Like everyone else I was quite enthralled by it as they prepared the ice cream ingredients and then froze them into ice cream using liquid nitrogen. I had their chocolate brownie flavor and really liked it. Not too long after eating it I Googled for it and they had a location in Federal Way. This past weekend we went up and Steve tried it for the first time. He got kind of a berry flavor which was good but a little too involved for me. So I got a cinnamon flavored ice cream with graham cracker blended into it. It was absolutely wonderful! They have so many choices of flavors, type of available creams (I chose sugar-free and DH chose yogurt), and how solid you desire your ice cream (soft serve, regular, or REALLY frozen!) This place is somewhere you'd go once for the novelty. Liquid nitrogen ice cream is nothing new, but I was excited to hear that we could experience it not too far from Seattle. I was dropping off my sister in law and decided to swing by here for a late night snack. Let's break it down to the pros and cons. Pros: Lots of base flavors (ranging from custard, milk, lactose free, almond milk, etc), lots of toppings to choose from too (the first topping is free, additional toppings cost 50 cents extra, you can customize how cold you want your ice cream. Your order of ice cream is customized to your liking and made to order Cons: They use the same cup (yes-singular=the same damn cup) to measure out all the bases (ie: mixing dairy with non dairy bases)-when I asked the employee to wash out the measuring cup before pouring my base he responded with "oh we use different bowls for each customer, so you can't cross contaminate dairy and non-dairy"-excuse me, but you cross contaminate by pouring my non dairy lactose free base by pouring it into the same unwashed cup that you measured out my sister in law's custard base.... This is a serious health violation and can be potentially deadly for lactose intolerant people or people with nut allergies. If the employees don't wash the measuring cups, they probably don't wash the measuring spoons either... Service here is nothing to be amazed with, if anything this is the chipotle of ice cream, without any real ingredients. We ended up getting the pistachio and the citric substance, but I wasn't impressed with either of them. The ice cream itself here is nothing remarkable, it's all syrup so it's terribly sweet. The almonds that I had in my pistachio ice cream tasted oily-a sign of old almonds. I threw mine away after eating about 1/4 of it because it just wasn't that great. First day of the year of 2014 and I felt like a kid again! A day before I turn 22 and it was most rejuvenating to have the sensational excitement as a 5 year old. We were looking on Yelp to find a dessert place that would still be open at 10 pm on New Years night. There was a place called Sub-Zero that was "supposedly" opened till 11. I know that Yelp doesn't always have the right Holiday hours nor changed hours. We parked right up front, excited to get our teeth tooth satisfied, only to find out that they were closing (more liked closed). However the kind girl working to close up the shop attended to our. Eeds and decided to make one more round for us before she closed. Of course we tipped her good C: for her kind services. So I have heard about the whole ordeal on making ice cream with Nitro- something but did not know this place was going to be my first experiencd to watch. We got to choose a flavor (pineapple, coconut I think) and toppings but I did not want any. Then you choose a temperature "Chill Factor": Teeth Tingler, Numb Tongue, or Brain Freeze. I chose the middle one to be safe, Numb Tongue. My friend ordered the Teeth Tingler which wasn't that great since it melted quicker. Numb Tongue is a great way to keep it not too rock-hard nor mushy. Of course the way it is made cannot much be described as how it looks in ral life but let's just say, the girl's hands disappeared in a cloud of white smoke and returned from liquids in the bowl to a hardened solid chunk of ice cream. So interesting. I felt like a kid being given candy for the first time. I love sights like these more than if I were to go to the Grand Canyons to "sight-see". I want to go again! So that took even longer. My anxiety was through the roof because there was already such a long line. I asked for a cone they didn't give me one and didn't notice until I sat down with my kids. When I went back up she didn't look back at the charge just said she didn't charge me for it so I had to buy another one. The dragons breath are 4.49 and supposed to be cereal bites that have the smoke in them so when you eat them, it comes out of your mouth and nose like a dragon. It comes with a large cup full so I thought it was a great deal until my kids only ate 1/4 of the cup and then the rest of them didn't have any smoke left so just 4.49 for like 10 small cereal balls. I have 3 kids so it was annoying that not all of them got the smoke experience. I don't think it's overpriced compared to others but it's not worth the money. Any money really.
