The crew all apologized and said they were super busy, they even offered us some ice cream which I politely declined. I've worked food service, it was not busy in terms of quantity. However I did only see one person in the kitchen, I'm not familiar with how A&Ws run behind the counter. That all being said. Friday night, Memorial Day weekend, passing through to the UP. Gas up and get some grub, aside from the wait it was the BEST A&W experience I've had. My fries, piping hot. Perfectly salted. Crunchy. My onion rings (I must try onions rings everywhere I go) fcking delicious. "We make everything fresh to order" I believe that. My burger, underrated. A&W has S tier burgers but get treated like a D tier restaurant. Warm, juicy, bun was soft and fluffy, the pickles were crisp but not over powering, the lettuce was crisp and clean. No burger sliding out of the buns, no nasty limp lettuce, no soggy bun. Service wise this may be the worst experience I've ever had, 2/5, at least it wasn't dirty nor the people. Food wise, this was better than if we were to sit down somewhere, this was Snappy Stop tier excellence (iykyk). 11/10 Thank you crew for fueling us for the long drive, keep up the Positive Mental Attitude.

Restaurant was very clean as well the men's room. I was the only person who was there at the time. Food, bacon cheeseburger and onion rings came very fast. I was impressed with how many onion rings I received. Maybe because no one else was coming in and they needed to move them. They were hot but not sure how fresh they really were. My burger was definitely not freshly made. You could tell it had been reheated. Bacon not so good. Again it had been around for a while. I had the drive thru a while ago when the inside was closed and the food at that time was much better. I'm not going to hurry back. Also the fresh Root Beer tap was out of order. Horrible

What bothered me is I was looking forward to a frosty mug of root beer and THEY PUT ICE IN THE MUG! That is unacceptable. If someone specifically asks for ice in a frosty mug, fine - give it to them. But by default, anybody who knows anything about A&W would not expect ice in their frosty mug! Like the old Miller Lite guy (may he rest in peace) said: "The only thing that should be in your beer is BEER!" It goes double for A&W root beer! Somebody needs to explain the tradition to the employees. I didn't complain because the establishment was getting real busy, but this needs to improve.
