I have driven past this place for years and finally starting to patronize them. I should have started that a long time ago. The serving size is great and is a good deal for the amount of food that you receive. Today I ordered an 11" chicken torpedo (philly). Lot's of meat and it was very filling even after I gave my wife half of it. Today's visit was soon after Kemp ended the lock down but still had restrictions. This place followed all of them. This was a great find. I am from the northeast (US, not TX), and have been known to drive over 100 miles for a great cheesesteak, rather than drive 2 for a mediocre one. I li ed in Northeast PA for 15 or so years, so I've had the best (and worst) "Philly" cheesesteaks there are. I was craving a philly cheesesteak so I got on Google and searched for "philly cheesesteaks near me" and saw that this place was very close to where I was, so I gave it a try. And I am so glad I did!! I tried the bulgogi philly cheesesteak and fries and they were delicious. I loved the bread they use on the philly, and all of the ingredients they used tasted fresh. The crinkle cut fries were perfectly crisp and seasoned. It was so good that I was craving it again the next day. Honestly, i only went here because this place was rated so highly on yelp. What a disappointment! I got a Reuben here and my friend got the Hawaiian sub. The reuben was a medium size and cut into 1/2's. It contained 2 pieces of meat, sauerkraut piled really high, couldn't really see the cheese (yes i opened the sub), the thousand island must've been watered down because the sandwich was leaking the watery dressing. Also the proportions of bread to meat to sauerkraut was way off. The sandwich was mostly bread and sauerkraut, with 2 slices of corned beef and invisible swiss cheese. My friend didn't like her sandwich either. I actually felt ashamed, because i was raving about this place before i even ate there. Ooh it's gotta be good because it's rated highly on yelp LOL. Another thing that was weird, they didn't have prices on their wall menu, only had catering prices, WTF? Needless to say i won't be thinking of this place when i crave a sandwich/sub. This place gets my 5 star stamp of approval. Great sandwich and friendly staff. When first entering it's not the most fabulous looking decor but you're greeted by a friendly employee and the food completely overshadows the rest. They have a wide array of traditional subs as well as specialty subs and wings and chicken fingers. As well as a seafood section of fish sandwiches, shrimp and fish and chips. Pretty cool menu that I was told changes as they come up with new subs. At the employees recommendation I went with one of the specialty subs called the U-boat which, really hit the spot. Combination sausage fresh peppers and onions on a fresh tasty hoagie and a sauce that I can only describe as the perfect complement to an awesome sub. You can tell that unlike other spots that have pre-prepared onion and peppers that this place takes pride in the stuff they serve. What can I say, I love this place. Being that I'm a hop away and can get there in a heartbeat, really makes me like this place even more. I'm a fan of their bbq chicken wings, and sub sandwiches. Sandwiches are super fresh and tasty, wings are good. I'm not the hugest fan of their hot wings just yet b/c I was hoping they had more of a true authentic buffalo wings which I crave pretty often, but their bbq wings do the job. They run a special on their wings on Tuesdays which is a cool happy hour. The only downside I can think of for this operation is that they close a bit early and don't open Sundays when I might have a serious craving for sub of subs. It's understandable however, since they are family owned and operated and even families need rest.. sometimes. Being that this small mama-pop shop is family owned and operated is refreshing to know for me, since I'm all about local businesses and support them whenever I can. This place is worth every star! I asked for something filling and the German U-boat sausage sub fit the bill. It has ots of meat, cheese, veggies and a sweet, spicy sauce. The bread is soft and tasty and the subs are well wrapped, piping hot and cut in half. The salad is made of mixed greens (not iceberg), tomato and cucumber. They even have balsamic vinegar! The prices are so low that you don't need a Scoutmob and the service is fast and friendly. It easily beats any fast food sub and the Publix deli dept. Unless you're sharing, a half sub is plenty. I ordered a lamb salad which was essentially a gyro salad. Word up to my peeps that know gyro off the spit meat (this is not that). This is sliced meat from a box that is grilled on a flat top. The salad was fresh with fresh cut cucumbers, thin slices red onion and tomato. I asked for a vinaigrette and got a container of pure balsamic vinegar blech. I ventured back for a second try convinced that the ginormous menu had to have a hidden gem lurking somewhere for me snd I was right!! Eureka!! The grilled chicken salad is incredible. A generous portion of marinated and flat top grilled chicken breast is placed on a large, fresh portion of field greens, tomato, cukes and red onion. Ive been adding provolone cheese as an extra topping and its probably the best fast food salad I've ever had. Also, they finally got the oil and vinegar dressing right and its the perfect light accoutrement. I've now ordered this at least four times and it is consistently fabulous! read more

