We got hit on the highway coming into denver at the start of a 4 week roadtrip and needed to get our taillights fixed ASAP to continue. Subaru Smith in Lakewood told us the part we needed to get and said "come on by once you do and we will put it in for you". We talked to both Sam and Todd and when we showed up, Sam stopped what he was doing, switched out the light in the parking lot (with some cheerful help from Brian) and wouldn't even let us pay Because it was such a quick fix. My belief in humanity is restored!! Thank you for your kindness, expertise and good humor! Go Subaru Smith!!! We highly recommend their services! read more

Couldn't love them more!!! Great service, great folks, keep me running! I still need more characters to post this so just go there, they're great. read more

I called with a question and not only did Todd walk me through possible problems and solutions, but he suggested I come by and drive my car with a mechanic to see if they could help me further diagnose without the extra work on either end. everyone I talked to was attentive and explanatory (but not overly so, made sure I was understanding) read more

Been coming to Subiesmith since I moved to the state last year and this shop is amazing. They do great work, break down their inspection on your car(and it's thorough inspection across your whole car), and tell it to you straight with what you car needs. They will advise you when there's something you can do yourself which shows real integrity! Looking forward to bringing my car here when the times come read more

I found my new carshop. They fixed an issue that 3 places in California had looked and and couldnt find the problem. They figured it out quickly and it was so fairly priced. My car runs properly for the first time in years. They do not try to upsell you, Ill trust them with repairs in my future. read more

This might be the best experience I've ever had with a mechanic shop. I just purchased a used 2014 Forester and not long after driving it off the lot got a dreaded check engine light. The dealer was no help, and I was worried that I'd made a BIG mistake. I made an online quote request on SubieSmith's site and Reid got back to me very quickly and explained the process, which I found very encouraging. He is super friendly and professional. I brought the car in for a general inspection (which was free) and Buddy performed the inspection and sent me the very thorough and easy to read report. He pinpointed the problem and it turned out to be an inexpensive fix. And the report is so great because they go through everything and color code it. Red needs the most immediate attention, yellow is recommended work, and green is everything is A-OK. The yellow items are explained and lets you know how soon you should probably attend to the issue, and they even tell you how much it's going to cost. Also, before I brought in the car, it started making a creaking sound and was getting kind of bouncy when I went over bumps. I didn't mention anything to them about that, but lo and behold, on the report they noted a loose sway bar that they went ahead and tightened. No charge. And now the car rides smooth as silk. So now I have a nice running, well-inspected car, and a roadmap of the upcoming things that I'll be fixing so I can budget them in and get them done without a huge expense. How great is that? This place is very great and I can't recommend them highly enough! read more

These guys are great. They are very friendly and very helpful. Be prepared to be schedule out a ways because a lot of people go to these guys for good reason read more

Great experience. Honest estimate promo communications and clear explanations. No bs high pressure to add or pad the bill.

this may be the best auto repair experience i have ever had. I am a senior citizen and was treated like i was a life long customer their estimate was hundreds of dollars under other repair shops in the area. They are Subaru specialists and could not be more capable in their handling my major problem Their estimate was spot on, their estimated time of my repair was exactly on time. Buddy and Ace could not have been more helpful and genuinely concerned read more

Subie Smith is the only place I would take my Subaru in Denver. They are incredibly honest and helpful. Fair pricing, upfront about costs. Great communication. I could ask all of the questions I needed to about repairs/suggested maintenance and they would patiently explain their recommendations without making me feel pressured. Great staff. read more

I have reviewed these guys before, but they deserve another 5 stars. I had a strut completely go out, luckily was very close to my trusted auto shop. As always Shane was thorough with explaining the issues and what the options were. He gave me 3 options and when asked if it was his car what would he do, he was very honest and said well I'm a mechanic so my answer is a little different, but if it was my mother's car... and gave me his suggestion. It was not the most expensive option, but rather the safest and best option. There's never any pressured sales from these guys and they honestly just care about your safety on the road. Also, when he called me to let me know my car was done, he also let me know that one of the repairs that was expected actually did not need to be done and the cost was a couple hundred less than expected. Highly recommend!!! read more

