We have eaten here many times with no issue, but on June 14th which was a Sunday, we stopped on our way through town. I placed my order with a very polite kid. Following that, a buddy of his showed and placed an order and they proceeded to visit while I waited for my to go order for over a half hour. Other customers who ordered after me got their order before I did. I finally got our order, jumped back in our truck, passed out the food. It was freezing cold and our root beers were warm with no ice. It was such a disappointment as we were on a long trip and we're starving. Definitely will not be back. read more

My son and I stopped here on a trip through Wisconsin a few months ago for a root beer float. When we arrived it was busy and they were only accepting Drive Thru and walkups. However, my son ordered and had his food within 5 minutes and we were back on the road. The parking lot was clean and the outside of the restaurant looked to be in reasonable repair. read more

Grabbed a few coneys from A&W in Iron River on a ride up to the Peninsula last week, upon arrival the place brought be back to 1994 when I stopped there on a camping trip with my grandparents as a child, pretty sure the place hasnt changed in 30 years. Has that nostalgia factor for sure..... however, as a regular customer at the Superior,WI location on coney Tuesdays, i gotta say these have to be the worst coneys I've ever consumed..... my finger nail is still glowing Harley orange from the greasy coney sauce they were slopped in. Just some orange flavorless greasy mess doused over a hot dawg w some diced onion....I had heart burn before I even made it out of town and iron rivers one of them lil towns you sneeze while driving past, you missed the whole town. Definitely will sneeze past this place on my next journey thru Iron River. the chick at the counter, hella friendly..... the food, unfriendly my friends UNFRIENDLY. read more

First off, I have never gone this far to complain about anything, but you need to know about our experience yesterday at your drive thru location in Iron River Wisconsin. Let me preface this by saying that our family has been visiting this place since the early 60's as we have a summer place at a local lake. We would always stop..great memories. Yesterday was different. We stopped, there were a few customers but I would not say busy. We were not in a rush. I walked up to the window, ordered my food, paid my money and waited, and waited and waited. Nothing. Customers that came after me got there food orders so I thought perhaps the forgot us. I asked the kid at the window if he forgot. He said no. Waited an additional 10 minutes and watched other customers after me get their orders. I then told the kid that he did in fact forget the order and to give me a refund. So, in the 40 minutes that I was there, could clearly see the employees as this is a very small place. First off, street cloths, not even a shirt with a A&W insignia on it, back screen door in the cooking area open, guys sitting out back smoking cigs, not washing there hands when they come back to the grill. Hair hanging past the shoulders, no hair nets. To be honest, I would not eat the food even if I did get it. Very disappointed. Childhood memories shot to hell yesterday!!! read more

Awful. The girls that work here mess around way to much and are so rude. The place is nasty inside and out the bathrooms are DISGUSTING. A lot of people passing through I'm sure but go somewhere else ...don't even stop here it's nasty. You'd think a bunch of young workers could clean a bathroom instead of goofing around but I guess they're above that. The food is gross and they messed our order up. We had to go complain. All in all I wished I wouldn't have spent my money here at all. This place won't last. Especially with the staff they have. Everyone's under the age of 16 and I guess kids don't have much work ethic anymore. PASSSS ON STOPPING HERE!!! read more

I had a grilled chicken sandwich and a burger for lunch and both were very good. The French fries were just ok - I think I'd try the onion rings instead next time. I ordered at the window but a car hop delivered the food. Good service - good food snd very reasonable prices. read more

This is an old school walk up/drive in AW Rootbeer. They have the full burger kinda chili cheese dog menu..The Drive up is fun and they mount the trays to your window for that old school effect. I almost always get a root beer float regardless of what my food order is. This is a must stop. read more

A&W Restaurant - Walk up counter - Burgers Near Me - Iron River, Wisconsin

Iron River location. My sister and I stopped there yesterday with our two 8 year old daughters and a 9 year old friend. The boy at the window did his job, wasn't overly friendly, but got the job done. Food was okay, standard A & W, and we had ice cream which was, well, ice cream. What for me was review worthy, is that there is a small shelter area in the back of the restaurant with picnic tables for guests. This IS a part of the restaurant, this being primarily a drive up and drive through location. There was a table near us, at which 3 young men, maybe 12-15 years old sat (I assume they were friends with the kid working the window since the one previously butted in front of us in line). They were so loud and foul mouthed and rude, making loud gagging and vomiting noises, swearing loudly, and were so utterly obnoxious, that my sister finally asked them to please quiet down, as there were young kids present. I did add that we were trying to enjoy our meal. Our response?? The one kid piped up "suck my left" and they all laughed and guffawed and went up to report their behavior to their buddy working the window. So though this isn't the fault of the A & W, it is a part of their restaurant- and if these obnoxious little tools were acting this way inside a brick and mortar restaurant, you bet they'd be kicked out. This is the problem With having teenagers running these places. And this being said, there's no where to sit and actually have your meal at this establishment. I'm over it, but I do hope the parents of Gavin, Gavin and Josh in Iron River read this and realize what outstanding young men you are raising! And maybe management could look at putting up some Signage in this area to remind people (sad that in this day and age this has to be done) that this is a public place and to please have some respect for others! read more

I live near Iron River and go to it a lot. It offers delivery during covid and makes delicious food. at least try it!

Any time I'm in the area I stop and get the root beer float. Hot summer days or cold fall days. Delicious! So glad there is an A&W nearby.