This is one of the best subs shops in Georgia! All subs are made right in front of you with whatever toppings you'd like on it. You can even trade out a specific meat or customize it without additional cost (That's pretty awesome!). I've had the Chicken Philly, Turkey Reuben (exchanged the Turkey for Chicken), and a Gyro sub (exchanged the Gyro meat for Chicken). They were all fantastic! Love me some Sub of Subs! I initially came because of the location but continue coming because the prices are really affordable and I love the flavor. I like their chicken and beef torpedos a lot and usually get those on a regular basis. I recently tried their German U-boat with smoked sausage and will probably get that a few more times till I venture into other items on the menu. This location is pretty small and gets really packed Fridays around lunch time! I didn't mind waiting in a line that went out the door or sitting to wait for my food to come out among other customers, and one of the employees apologized to me for the wait when I wasn't expecting one. Sub of Subs is my new favorite sub restaurant. They have basically any kind of hot or cold sandwich. The steak torpedo is where it's at, though. It's the better version of the Philly cheesesteak from Publix. The medium size is more than enough. The large is a foot long. Also, crinkle fries! This place is essentially the sub version of American Deli which is like three blocks away. It's always busy during lunch so call your order in advance. Not really a sit down restaurant. I have been to Sub of Subs twice for lunch. It is a little place where you can get a take out or quick sit down lunch. My husband and I met up here for lunch both times. I ordered the U boat and he ordered the Hawaiian. Both are from the hot sub menu. The U boat is saucy, flavorful and just delicious! I wanted to try the Torpex the second time but the U Boat was just so good the first time that I had to get it again. The Hawaiian was decent. I felt like the chicken was a bit too chewy, rubbery for me, but my husband liked it enough to get it again the second time too. The Hawaiian is more of a lighter flavored sub than the U Boat. I would like to go back and try the popular Torpex sub if I can kee myself from ordering the U Boat again haha. And I have to add a comment about the fries. They are simple crinkle fries, but for some reason they are like crack! Just fried perfectly, hot, and tasty. Can't help but order a small as a side too. read more

From out of town and here for training. Had this place recommended by the folks that trained me and I'm glad I listened. The torpedo sub is one of the best subs I've gotten from a sub place. Prices are great for the amount you get. The staff is very friendly and great at what they do. I definitely recommend coming here. A little delayed for my review but this was one of my favorite spots when I worked in Duluth. Sub of Subs is a small mom and pop shop close to where I worked. Even during busy lunch hours, they seem to be able to get my food out in a timely manner. Which is perfect if your boss is keeping tabs on your lunch hours... The first time I visited I ordered the Signature Torpedo with 5 wings and a drink. It was pretty much a Philly Cheesesteak but this one I enjoyed quite a bit. It was well seasoned and piping hot. For under $10 dollars you get a good amount of food. The second time I visited I had the Land Lovers which was a hot roast beef sandwich and wings again, which came out just as satisfying. My only complaints would be that the wings were on the small side and the few times I visited the soda machine was out of my favorite sodas (should drink less soda anyways). I'll definitely be visiting again when I find myself looking for a quick lunch in Duluth. read more

