My particular favorite subs are the Reuben Periscope and Golden Sub, but every Saturday of college football I get the wings, which are the best around here hands down. Finally stopped in on a Friday at lunchtime. This is a hole in the wall type place so dining in isn't necessarily ideal but there were a lot of people waiting for food which is always a good sign. I ordered a large Italian and a ham and provolone and both were very good. They have a nice bread with a slight crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. The meat to bread ratio was a little low but still really good. Everyone that worked there was very nice as well. Next time I'm going for the wings because they must have sold 500 wings in the 20 minutes I was there. Overall, very solid spot for subs and definitely a step up from your average chain. read more

Customer service was good but my sandwich didnt stay down and it wasnt that good either; I ordered a cheesesteak. I will not be returning and I dont recommend. Idk what kinda meat theyre using or what but my meal was a complete waste of money bc their subs aren't cheap. Very disappointed. They need to stop calling themselves the best sub shop in Duluth. I came upon this place when I was searching yelp for a place that delivers. It was a cold day, so I felt like it was a take out type of day. They have hot subs, cold subs, wings, fries, cole slaw and a few other things. I ordered on a Tuesday, so they were running a promotion of BOGO wings! I ordered 8 wings and got 16 instead. Their wings were perfectly fine. They were crunchy and the right size for me. I tried lemon pepper, and it had the perfect lemon pepper taste and seasoning. I also tried their German U-boat hot sub. Oh man it was so good! The bread was soft but not soggy from the toppings. The sausage had a hint of spicy. It also came with mushrooms, onions, bell peppers and melted cheese. Even though we ordered for delivery, the subs still tasted great! The only downside was the fries. They were just normal crinkle fries that were sort of bland and not good for delivery, but everything else made up for it. We ordered around noon, so the wait was a little longer, about an hour to an hour and a half delivery time. I believe they delivered within an hour or a little over. I love this place! I'm an asian who loves his spicy foods and their hot wings are one of the best I've ever had~ Spicy and tangy wings with those crispy fresh french fries... I order the same thing almost every time. Their other flavor wings are good too- my lover likes their lemon pepper wings. I've had their hot sandwiches too- delicious! Considering they are all made to order right before your eyes, their service time is fast. And I even asked about the bread- they get fresh baked bread every morning! The staff is very friendly and polite. Even when they're busy, they will ask how you're doing and always throw a smile at you. Good mom and pop place where sandwiches are grilled on sight by order. It's also nice that you can get fries with order instead of only chips. Only negative is credit card receipt has the tip option. Ordered the Sub & Wings. The Philly Cheese Steak was good. The mild wings were good and a nice size. Your wings do not come with any dipping sauce - instead they charge you $.50 for it which is ridiculous to me. The establishment was nothing spectacular. sub of subs is one of those places where you don't know if you should go in and check out or just keep driving. it's an unassuming little restaurant that i'm sure gets passed by a lot because there's tons of "independent sub and wing restaurants." but i'll tell you right now that if you've passed by and wondered if this place was any good, it is. and i'm not saying that sos is THE BEST sub and wing restaurant out there, but i am saying that it is worth checking out - especially on tuesdays where it's "buy one order of wings get an order free". my favorites have got to be the hot, honey bbq, and garlic - in that order. their torpex's are also really good. again, nothing really special, they just do it really well. they also made me this really good spicy sauce mixed with hot sauce, lemon pepper, and teriyaki sauce on request. i think the cons of sos would be that a couple of times i went, the celery didn't seem all that green, it was more the white part of the celery (which i'm sure if you're eating wings is very last on your priority list). also, it's a pretty small mom and pop store and i don't think they keep the ac running so it can get a little warm inside. i think the worst part of sos is the hours. only open from 10-5 and only on weekdays. but hey, if they're doing well with only being open those hours, they can take off as much time as they need. it's not good for a big group, but it's a great place for a quick lunch if you're nearby. read more

After reading the reviews I didn't know what to expect of this place however I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the chicken torpedo with a salad and it was better than expected. My friend ordered the cajun chicken gyro with a salad and they were also surprised by the taste/freshness!! We also shared an order of wings to try them out and also delicious. I must say this place is great. I went here a couple times on ScoutMob but will definitely be back for more. The subs here are different from other places. There isnt anything traditional about the subs at this place. My favorite is the German U Boat. It has spicy sausage, cheese, peppers, onions, and mushrooms. It is delicious. There is also a Chicken Torpedo? that is a bit spicy as well and it tastes amazing. My girlfriend has tried a couple other subs and she loves them all also. This is a cool little place. I have passed it many times and finally stopped. I decided to get the wings, hot flavor. They are my style of wings small and crispy with a good kick. The food is always fresh. It's def. as good as it gets in the Duluth area. I've been to several other sub restaurants in the area but the food is never as fresh and flavorful. You get options as your side instead of just chips at other places. You also get a lot for the price, which is helpful since every penny counts these days. The only downside (which can be avoided) is that it does tend to get quite busy during lunch time, but what place isn't? There is a lot of offices around there so it seems like everyone goes to Sub of Subs for lunch. I don't blame them.
