We were excited to find a different fast food joint that I cannot find in the area I reside in. Husband and I were looking forward to drinking in-house made A&W root beer. If you've never had a sip of A&W root beer in one of their frosty mugs, I definitely recommend it. It's frothy, carbonated, and sweet. So much better than your normal canned root beer. It was 8PM when we arrived. The store posted that they close at 9PM. There was a family of 5 in the restaurant. Two cars in the drive through. Us and a man behind us. So for 3 to 4 employees, I definitely understand how frustrating it must be. A shout-out to them. We were heading back home from a trip up North and we really appreciate how patient they were with us. It took less than 10-minutes to get our meals to go. We grabbed our own napkins because they didn't provide any in the bag. Our burgers were packed nicely. The buns were soft, patties were juicy, and condiments were all in. Our onion rings were super soggy and fell apart. Thank goodness we grabbed the napkins because oil went down our hands after each bite. The root beer was the best part of our meal. Their restaurant was fairly clean and so was the bathroom. Their dining room was dimmed. So much that we couldn't tell if they were open, looking in from the highway. Our experience was great! Even though they are short staffed they did not look or act frazzled. They were kind and were clear with the orders. The chicken tenders were really worth the wait. They were some of the best tenders I have had in a long time and my son loved them as well. They were juicy and crispy. Thank you such to the crew for providing such amazing service. We waited 20 minutes for a hamburger and a small fry that we never ended up getting because my dad had to finally walk up to the drive thru window to get our money back. At least we got our money back, but don't plan on coming here unless you want to dedicate 20+ minutes waiting for your food. Ours wasn't even a big order. They do a good job on the fish fry on Fridays although it is a little expensive. They have a large parking lot for boats and rvs. They have wifi and clean restrooms. A and W in Minong is one of the only drive thus in the area conveniently located right off highway 53. I went through the drive-thru craving a root beer float but was told they had no ice cream. We stopped by at 1:30pm on a Sunday afternoon in July. I was thinking the lunch rush was probably slowing down but boy was I wrong. We waited over 40 minutes to order and receive our food. There aren't many options in Minong but if you can make it to the next town and have more options, I would. The food is greasy and very unhealthy. If you want some good American food and a frosty mug, this A&W location is a good option if you are in the area. I usually order some burgers and fries, and they have always been cooked and prepared as I expect from an A&W. They have TVs in the dining area so you can catch a game that is on. The staffing can be a little uneven, but most of the kids who work here seem like hard workers even if they are still learning what it takes to have and keep a job. The service can be a little slow, but I've never really had to wait particularly long even if they are busy. While you're here, make sure you get a frosty mug if it's a hot summer day! read more

This is not good. The manager would not listen to my order. I had take out and they got it wrong twice. The first time I had driven 5 miles away. I had to turn around and go back. Then the second time it was about a block. They got my daughters order wrong as well. Poor customer service. When I called they were unapologetic and did not have a good solution. The manager would not even look at me. The two women, one in black pants and the other in jeans were helpful. This is the only reason I did not demand my money back. The food is cooked fresh after ordered and the time is up on a screen flashing how many minutes you have been waiting. The rootbeer is made fresh on the spot which comes in a big frosted mug. The bacon cheeseburger was juicy and good size with fresh tomato, pickle, and onion. The chicken strips seemed cut fresh and seasoned well. Excellent ff that were very crunchy and hot. The building was new and large on inside. Wish more of these A&W's were around instead of being part of another fastfood place or in a gas station! So I decided since I had 25+ minutes to sit in the drive through I would write my first yelp review. You see, this place is classified as fast food and I have no idea why. I'm one of the rare 525 locals you hear about on the sign and being our only choice for fast food, I'm forced to eat here way more than I should. It is ALWAYS a 15+ minute wait when it's slow. If it's "busy" ie 2-3 cars in the lot and 1-2 in the drive through, you better be ready to dedicate 20+ minutes of your trip or drive to waiting in line. There wasn't just a problem the day you stopped, it's always that bad. I have sat for 40 minutes before waiting. People were walking up to the window to yell at the staff. Today is October 11th. Minong is a ghost town, 2 cars in the drive through and today's wait was 28 minutes. When I got home, I was missing half my food. If you have nothing better to do on your vacation but look at the back of someone's car, I recommend a&w! read more

This restaurant has the worst service I have ever seen. When I ordered the lady was mad at something and slammed my cup down. It didn't take to long for the food to come out but when it did it wasn't to good. The chicken was burned and greasy. Everything was very hot throughout the meal. The fries and cheese curds were the only good thing at this place. Don't even get me started on the drinks. I started with a root beer(Which you need a cup full of ice to make lukewarm) but it was flat. So I got a crush. The crush was so bad that it had a mix of rootbeer and Pepsi. I have not had good luck with any A&W restraunt. I have tried this one, one in Texas and two more in Wisconsin. This one was the worst. If you want this kind of food go to Culver's. read more

I wrote A&W about this, haven't heard back, I guess they don't care. But this is a problem. I was at this location about 3 months ago. I ordered a sandwich, I think it was a bacon cheeseburger. I watched the sandwich being assembled and to my horror, everything including the meat, cheese, bacon, everything was handled with bare hands, no gloves, no tongs, nothing. That is a huge problem because gloves and tongs are part of basic health procedures. What if someone has hepatitis and they have a cut on their hands? There are lawsuits going on in Charlotte, North Carolina involving just this situation where a fast food employee is being blamed for an outbreak of hepatitis. My issue too with this is, if they don't have the sense to use gloves or tongs, then what other things are they doing wrong that are not seen by the customer? read more

My visit to A&W today was my worst fast food experience EVER! We were the 3rd family in line and it took us around 10 minutes to even place our order because the 2 kids that were working in the front clearly didn't care about how fast the line was moving. After we placed our order we waited another 20 minutes and finally asked for a refund. There was so much confusion there and we were one of at least 5 orders for dine in that were waiting for a very long time, plus drive thru customers kept coming in because their orders were messed up. when I asked for my refund I politely said that we would pay for the sodas that we had already sipped on. We never received an apology for anything and I assumed that they would have at least given us our drinks for free just to be courteous and have good customer service. So we ended up paying for overpriced fountain soda and left without a receiving single apology. We will NEVER return to this restaurant again! read more

This place was filthy. All of the doors had dirty hand-prints all over them. The floors were littered with papers as well as the outdoor parking lot. The food was okay, but given the appearance of the dining area and entrances not sure what the kitchen looked like. We went through the drive thru today and waited 40 minutes. We couldn't get out of line as the design of the drive thru is straight only. No way to get out once someone is behind you. We called the restaurant while waiting in line and they said they were short staffed then hung up on us. After 40 minutes we finally got our food. I could see five employees behind the counter, and I'm almost certain none of them were cooking (so I'm guessing more were working). I asked Kathy if I could get an explanation as to why it took so long and she didn't answer me. I asked her again and she closed the drive thru window on me. We called a few times asking for the corporate number and we get a number to a wildlife center. The general manager, Kelly, was rude and when it was pointed out he had a poor attitude his response was "yes, I know". If you have a hard time serving lunch to both the walking guests and the drive thru, perhaps you should close the drive thru. Hire new staff, they were very rude. read more
