Mechanic recommended fixes for the long road trip, we had them completed and picked up the car with seemingly no issues. We were slated to leave the next morning at 5am, so we woke up at 3am to get ready and take the dog out on a walk, where we discovered the splash guard hanging completely on the ground underneath the car (first image + video below). So we had to delay our trip out by 2 hours just to bring it back in. Told them my frustrations with having our travel delayed, and wasn't really met with any sort of apology / compensation. Finally get back out on the road, and when we arrive at our destination the next morning, we noticed a scraping noise when hitting some low bumps. Looked under the car and see that part of the guard underneath is held together with a zip tie! (Second image + video) Absolutely insane work. Completely disgusted with the shoddy work and the lack of attention + care.

As a WOMAN who KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT CARS, this was my worst literal NIGHTMARE…read more I brought in my 2017 Subaru Outback (only worth about $6,000) with a clear complaint: a persistent oil/exhaust smell inside the cabin. I was told the issue was a failing head gasket and approved a $3,700 repair in good faith, trusting their expertise. Once work began, I was told there was an additional $2,300 in "necessary" repairs, bringing the total to about $6,000. I approved it, believing it would fix the issue. At no point was I told that this might not resolve my original complaint. When I picked up my car, the smell was STILL there. I brought it back in and I was told that I now needed an additional $4,000 exhaust/front pipe/gasket repair. So after spending $6,000 (the value of the entire car per multiple sources), the original issue was not fixed--and I was being asked to spend thousands more. 10K total. When I raised concerns, I was told I didn't properly distinguish between an oil smell and an exhaust smell. I am not a mechanic. It is not reasonable to expect a customer to diagnose the issue. I clearly reported a smell inside the cabin and relied on them to properly investigate and fix it. Additionally, I was then told that this can be a multi-faceted process. This would have been nice to know before I dropped $6K. I requested the diagnostic test results (ie. compression test, leak-down test, etc.) from which they used to initially diagnose the head gasket as the main problem, but I have yet to see anything. I was also charged a $140 "complimentary inspection" fee that was supposed to be credited toward repairs--but it was not removed from my bill and wouldn't have been discovered had I not taken a fine toothed comb to the invoice. On top of that, it took weeks for this to be refunded to me. In an attempt to "resolve" things, they later offered to install a USED catalytic converter--an item they had not even diagnosed as the problem in the first place--"at or below cost," which is prohibited under Colorado emissions law. When I discovered this and brought it to their attention, they immediately tried to backtrack and say that it was "actually aftermarket" and not USED. I have zero trust in this company. They will never touch my car again. I paid $6,000 trying to extend the life of my car and left with the same unresolved issue, new problems, and zero confidence in their integrity or workmanship. Proceed with extreme caution. One Pro: I now know way more about cars than I ever wished to know.

It looks good."), and I was out in 15 minutes! They even topped off my tires for free, which had gotten low during a cold blast. Stayed in my car the whole time, which is wildly helpful with a 1 year old in tow. They had a coupon online I could use too. They'll ask what you need. Get some information on you and your vehicle if you haven't been in before. You wait in the car. Pay. Roll out. The national commercials show the bottled water and window cleaning. That wasn't my experience but it was quick and easy for sure. Price is about what you would expect for a quick in and out. Maybe a tad high but all the prices and services are clearly marked online. They do have coupons so maybe peep and save yourself $10-25. Doesn't hurt. I don't think this would be a regular occurrence for me but if you've somehow forgotten to get your oil changed or only have 20-45 minutes between appointments this is definitely a strong contender.

They dropped me off and picked me up with no hassles and it was a good conversation, too. I felt like they really cared about the quality of their work and cars in general. I would be remiss to skip over the coffee! I tried a latte while I was there and I was impressed. The flavor was just perfect, showcasing the quality of the roast. I have not been so impressed with other standalone coffee shops, so I'm considering going back just for the coffee, lol.

