This might be the best experience I've ever had with a mechanic shop. I just purchased a used 2014 Forester and not long after driving it off the lot got a dreaded check engine light. The dealer was no help, and I was worried that I'd made a BIG mistake. I made an online quote request on SubieSmith's site and Reid got back to me very quickly and explained the process, which I found very encouraging. He is super friendly and professional. I brought the car in for a general inspection (which was free) and Buddy performed the inspection and sent me the very thorough and easy to read report. He pinpointed the problem and it turned out to be an inexpensive fix. And the report is so great because they go through everything and color code it. Red needs the most immediate attention, yellow is recommended work, and green is everything is A-OK. The yellow items are explained and lets you know how soon you should probably attend to the issue, and they even tell you how much it's going to cost. Also, before I brought in the car, it started making a creaking sound and was getting kind of bouncy when I went over bumps. I didn't mention anything to them about that, but lo and behold, on the report they noted a loose sway bar that they went ahead and tightened. No charge. And now the car rides smooth as silk. So now I have a nice running, well-inspected car, and a roadmap of the upcoming things that I'll be fixing so I can budget them in and get them done without a huge expense. How great is that? This place is very great and I can't recommend them highly enough! read more

I have reviewed these guys before, but they deserve another 5 stars. I had a strut completely go out, luckily was very close to my trusted auto shop. As always Shane was thorough with explaining the issues and what the options were. He gave me 3 options and when asked if it was his car what would he do, he was very honest and said well I'm a mechanic so my answer is a little different, but if it was my mother's car... and gave me his suggestion. It was not the most expensive option, but rather the safest and best option. There's never any pressured sales from these guys and they honestly just care about your safety on the road. Also, when he called me to let me know my car was done, he also let me know that one of the repairs that was expected actually did not need to be done and the cost was a couple hundred less than expected. Aaron fixed a U joint for me last year on my very old Subaru Outback (I forgot to place a review). Amazing service, very reasonable price and extremely quick! It was making some noises and didn't pass emissions this past weekend. Aaron and team got my car in and gave me a full diagnostic of what repairs I would need. It's so nice to have a group of car mechanics that you trust, it's just one less thing to worry about. They've done routine care on my car, given me suggestions, while showing me directly on my vehicle what the issue was. The latest of a string of good deeds was Shane showing me a small oil leak in my engine - then guiding me on getting the dealer to fix it (camshaft carriers) even though the powertrain warranty had expired a couple months ago. I thought the issue with my rear hatch lock was going to be a simple fix. The latch got locked with the hatch open, preventing me from closing and locking it. When I called SubieSmith, they thought it would be quick. Then said I need to schedule time for. When I left it with them, they called and sent email estimating more than $500 for new latch replacement. Said it shorted out. I didn't have the money, so I took it back without being able to latch the hatch. Took it to another Subaru guy on Simms near Colfax & got it fixed in 20 minutes for $35. I couldn't be happier with SubieSmith! They were able to get me in sooner than I had expected for an AC fix. My AC now blows ice cold, which is a life saver in the heat of the summer. Friendly service and quick turn around for getting my car in. 2 issues. 1. They charged me a $100 for a simple oil change and rotation. 2. They parked my new car under a tree the day after it snowed. Aaron took a lot of time to go over my vehicle with a fine-toothed comb, explained what he saw - and expected to see - and then gave me an accurate quote. Dropped my car off complaining of grinding and squeaking from the front end that I believed was the brakes. They said a rear wheel bearing was the source of the noise and needed replacing. I paid $500 dollars for a wheel bearing assembly and my car literally screamed all the way home. Complete waste of money. read more

Bring your Subaru here! We are a family of four Subaru's and have used many of the repair places in the boulder and denver area. My dad found this place on yelp and we gave it a try based on the other positive reviews. I was impressed with this place they gave us Accurate quotes over the phone and got me in for service the next business day. My husband and I discovered Aaron on Craigs List after learning that a majority of mechanics will NOT install parts unless purchased by them. We had already purchased most items needed to do a timing chain replacement on our 2000 Honda Accord. The parts we ordered were genuine manufacturer parts by Gates Rubber, but like I said, most mechanics won't consider doing the work unless they directly purchase the parts. I was looking for a new Subaru shop after the one I used for years started lacking in customer service. I am so happy I found SubieSmith! The customer service is 5+ stars. Over the phone they were very polite and explained the whole process of how they work. I arrived to drop off my car and they were very safe and explained everything that they would be doing. They also gave me timely updates. The other thing I like was they give you a list of work that needs done now, in a few months, or later int he future so you can start saving. Had a $3800 estimate from a chain auto repair firm for Subaru Head Gasket replacement. The vehicle was over ten years old and I struggled with the idea of repair or maybe having to buy a new car. So I did a little research and found Aaron at SubieSmith. Aaron said that his apples to apples estimate was going to come in at around $1400 after taxes and I said go for it! He pointed out some other work that could be done since the engine was already out and that made great sense to me so I gave him the go ahead and for another $800 (looking up average costs on the internet - the fixes totaled between $4k and $7K) got these fixes handled as well!!! This is the place to go if you need a repair on your Subaru. Aaron and his mechanics are thorough, honest, transparent and do fantastic work. Their inspections are thorough and they include you in the inspections and explain things in a way that makes sense. I've had a lot of issues with mechanics in the past doing sketchy work and overcharging, but Aaron is breaking down those barriers and is providing a totally different experience. They replaced a radiator, water pump and timing belt and used real Subaru parts and held in to my old parts to show me the wear and issues with said parts. They also did a late last minute spark plug and wires change to my wife's outback and were very thorough and offered to let her watch them do the repair. Once again, these guys are bringing honesty, quality and transparency back to car repair in a city saturated with crappy mechanics.