It is located in a small shopping center off of Duluth Hwy but parking is plentiful. The restaurant was empty besides the workers as they were going to be closing within the hour. I ordered the SOS Sampler. It comes with 7" Sub, small fry, 6 Wings, and a fountain drink for 12 bucks. The sandwich is meaty and a healthy portion. I've seen this place near my job for quite a while now but never visited because I assumed it would be dirty just like most of the other restaurants in this area. However one day I decided to check their health score and saw that its was 100 so I gave it a shot one day. Long story short, I visit this place on average 2 -3 times a week for lunch. Although some meals I didn't really like, overall I've been satisfied with the food here. Staff is nice and everything is made when you order. Food isn't sitting around in the open all day like another famous sub shop, at least that's the case for their hot subs. Prices are reasonable too and portion sizes for their smallest subs are adequate to satisfy my hunger around lunch time. I recommend giving this place a shot, you might just get hooked! read more

This is one of those places that, when I realized I hadn't reviewed it, I was kinda shocked, because this is one of the better sandwich/sub shops i've had. Kinda tucked away in a small corner strip, scoutmob got me here with a 50% off deal, so I gave their German U-boat a try. I'm not even a sausage fan, but the things they do with the smoked sausage, along with their onions, pepper, mushrooms and melted cheese makes everything right in your day. I've come back three more times since my first visit and got the same sub...it's that tasty! If you get the large sub of any kind, it's a meal that will stick with you the rest of the day. I'm always on the hunt for amazing fries, and i'm sure a lot of purists will scoff because they don't cut their own fries, but every time i've ordered a side of them, they've been hot, fresh, not drenched in grease, but very tasty. I definitely think the star of sub of subs are their subs, but during my last visit I got an order of lemon pepper wings. Admittedly, they were a little small to me, but they did burst with flavor, and I enjoyed them They can and do get busy around lunch time, especially with call in orders, so keep that in mind, but don't let it stop you from coming to see them. It's not a very big place but there are a few tables and booths that seat groups of two or four. Just a quick follow up since it has been awhile since i visited this establishment. Visit: Today. Update: Wait, Wait, Yep! Still the best damn sammich in Gwinnett or Georgia for that matter! Where else are you going to go and get a large sub at $4.99!?! Where? Yeah! you can get a $5.00 footlong at Subway, but the meat count is slow low a gnat could not even fart after completing it! Even Kroger and Publix Boar Head subs are $5.39 and up for a 6". SOS is different, get a medium, which is actually a large, heck huge for that matter. You can even get fries if you don't want chips. They have wings there too. This is just great place that I prop when I get a chance. Independent, family owned, hard workers, and wonderful personalities. This place is one of the more underrated eateries around Duluth. Well, it's one of those places where you'll pass by thinking it's just another sandwich shop with mediocre food and undeserving prices. I'll tell you otherwise. I first started coming because on Tuesdays they have buy one get one free order of wings. I'll usually order 8 wings and then get another 8 for free with lemon pepper, or hot. Their wings are quite delicious with that crunch on the outside and tender meat on the inside. Their other flavors such as teriyaki and garlic are really flavorful as well. Not the best wings, but they're good. Their wings are about medium sized so you'll definitely be full with a side of fries. One of their employees allowed us to sample his own little sauce he likes to make which includes hot sauce, lemon pepper and teriyaki sauce and I've been hooked ever since. I like to call it the awesome sauce. Their Torpex (think Quizno's Torpedo's, but better IMO), is ridiculously good. If I'm not getting wings, I'm getting their chicken Torpex. The chicken is fried on the grill along with some sauce and onions and is served on some soft bread. They don't have a big selection of bread, but they make for good sandwiches. Even though the chicken Torpex is a hot sandwich I like to add additional toppings like banana peppers, black olives, etc. and it's just a hearty meal. They have other sandwiches I have tried and they were all pleasantly tasteful. They have one that's like a fruit salad with grapes and it's really a delicious sandwich--called Chicken of the Sea. Their fries are the thick cut fries you see at most independent restaurants, but they're not soggy nor too crunchy, and actually, if you like, you can ask them to make it more crispy for you! It can get pretty warm in there during the summer as their AC is located all the way in the back of the hall, but don't let that stop from checking this out if not once. Also, they do have some "irregular" hours as they open from 10-5 on weekdays and close on weekends. But business must be good if they are able to do those hours. read more
