I'm a bit surprised by some of the negative reviews because my wife and I had a truly wonderful…read moreexperience with Lumber Liquidators in Freeport. Perhaps it was because Floyd (Store Manager) helped us and was an absolute delight to work with, but even another employee who helped us when we picked up the flooring (unfortunately cannot remember his name) was fantastic as well. One of the things I appreciate about this store is its simplicity. In looking for new flooring for our basement, my wife and I visited 5 flooring stores across Long Island. Lumber Liquidators offers the most competitive prices we could find given the quality of the material. We're not talking Gatsby mansion flooring, but if like us you were just looking for quality vinyl for your basement, this place really does the trick. Selection here is modest compared to some warehouse giants like Floors & Decor, but we found exactly what we needed and the price was at least 10% cheaper than we found at Floors & Decor. Better yet, the flooring we wanted was immediately available. We mentioned we weren't going to be buying the foam (for underneath the vinyl) at the store because we found a better price elsewhere, and there was no sales pitch or hesitation. Floyd simply took it off the list. Likewise, there were no hidden fees or no nickel-and-diming. There was an added cost to have the flooring shipped, but we knew we would be able to pick up and drive it home ourselves. Communication with the employees from start to finish was refreshingly positive. Sure enough, pickup was a breeze. We called ahead to let them know we'd be stopping by later that day (they just need an hour's notice to prep, which they told us in advance). When we stopped by, we waited maybe 3 minutes and then had an employee move all the flooring into our car for us. We then drove it home, acclimated the floor to the basement, and our basement contractor installed it beautifully for us. We are in love with the results and saved money in the process! I can't see why we wouldn't return here whether for vinyl or quality hardwood flooring. The price, quality, and service really impressed me for a place that otherwise has a 2.5-star average rating. Even if you decide to get your flooring someplace else, it's worth taking a look here first.

We were scheduled for a Saturday, but had to call the Friday before to find out what time. We were informed that it would be around 1-3 PM because the crew wants to do another job before ours. We didn't like that, but there was nothing we could do. We were told the crew would call us an hour before they arrive. We eventually got a call and were told they can't come and want to reschedule for Monday. That's not an option because we do not currently live at the residence and we work during the week. This is why we scheduled a Saturday and we even left the entire day open for them because they didn't know when exactly they would be coming. Then some sketchy guy with an unlisted number called us and said he was referred to us by John (no idea who that is). He said to reschedule the job with Barrys and this guy named Kevin would come and do the job for much cheaper today. He said definitely don't cancel the appointment - just reschedule. It was super weird, but we were desperate. In the end, no one showed up. Still don't know who Kevin or John are, but considering we only contacted one company about the floors, we are guessing someone from Barrys contacted them. This is just a terrible way to run a business.

These are all wonderful aspects of a business but what I love most about this place is that you feel so welcomed from the moment you walk in, to the moment you leave. It feels more like a place you want to stop by weekly. Barry so kindly and generously donated some carpet squares to my sons school so that they are able to sit comfortably while learning outside during these compromised Covid times. This place is great!!!

Please stay away at all cost!!!…read more My husband and I hired Joe to sand and lighten the floors of our house. He said that he could get the job done in one week and because of the type of wood in our home it would be better to go darker. Along the way there were some hiccups involving the color of the floor and how the floor would stain, but joe did stay in communication with us. HOWEVER Joe is a yes man. He will yes you the death and then when you aren't satisfied he will say "I don't know what else there is to do." I asked for an even dark finish and many of the panels were different colors as you can see in the picture. I had another independent company and one of Joe's employees come look at the floor. Both stated that some steps were missed. The floors are scratching left and right and we will definitely have to get another company to redo the floors. In the end I paid Joe over $3,000 and said the job was fine because it was too much hassle to get him to take accountability. I waited a month just to see if the color would settle in but it didn't. I called joe one last time to get advice and see if there's anything we could do. His response "this doesn't concern me anymore and of course other companies would tell you the floors look bad." While some parts of the home look beautiful other parts look absolutely awful and with all of the scratches we will definitely need to redo the floors.

It was my first time refinishing wood floors, my advice to anyone would be to cover everything with tarps to control dust from the sanding process. It's so worth it to have beautiful wood floors.
