulled up and I thought it was closed as well, but I did see it was opened. We walked in and was shocked at it being very small town feel, well duh did you look at Ripley it is a small town. We sat down and ordered and I was super shocked at how good the food was and the service was good. Just before with left the waitress mentioned how good their burgers are and that they are hand made Pattie's. I can't wait to come back and try a burger and this is almost 2 hours from my house, but in my option so worth it. Fresh homemade bread, appetizers were house made as well as the dessert. So good and I will be back. The drive and the view was also worth it. Fun drive and great view. read more

This is the best restaurant in Ripley, OH but be aware Ripley could use more choices. The food can be very good to average. It is a nice local restaurant and one we try to support. They don't have a alcoholic beverage license, so, you can bring your own bottle! Prices are very fair and the staff is friendly and appreciative of your being there. read more

Found this restaurant on our way from Lexington to Cincinnati taking the scenic highways. The two servers running the dining area were sweet but didn't seem to be over 14 years old. Only ordered coffee and soup once we realized how dirty the tablecloths and the condiment containers were. Asked for cream for the coffee twice but by the time creamer was brought to the table, the coffee was cold. Not once was the coffee offered to be refilled. When the soup arrived, it was lukewarm. Wouldn't have mattered much if it was hot as it was the most under seasoned soup ever, absolutely no flavor. Ever hear the adage for weak coffee, "tastes like only had one bean run through it?" Well, that could be said about this soup--did I mention it was bean soup? When we asked if the soup came with crackers or something, the server looked puzzled, and brought out a plate of unwrapped crackers! Unwrapped crackers and snacks are prone to harboring bacteria. Needless to say, we didn't eat them. Not sure if the county health department visits this place but they should. Restaurants using cloth tablecloths should replace them between every sitting, as the cloth may be covered in food and bacteria. Ohio Revised Code 3717-1-04.7 requires cloth linens to be clean and free of food residue. Eat here at your own risk. read more

This quaint little restaurant was just what the doctor ordered. Morgan was an awesome waiter. He only added to the atmosphere of the place. Great view of the Ohio river. The country ribs were exceptionally tasty. Generous portions. The fresh baked bread was icing on the cake. You really can't go wrong. I'm looking forward to coming back. read more

As a new resident of Ripley we decided to get dinner at a local restaurant. What an unexpected treasure this restaurant is. The waiter, who happened to be a teenager, was very professional and knowledgeable probably one of the best waiters we have had. The food was spectacular, I had the prime rib which was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I am looking forward to returning. read more

