A few friends and I stopped by yesterday evening around 7:30pm to get a sweet treat! It's a cute little spot on S Highland Ave with only a few small tables meant for 2-3 people so it's not great for big groups. There were only two people working there to make our ice cream so it took a little longer though to be fair they were making our ice cream in front of us. Our ice cream was pretty good and it's great that since they make it they have a pretty big variety of flavors to choose from!

Watching them make the ice cream was really cool, and I loved all the options and ways to customize. The ice cream itself was really good! The only downside was that my waffle bowl was stale, which was a little disappointing--but overall still a fun and tasty treat.

Really cool, fun concept. And, it's not just a great idea, it's also well executed. Their ice cream is very tasty. The place has a great diversity of options to choose from (tons of flavors, and options like custard, ice cream, low fat, etc). I tried the custard with 2 flavors: dulce de leche and peanut butter. One thing to keep in mind is when they say select flavors, and you select multiple, they will likely mix the flavors together. I thought it was going to be one scoop peanut butter and one scoop dulce de leche. But, I got a hybrid ice cream (create your own). Although it sounds kind of strange, it was actually delicious. The peanut butter isn't too intense. The dulce de leche is sweet, with light almost cinnamon undertones. The custard texture is perfect, and quite creamy. All in all, a great spot to get ice cream. I bet this place is packed in the summer. Recommend it for the experience and the flavor!

Sub Zero is a fun concept, so if you're looking for a fun dessert experience, it's worth checking out. The ice cream at Sub Zero is - surprise surprise - made by by liquid nitrogen. So they start with the liquid ice cream base and then make it into ice cream right in front of you by pouring liquid nitrogen into the bowl. The menu has a lot of options - too many for me! But they have some menu options so that you aren't forced to create your own! We did a menu option that was called something cookie dough something, I think. The ice cream itself is fine, average, I would say. You're probably here for the show. Kids who were at Sub Zero were definitely into the liquid nitrogen show! Overall, decent ice and a fun presentation. Order items off the menu rather than creating your own if you get anxiety from a huge menu like I do!

So many food items can be customized and made to order these days - now that list includes ice cream. And no freezers and pints of ice cream are needed here. Sub Zero takes your order, flash freezes your ice cream with liquid nitrogen, and puts the finishing touches on your masterpiece before presenting you with your dream order. Not only is the production fun to watch for all ages, but the final product is really good. Apparently the process avoids the ice crystals that tend to gather in our own freezers, so the result is creamy and smooth ice cream. Also, when reading up on the business I learned that Sub Zero has options for gluten-free, vegan, sugar-free, and lactose-free diners. Just a heads up for your first visit: the menu is pretty big and comprehensive, so you could get lost among the list of choices. Also, since they're making your dessert to-order, this isn't a "grab and go" establishment. Just be aware of that and you'll be a happy, Sub Zero ice cream loving camper!

Friendly staff and delicious ice cream! I chose the Tiger's Blood cause it sounded really unique. It's basically coconut, strawberry and cherry flavor. The options were endless. Worth checking out! Can't wait to come back for their nitro breath next time!

What a fun spot!! I can't wait to go back already! You start with a dry erase board where you circle all of your choices (you can pick more than one flavor and they mix it all together to create your own concoction!) then they make the ice cream right in front of you with their nitrogen! It's such a fun experience and the 2 staff that were working the counter were super friendly and helpful. Not to mention I LOVED my ice cream! I mixed rootbeer and cake batter, something that shouldn't work, but it soooo did! I look forward to my next masterpiece!

This ice cream shop was so cute and fun! My boyfriend and I stopped by the other night intrigued by the "nitrogen ice cream". We were greeted by Connor who was very friendly and knowledgeable. I told him we had never been there before, and he gave us the full run down. You circle on a sheet all the toppings you want mixed in to your ice cream and then they make it fresh. It was overwhelming looking at all the options, but I loved that they had a dairy free option. After looking at other people's huge bowls of ice cream filled with lots of toppings, I realized I picked pretty basic options. I didn't care - it was exactly what I wanted. I picked the dairy free base with coconut flavoring, coconut flakes, and oreos. Connor pumped the base into a bowl. I was nervous at first thinking it was all coconut flavoring and that it would be way too sweet. It was a dairy free milk that he was pouring in the bowl. He then added the toppings and poured in the nitrogen. It was really fun to watch and he explained the whole thing thoroughly. He stirred it up and boom - it turned to ice cream. It wasn't super creamy like real ice cream, but tasted more like the cream ice from Rita's. It was delicious, but don't expect the dairy free to be heavy and creamy like real ice cream. My boyfriend did get real ice cream with marshmallow, chocolate, and graham crackers. It was so good and really fluffed up! The price was reasonable and it was a fun experience. Connor really made the experience special. He was the best! We will definitely stop back again!

We have been wanting to visit this place and we finally made the trip! It was everything we expected it to be! Very cool to see how they make the ice cream and what I love is that they have lactose free ice cream! You can build your own or order any one of their signature ice cream waffle bowls. So many flavors and deliciousness all in one bowl, we can't wait to visit again!

Wow wow wow!!! Yes, this place is super cool and it's so fun to watch your ice cream being made but it's also SO GOOD. Highly recommend the banana cream and peanut butter bond. I no longer want ice cream cakes for my birthday. I want an ice cream pie from sub zero!

This place is so great. My boyfriend and I went to Millies before this and got some not so great ice cream we couldn't even finish. Still craving ice cream we stopped in here and let me tell you it was the best ice cream experience I've had. The staff there were extremely friendly taking out the time to explain the menu to us and letting us sample whatever we wanted. We told them about our less than great experience at the ice cream shop down the road and they instantly offered us a version of there own that was a million times better. I highly recommend the banana pie ice cream we had. I also got a chance to sample the dragons breath ice cream and it was amazing so I ended up getting that to! Seriously if you're in shady side area and looking for ice cream give this place a shot. I promise you won't regret it!

It's cool to see them mix the liquid ingredients and then use the nitrogen to freeze into ice cream! So many options if you want to create your own. They have some seating inside, but we like to take it to go and walk around shady side.