After just having had my 60,000 mile servicing performed, during the last 250 miles of a one day, over 13 hour drive from AZ to Denver my Subaru began misfiring badly. Given that it was late on a Friday evening, I was completely new to the area and I desperately needed the use of my vehicle, Saturday morning I began searching online for a local Subaru dealership. There were none very near to my location and service departments were closed on the weekend. However, I kept seeing a recurring business, SubieSmith, with very good reviews, within 6 miles of my location, open M-F, 8-5. I viewed the SubieSmith website and was quite impressed. I completed the contact form online and was shocked when my phone rang within the hour! It was Aaron, the owner, who said he tries to return calls as soon as possible...even on the weekend. After describing my issues Aaron told me to bring my car in first thing Monday morning. Just two miles away from his service shop my "check engine" light came on. I will freely admit that I was an emotional wreck by the time I arrived. Aaron put me at ease and went to work to determine what might be wrong. Within a few short minutes he had narrowed it down, explained in detail what he was going to need to do and that it was going to take most of the day, perhaps overnight. He also outlined the costs, which were very reasonable. AND since I had no way to get home, he arranged a car service. At 4:10 that afternoon my car was ready. In settling my bill I saw that I was not charged for the ride home that morning. When bringing it to Aaron's attention he waived it off and simply asked that if I was happy with his service to share it with others. My car is running great and I couldn't be more pleased. This place is made of awesome. When our quest to aquire a human transportation vessel was finally able to barter many special things such as blades, power crystals & the nectar of the last surviving telrossa plant for a fine vessel that could transport our younglings to the far sea, it had a lighting device activated indicating it was in need of a part called a knock sensor. After some difficulty we aquired the item, but possessed neither the knowledge, tools implements or size to replace it. So Deltotolia, the wisest and most learned of our kind told our chief to seek help at this mythical place. Our kind, the underdwellers, are of small stature but by three of us climbing atop each other and wearing a trencoat & hat we successfully got one of the humans from inside to come examine the device. He was intelligent and kind, Offered to help us on our quest. He took into a large building where many strange noises were heard, and a few minutes later returned it to us completely repaired and ready for the sacred transportation! There was much rejoicing. And he refused payment of any kind. Said our sacred word "Vaginellatoof" a blessing of the ancients for unbeknownst to us he was a secret Ally of our people! We forced him to take all the sweetbreads and naga fruits we had. Said our sacred blessing and parting words "bless you and later days better lays." We are now loading our younglings for the voyage. I usually avoid car shops like the plague. However, I was unable to figure out the problems my Subaru was having. I chose SubieSmith based on the excellent reviews I read online. Let's just say that the experience I had was even more than what I expected. Aaron and his team immediately started working on my car when I brought it in, simply because they happened to have a short break in their day. They even invited me back into the shop to watch as they worked on my car. They ended up needing to keep my car for a few days while they figured things out and waited on parts, which I was totally ok with. I could tell that Aaron and his team have a passion for Subaru repair and determination to figure out problems. Not only did they solve my vanishing coolant issue, they really lived up to their reviews. Aaron kept me informed via text every step of the way during the repair process and immediately let me know of any changes. In the end, I was not startled by the price on the receipt like I usually am when I take my car into a shop. Though I don't visit car shops often, I will definitely be returning to SubieSmith for anything in the future. Aaron at SubieSmith was just about as professional and organized as it gets! Aaron's shop is detailed and organized and his work his very high quality. His prices are straight forward and there's a no-stone-unturned approach when it comes to his communication with what is going on with your car. My 2008 Impreza was overdue for a timing belt, water pump, tensioner etc etc. Luckily I procrastinated enough to the point where my clutch was starting to make a little whining noise, when applying the throttle. When it comes to this issue, and my car, I am not a put-it-off kind of guy, so I had him take a look. With 30% clutch left (est) and a failing clutch spring I said hey lets just get it done! Aaron's service was expedient and professional. He's not just some guy to works on Subarus. Its his life and he'll help you with yours at fair and honest price! I HIGHLY recommend