The staff is very friendly, view of the Ohio river fantastic, and the food is fresh, homemade, and incredibly delicious every time I've been there. The interior decor is somewhat dated and needs updating, but I've never had an unpleasant dining experience. Do get the "Killer Brownie", if they have it that day. This only gets a star just because the waiters we very friendly. Maybe being from Cincy and not a a small town really threw me for a loop. But this is a old dumpy place. Went on Easter and they only had the buffet. We should have turned away when noticed it was a make shift line with sterno warmers. And a salad bar well just looked at the picture of it, no need to explain. Food was not tasty at all, lacking flavor and many at 1st were 3/4 empty. The only tasty item was the ribs and BBQ sauce. This place was amazing! Going in, I didn't know what to expect. But gee wholly was I surprised. Not only was the food absolutely amazing, the wait was short, and the service was great! The bread was to die for. My waitress, I believe her name was Reagan, was so patient and kind! She served with a smile and a side of love! That girl should get a raise! I've never had a waitress be so accommodating and quick. She seemed as though she genuinely cared about mine and my husbands experience. Unreal. The service is terrible here. I understand it's not the server's fault because she's the ONLY ONE working but to say they were slow would be a compliment. I walked out after waiting 15 minutes to order. I was told three times she would be right back- but that never really happened. If your a local, they seem to take care of you. Very pleased with this hole in the wall we stumbled upon during our special get away. The sweet potato fries are delicious. I had the garlic chicken with veggies and my dinner companion had the burger and fries. Everything was hot and delicious. The ketchup was even cold! What a rare treat! This restaurant is a lovely experience in nostalgia, great food and attentive service. I had a delightful summer salad and sausage and bean soup, my grandchildren had plain burgers, and my daughter had a "river burger". All were excellent! Decor is 1950s small family restaurant. Wow! I'm thoroughly impressed! Good food, a beautiful view, and kind service. Service was a little slow overall, but they were very busy and had one server. The bread they bring out is a loaf, and it is definitely homemade. The salad is mixed greens with tomatoes and carrots. I opted for the dill dressing and it was great! I had the ribs for an entree and they were excellent! The barbecue sauce is phenomenal. I also had the au gratin potatoes, which were on special tonight for sides. They were very creamy and delicious. Don't skimp on dessert if the have banana cake! They do allow BYOB. There is a drive thru next door. They will even provide cold glasses if you do bring your own. We got a recommendation for this place from the docent at the John Rankin house, a major player in the underground railroad that rescued many slaves in the 19th century. It's not the most prepossessing space, basically a big ramshackle old building, with signage peeling so that the "Cohearts" part of the sign wasn't quite visible. (We wandered around a bit trying to find the place.) We arrived around 3:00 on Thursday and were given menus. I did a double-take at the prices. $2.00 for a grilled cheese sandwich? Burgers for $5.00? Astounding. Our party of four ordered a catfish sandwich (with fries), a chicken salad, a "bottomless soup" (HUGE bowl) and grilled cheese sandwich, and a burger and fries. Followed up with homemade peach cobbler and ice cream. The server also brought fresh, hot bread (twice) and a pitcher of water and Pepsi for the table. Everything was deemed quite flavorful, and of course the price was more than right. The server was a charmer, and attentive enough. This place is a gem and deserves more patronage than we saw that day. The location right across from the Ohio River, in an area of historic homes and businesses, made the experience a fun one. read more

They don't serve alcohol, but you can BYOB. There is a drive thru on the road just as you turn in. Grab something there on the way from the Drive through up the street. The server was a bit overwhelmed wiht the 12 of us, but did her best. The food was pretty good and the price was reasonable. read more

As a repeat customer there is a reason I keep coming back; the food, the stunning view of the ohio river and the charm of a lovely little river town called Ripley Ohio. I've had every item on the menu over a period of several years and many visits and I can honestly say I have yet to have a meal I did not like. Whether it's just myself cozying up to a window seat for a bowl of the cooks homemade soup (that changes with each day) and a homemade loaf of her bread warm out of the oven, or with a friend for one of many delicious meals, or a family party (I've had many there) I have reserved several tables ahead of time...Cohearts seems to be the place I eat at more than any other. I've sat at a table overlooking the river and hills of KY all 4 seasons of the year. In the Winter a sweet little gas fireplace warms the room and the heart. I have also enjoyed a picture perfect day taking my meal on the front porch. It is a staff of young people that the owner carefully chooses and over the years I've enjoyed how sweet they all are. Alcohol is not served but you may bring beer or wine in with you. I highly recommend Cohearts restaurant. Every menu item is good but if I had to narrow it down to 3 favorites I'd have to say The Prime Rib...the BBQ ribs...the fried catfish dinner. The next time you want to take a day trip in Ohio, come to Ripley Ohio and choose Cohearts for lunch or dinner. They are closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday -- open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. read more

Always excellent food for a reasonable price. If you are in a hurry try Coharts at another time but if you have time to sit and watch the Ohio River roll by, this is the place to go! I have tried several menu items and several of the daily specials and I am never disappointed. Rose's Ravioli is delicious. The $4.95 burger (sorry, I forgot what it is called) huge and delicious. You can't go wrong with any of the daily specials. The owner is the chef and often the only wait staff so it keeps her moving, but the meal worth the wait. There are a few tables if you want to eat on the porch, but you need to stop inside and let her know you are there. It is a 'can't miss' stop. Great food, beautiful view, friendly service with a big smile. Tell her the Rankin House Step Climber sent you. You won't get special rates but it will make her smile. read more
