Upon arriving, I was immediately helped get through the details of my repair and we were off to the races. Once finished, they contacted me, I scheduled another shuttle to return (again, most places will not do this), and within 12 minutes, I was on my way again. Back at their shop, they explained my bill, the work they completed, and we took care of the bill. I am extremely happy that I found these guys. Afterward, I was told the car had multiple oil and coolant leaks and was quoted an additional $3,500 for repairs. On a car worth about $4,000, this didn't make financial sense. When I declined the extensive repairs, there was no discussion of smaller, interim solutions or things I could try myself; the only suggestion was financing the full amount. The immediate next step was being asked to retrieve my vehicle. The shop was extremely busy, and I left with the impression that they prioritize large, high-cost jobs. Disappointed with the experience and lack of flexible solutions, I will not be returning. Update to my previous review: It's been two weeks since I picked up my vehicle, and I have not observed any oil on my driveway. This seems inconsistent with what I was told about the severity of the oil leak issue during my visit. I have checked the oil level multiple times and it appears to remain at the same level. After posting my initial review, I received several phone calls from the shop owner requesting that I modify my review. I eventually asked that these calls stop. Service details: I paid $180 for initial diagnostics, during which I was told there was an 80% probability that the problem was my battery cables. I then paid $235.19 for new battery cables, but it did not resolve the issue. A subsequent diagnosis costing $359.98 identified a bad ground wire, which was then repaired by tapping in a new wire. Additional observations from my service experience: When I collected my vehicle, I noticed what appeared to be a black, grease-like substance on the exterior door handle that was not present when I dropped it off. I also discovered that the front emblem was no longer attached to my vehicle. When I inquired about this inside the shop, staff located the emblem and handed it to me and told me it fell off when they closed the hood. I check my fluids every month, this has never happened to me. There was no offer to repair the damage.

Adam and the Wizard Transmission team are, well, wizards. After traveling up to CO from TX, and…read morepicking up a 15k 5th wheel for a 3.5-week adventure, the transmission in my 2012 F-250 6.7 started overheating (270*) just an hour in. We retreated back down I-70, stayed in Denver, and made frantic calls the next morning. Adam was extremely accommodating and asked me to come in right away. Upon arrival, he instantly knew the transmission model # without even checking the VIN. We spoke about the modifications I had (37s, tune, not re-geared) and I took an Uber back to my hotel. He called that afternoon to say that it might be a couple things but wanted to crack the pan to see if I did any damage by overheating (mind you, it went to 270* for less than a minute before shutting it down). Later that day, he reported it was clean (no metal shavings), but the fluid was a bit stinky. They replaced the fluid and filter and it should be ready in the morning, but to wait for his call. This sounded right but we were both still a little suspect that somewhat used fluid would cause it to overheat. I heard from him the next morning. He said he had a thought on the way home the night before, so he did some digging. He realized the transmission had a separate cooling system. It's the first thing he checked upon return the next day. It's situated as part of the standard cooling system, but has separate reservoirs. Low and behold, it was empty. The shop who did my transmission service in Texas drained the radiator AND the tranny coolant systems. They only refilled the radiator system. Adam said it took a full 2.5-gallons in the tranny cooler. His tech took it for some hard runs on the highway and couldn't get it much over 200* (normal). I was thrilled. All in, 36 hours of delay. He moved many vehicles out of the way for me. He was sympathetic to the fact that I was taking my wife, dog, and 2 young kids on a massive adventure. Throughout our journey, I couldn't get the transmission over 207* (5+ minute mountain pass pulls with 15k pounds on the back). To top it off, 1 week later, I get a call on Saturday night. It's Adam. He's returned from his trip and came across my invoice. He remembered my son's socks and daughter's toys in the backseat and wanted to make sure my trip was going great (it was). This personal touch is exceptionally touching and typically lost in this day in age of quick transactions. I am incredibly grateful for Adam and the Wizard Transmission Team. Along with that, they had much better pricing (aka not taking advantage of customers) for a few other items that I wanted to get done on the car. We will be Max Auto customers for life! 7/24/2026: Updating this review after a more recent, more complicated repair. My most recent repair was a rough experience. The car was towed in on 7/13 after we hit a boulder during a creek crossing and obliterated the oil pan. I was told on 7/14 that they'd get to it that day, but it wasn't actually looked at until 7/16. From there, the part had to be ordered and didn't arrive until 7/20. (I was later told that they did confirm the oil pan damage on 7/14, but the oil pan still was not ordered until 7/16.) While the work was scheduled to be completed on 7/21, the car wasn't ready to be picked up until 7/23. The bigger issue was that I had to initiate almost every single update myself. I'd ask "any news?" and get a status; otherwise I heard nothing, even on days they'd told me I'd get an update. At one point I was told "tomorrow will be the day," and then heard nothing again until I followed up. I understand that this was an unscheduled tow-in, and they told me at one point that they'd put other jobs aside to get to mine faster, but honestly, there never seemed to be any sense of urgency on their end -- our (only!) car ended up being in the shop for over a week and a half. It doesn't seem like the place for an emergency repair, since their schedule seems consistently over-packed, which makes it hard for them to actually prioritize anything, urgent or not. To be clear, I don't doubt the quality of the actual repair work, and I still trust their diagnostics and pricing based on my original experience. But the communication issues were enough to make me hesitant about coming back.