Great service, nice employees, but you'll pay 25-50% more than other Subaru shops in the Denver metro area. Would be 5 stars if not for the pricing. read more

Aaron fixed a U joint for me last year on my very old Subaru Outback (I forgot to place a review). Amazing service, very reasonable price and extremely quick! It was making some noises and didn't pass emissions this past weekend. Aaron and team got my car in and gave me a full diagnostic of what repairs I would need. When I asked how much for the diagnostic, there was no charge! Shocked! Other places would have charged me a lot! They are so nice and know what they are doing and are very honest, didn't try to talk me into anything! Completely recommend! read more

I'm so glad to have found the team at SubieSmith! They were my FOURTH opinion for an air conditioner that would be intermittent some days, not work at all or just blow hot air. After over a year of back and forth between the dealer, other local shops, replacing this part, that part and whatever else they could think of, I was recommended to the shop and they FIGURED OUT THE ISSUE!! Oh my gosh it has been such a relief to finally have this taken care of! They weren't going to let the car win and that was MUCH appreciated to know they care and want to help! Highly recommend to any other Subaru owner. read more

It's so nice to have a group of car mechanics that you trust, it's just one less thing to worry about. They've done routine care on my car, given me suggestions, while showing me directly on my vehicle what the issue was. The latest of a string of good deeds was Shane showing me a small oil leak in my engine - then guiding me on getting the dealer to fix it (camshaft carriers) even though the powertrain warranty had expired a couple months ago. Saved me $2-3k, no joke. They're just nice guys too, I think they're even delivering groceries and tp to their clients in need at no charge - this is a small business you want to support! read more

I couldn't be happier with SubieSmith! They were able to get me in sooner than I had expected for an AC fix. My AC now blows ice cold, which is a life saver in the heat of the summer. They were very friendly and transparent about everything. They answered all of my questions thoroughly and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. I will absolutely be bringing my car back for work in the future. I highly recommend these guys! read more

I thought the issue with my rear hatch lock was going to be a simple fix. The latch got locked with the hatch open, preventing me from closing and locking it. When I called SubieSmith, they thought it would be quick. Then said I need to schedule time for. When I left it with them, they called and sent email estimating more than $500 for new latch replacement. Said it shorted out. I didn't have the money, so I took it back without being able to latch the hatch. Took it to another Subaru guy on Simms near Colfax & got it fixed in 20 minutes for $35. Be careful is my warning read more

My daughter had her car serviced here and they did an excellent job! Shane fully communicated what was wrong and showed us the faulty part. An estimate was provided promptly and they quickly made repairs once given the okay. Shane was very pleasant each time we spoke. She won't be taking her Subaru anywhere else! read more

We were starting a long trip in the winter from Colorado to Seattle when a check engine light came on in our 2008 Outback. Subiesmith fit us in, diagnosed the code, added a quart of oil and sent us on our way without charging a dime. We made it! Definitely would come here again. read more

Friendly service and quick turn around for getting my car in. 2 issues. 1. They charged me a $100 for a simple oil change and rotation. 2. They parked my new car under a tree the day after it snowed. My car was covered in branches and leaves....filthy. The Subaru dealership was 20% less and washed my car. I will use the dealership from now on. read more

SubieSmith did a significant amount of work on my 2010 Subaru Forester for a very fair price. Aaron took a lot of time to go over my vehicle with a fine-toothed comb, explained what he saw - and expected to see - and then gave me an accurate quote. He kept me informed throughout the process, and stuck to the original repair schedule. I had my car back in the timeframe quoted, for the price quoted. He even explained the warranties on the various replacement parts and provided me with authenticity and warranty papers on the appropriate ones. And my 8-year-old vehicle drives like it is NEW. Two months later, Aaron contacted me to make sure my car is running as expected, and didn't have any additional problems crop up (it is running perfectly). Aaron is honest, honest, honest. He and the other workers at SubieSmith clearly have passion for what they do, and they garner a lot of respect from their customers. I've never experienced a car repair like this. I would not hesitate to: 1. Bring my car back; and 2. Trust anything Aaron tells me about my car. All of the folks who work here are truly on the ball! Highly recommended. read more