SubieSmith to every Subaru owner I know! Getting my car serviced used to be an intimidating process for me as I know very little about how cars operate; I used to worry that I was being sold things that my car didn't need. All that changed when I moved to Denver and found SubieSmith. The staff explains the car in as much detail as each costumer wants and has a very simple green, yellow, red system that they use show you what service your car needs. One time, I accidentally fell way behind on my oil change (like, WAY behind). Over the phone, they talked me through how to check my oil level and offered to top off the oil that day before I could get a oil change (and my 90K service scheduled). Another time, I hit my side mirror pulling out of the garage, and Buddy talked me through the most affordable way to get new parts and changed my side mirror for free. This place is awesome, would highly recommend. As someone who doesn't know a lot about cars, I appreciate how the mechanics take the time to explain what is going on in terms I can understand. I initially brought my '04 Forester in a year ago and Aaron spent 45 min with me going through a full checklist while showing/explaining what symptoms to look out for. They provided an emailed list of recommended repairs with level of severity and were honest about which ones were actually necessary. A few weeks ago, they again did a full inspection in preparation for my drive to move to Arizona and eventually replaced spark plugs/wires. Upon having engine troubles on the road, Reid spoke to me several different times over the phone and was able to accurately assess the problem and advise me on next steps. Aaron did great work on my 2010 Subaru Outback and for an excellent value! Head gaskets replaced and resurfaced, and timing belt components replaced. Roughly half the price Subaru and other shops quoted me for the work. I also ended up choosing to have Aaron do a bunch of other smaller related stuff once the engine was out to get ahead of needing future more expensive repairs (labor!). Aaron's a very nice, honest, and patient guy. I asked lots of questions about the quality of parts and he gave me a full list of the premium pieces he'd be using on my car. Full transparency here. He explained everything to me at each step of the diagnostic and took time to present all available options once the engine was out and he could see all the related issues. I recently bought a used 2005 Subaru Outback XT from a reputable dealership. The car has had some issues. I had some problems with the dealership's service center, so I felt like I wanted to move on and find someone I could trust. Aaron at SubieSmith is just that guy! Aaron was absolutely excellent! I needed new head gaskets and a few other touch ups on my subaru outback. He broke it down for me piece by piece so that I understood exactly what was going on with my subaru, which was very helpful since I don't know anything about cars. He also stayed within my budget, which no other mechanic was willing to even offer me. Aaron provided hands down one of the top experiences I've ever had dealing with an auto repair. I reached out to him via a craigslist post and he got back to me very prompt with some ballparks on price. He then came to our house to diagnose and confirm our suspected headgasket problem. We dropped the car off and he had it fixed in two days. Less time than any other shops we talked to. I cannot believe how awesome my experience with SubieSmith was. I had a weird noise in my Impreza which turned out to be the head gasket along with numerous other issues. They were professional, efficient and honest with me about what needed to be done. The entire process took less than a week and their team gave me clear instructions and followed up with me after I picked up my car. They've mastered the client experience on so many levels, making it easy to start a repair, understand what's wrong with your vehicle, pick it up after hours, and even pay your bill online. Can't recommend them enough! My only caution is that the first visit takes a bit of time because they will take you under the hood. I came to Aaron at SubieSmith with an '06 Forester that had to have head gaskets done. After calling around to compare estimates, Aaron was half of the price of every shop. After the work was started, I was invited to tour my disassembled engine in the shop and ask questions. The final bill was a bit more than the original estimate due to some things that didn't have to get replaced, but elected to have replaced since they were due soon and it was cheaper to replace them when the engine was out. Went in and met Aaron today for my 01 Outback h6 for a coolant smell and a front end leak, just like all the reviews he is a really nice guy and know his stuff, he looked at my car and tightened a few loose screws and checked over the engine, to my surprise everything was fine, I was told that my car needed new bushings 2 weeks ago by another mechanic, Aaron told me they were fine and he never has to change that part, all in all Aaron is a honest person and that is what we all need when we take our car to a mechanic. read more
