I wanted them to pick up their tank that I had been paying $81 per quarter for. They continued to charge me the $81 even though I asked them to pick up their tank because I had apparently agreed to lease the tank from them for 3 full years. Oh well, I guess that's my fault for not reading the fine print when I started buying propane from them. Then, when I asked if they would be refunding me for the unused propane in the tank, they said no. When I objected they again said that provision was also in the lease agreement. So my advice to folks is, don't buy the "we are family" balcony they give you when you sign up and review everything with a fine tooth comb BEFORE you sign anything.

After serving 22 years in the Marines, I would say that I am disgusted by this company and their lack of ethics and pride in serving their community. In early April of 2025 I noticed that a patch of lawn was dead, and when I smelled the dirt it smelled of oil. Bags containing absorbant material from the old oil tank had been placed on that spot. I first called the offices at John Ray & Sons on 4/3/2025 to resolve this issue. Since then I have had two no-call, no-show appointments. Two unanswered e-mails, and I have made several phone calls to their office. Eventually someone came out to resolve the issue on 5/2/2025. The solution was to remove as much dead grass as could be removed with a rake and spread grass seed over the area. The grass seed did not germinate in the oil contaminated soil. I contacted John Ray and Sons again on 5/20/2025 and was told that neither one of the customer service reps I had been communicating with were available. 48 hours later I still have not heard from either of them.

As if I would sign a contract & pay several thousand dollars for a one day job before it's even scheduled, let alone anyone showing up to actually do the work. No wonder they have so many bad reviews.