Dropped my car off complaining of grinding and squeaking from the front end that I believed was the brakes. They said a rear wheel bearing was the source of the noise and needed replacing. I paid $500 dollars for a wheel bearing assembly and my car literally screamed all the way home. Complete waste of money. read more

Had a blown head gasket with my 02 outback that they fixed at a reasonable price and got her back on the road, very upfront with pricing. During there inspection of my 05 getting ready for long road trip they found quite a few things that the local subi places and a dealership had missed, I'll drive by the other places and come here from now on, keep up the good work! read more

Bring your Subaru here! We are a family of four Subaru's and have used many of the repair places in the boulder and denver area. My dad found this place on yelp and we gave it a try based on the other positive reviews. I was impressed with this place they gave us Accurate quotes over the phone and got me in for service the next business day. They did quality work quickly and even told us that we didn't need a timing belt when we thought we did (it had been replaced recently but we couldn't remember). Nice guys- friendly and professional. We will be using them again and recommending them ! read more

Aaron at SubieSmith was so helpful. I wish I'd heard of this place sooner, before my Ru was ready to bite the dust. I'm probably going to get a Toyota next (just to try out the other best car make out there), but having found SubieSmith I'm almost tempted to get another Ru! It's so important to have a good Subaru specialist if you own a Subaru. Had I found this place sooner, maybe mine wouldn't be on its last leg now. With Aaron's advice I'm equipped to get by until I find my next ride!! Thank you!! read more

Aaron at SubiSmith is the best. He recharged my AC so swiftly and diagnostic was phenomenal. I was told elsewhere my AC was leaking. That I needed to replacey O rings. None was true. My car is fixed and my AC went from 103 degrees to 36 degrees. I'm overjoyed and forever grateful. And it was as fair as can. read more

Aaron is truly a master of his trade. I researched head gasket repairs for months in multiple states, and the price and service he provided cannot be beat. He provided a detailed breakdown of findings after disassembling my engine, and noted the prices to repair while the engine was already out/disassembled, as well as if I brought it back for that repair at a later point in time. All in I probably saved 50% compared to the quoted pricing at Groove Subaru. read more

Absolutely everything I could want in a mechanic. I came to them for the first time for a pre purchase inspection and they discovers MAJOR issues with a vehicle I was about to purchase. They were up-front, very detailed, very quick and attentive and made sure I understood everything that they found. They even offered me a discount on another pre purchase inspection since their diligent work revealed major issues in the car I was going to purchase. I can't thank them enough for helping me avoid a $20,000 mistake of a car purchase!!! read more

I've been fortunate to have some good mechanics in my life, but Aaron is in a league of his own. I brought my Outback in knowing that it was going to need some work (I needed my head gaskets replaced, as well as several odds and ends that had been ignored for too long). Aaron did an extensive review of my car and was able to give me a priority list of things that probably needed work sooner rather than later and things that I could wait on. He spent a lot of time explaining how things worked and why I needed what I needed, which was much appreciated. He was methodical, efficient, and obviously cared about the quality of his work. I'm happy to have found my new mechanic in Denver and would not hesitate to recommend him to other Subaru owners. read more

Really impressed. Aaron is super meticulous and thorough. Went in to have my drive belts replaced and asked him to look over my car for any other repairs that needed to be done. He went over my entire car explaining and showing me everything and made me a priority list of repairs to think about. He also came in before his scheduled hours so I could make it to work and prices are super reasonable. Would definitely recommend him for any Subaru repairs and will definitely be getting all my work done here. read more

My husband and I discovered Aaron on Craigs List after learning that a majority of mechanics will NOT install parts unless purchased by them. We had already purchased most items needed to do a timing chain replacement on our 2000 Honda Accord. The parts we ordered were genuine manufacturer parts by Gates Rubber, but like I said, most mechanics won't consider doing the work unless they directly purchase the parts. OK, I get it, but the window to return the parts had expired so here we were. "Subie" or Aaron did a fantastic and thorough job, at a great price and the Honda was done in under 4 hours. I recommend Aaron for all things big and small. As a woman walking into a repair shop, it's scary, but he clearly communicated what needed to take place and called us before proceeding on any other "repair" items that were not discussed or otherwise detected. Thanks SUBIE! read more

Aaron is not only a great mechanic, but also a great business owner - the level of professionalism, service, and transparency is light years beyond anything I've ever experienced at a mechanic. SubieSmith is truly awesome. read more

I had been looking for someone who knew how to work on my Subaru properly for YEARS, came here and right away found great people. Told them I was hoping to get more savvy under the hood so they let me hang out in the shop area while they were checking my car out, showing me stuff that I'd never heard of and walking me through everything. Put stuff in simple terms that a non-mechanic would be able to understand, recognized me even though I came in ONCE for about 15 minutes 6-7 months before. Good people and good service. read more

If your Subaru is sick, bring it to these guys! I had quite a bit of work done to a "new to me" 05 forester, and they were super helpful and really walked me through the process and showed me exactly what the issues were before starting the work. They turned my vehicle around quickly and everyone there had a real passion for the cars! Definitely will be my long term mechanic for my "new" Subaru! read more

I was looking for a new Subaru shop after the one I used for years started lacking in customer service. I am so happy I found SubieSmith! The customer service is 5+ stars. Over the phone they were very polite and explained the whole process of how they work. I arrived to drop off my car and they were very safe and explained everything that they would be doing. They also gave me timely updates. The other thing I like was they give you a list of work that needs done now, in a few months, or later int he future so you can start saving. Once my car was done they were very thorough in explaining what they did, they showed me what they could, and gave me a paper and electronic copy of services completed. And they were never pushy on other services they recommended. They even checked on my car 2 months later. I have a 2001 Subaru and I am very picky who works on it, but I highly recommend SubieSmith. read more

I took my 2009 Outback here for a new timing belt, water pump, oil change and inspection. They are very honest about pricing, absolutely no surprises! When I picked up the vehicle, Aaron explained everything in detail, and showed me the parts that were replaced as well as what my car will be needing within the next few months. This is my new place to take my Subaru to! read more

Had a $3800 estimate from a chain auto repair firm for Subaru Head Gasket replacement. The vehicle was over ten years old and I struggled with the idea of repair or maybe having to buy a new car. So I did a little research and found Aaron at SubieSmith. Aaron said that his apples to apples estimate was going to come in at around $1400 after taxes and I said go for it! He pointed out some other work that could be done since the engine was already out and that made great sense to me so I gave him the go ahead and for another $800 (looking up average costs on the internet - the fixes totaled between $4k and $7K) got these fixes handled as well!!! Beyond the cost, Aaron is great at communication, keeping you updated via email and/or phone and explaining the what and why behind the repairs. I can not give a higher endorsement - Thanks Aaron! read more

Me: 15yrs mechanic 1984-1999, 5 auto center manager, Business owner for another 20yrs. I know and understand customer service! I emailed SubieSmith with what I wanted done to my 2007 Ridgeline and he sent me a quote. After delivering the truck Aaron inspected the truck and made recommendations where to better spend the money to have a better truck in return. Aaron communicated with me ALL the way through doing the work. These days it is IMPOSSIBLE to find anyone to deliver the kind of customer service as Aaron did for me. He will be my mechanic moving forward and we will be taking him our fleet vehicles in the near future. Thank you Aaron! read more

Aaron is the best. I am from out of town and needed work on my Subie. Aaron spent time going over my car completely with me. Wish I lived in Denver as his honesty and skill are seriously hard to find. The best service I have in a very long time. read more

This is the place to go if you need a repair on your Subaru. Aaron and his mechanics are thorough, honest, transparent and do fantastic work. Their inspections are thorough and they include you in the inspections and explain things in a way that makes sense. I've had a lot of issues with mechanics in the past doing sketchy work and overcharging, but Aaron is breaking down those barriers and is providing a totally different experience. They replaced a radiator, water pump and timing belt and used real Subaru parts and held in to my old parts to show me the wear and issues with said parts. They also did a late last minute spark plug and wires change to my wife's outback and were very thorough and offered to let her watch them do the repair. Once again, these guys are bringing honesty, quality and transparency back to car repair in a city saturated with crappy mechanics. This is much appreciated and I will be bringing my Subaru's in for any repairs I need in the future. Thanks Aaron and staff! read more
