I was a bit nervous when she started cutting my hair with a razor but her skill immediately put me at ease. She really seemed to have a great sense of what style I was interested in having; what would look good with my face and lifestyle. Then she styled it and when I turned around in the chair, I felt like I was in a movie or on one of those TV shows when they get ready for the big "reveal." I looked Amazing. In talking to the owner, who cut my hair, she told me that she has trained in Paris and several large salons. I have never had the money to pay for that level of service but now I can. The next day, I ran a flat iron through my hair a couple of times and I was off to work. I have never had so many compliments. People were asking if I had lost weight...always a good thing. I waited to write this review because the real test is: "Can I wash and style my hair to look like how the professionals do it? The sign of a GREAT hair cut is that indeed you can replicate the results. I have two teens and work full time, I don't have time to futz with my hair. And amazingly enough, I was able to style it! Now I want to go back and try the other services. My two daughters also want to go too. One of my daughter's commented on how my confidence seems boosted and it is. The door was accidentally left ajar during some part of the service (gasp!). Although I was the last customer of the day and the wax room was in the far end of the salon, I was still uncomfortable with that situation. And then she got one of the waxed clothes stuck onto my clothes (ugh!). I couldn't get the wax off my clothing and had to throw that piece away. Jackie shared a lot of tips with me, answered a stream of questions I had, and sent me on my way. I got a lot of compliments on my medium size flat twists and got energized to go back again. Several visits later, I'm thrilled with the service Jackie provides. I've learned about different styles now (who knew!), gotten tips for how I can take care of and style my hair in between appointments, and gotten used to the quarterly trims that do involve taking a lot of my hair off. My hair has grown, looks healthy, and is easier to manage. I don't follow 100% of what Jackie says (after all, I'm on a budget!) and I've learned a lot about what works for me. I'm really happy and would suggest going for an extend time to really see results.

WHY WOULD YOU CANCEL someone's appointment 2 hours before it was scheduled when I was simply inquiring about the road conditions. Her lack of compassion for a situation that was completely out of my hands is what frustrates me the most. No reply back, no work around, just immediately charging someone for the full amount of the service. I would have respected her much more if we could have talked this through but she didn't even have the decency to respond. If you're thinking of booking here I highly suggest looking elsewhere. Being charged $190 for not being able to make it to her salon in the middle of a snowstorm is absolutely absurd. DO NOT BOOK WITH JACKIE! SHE HAS ZERO EMPATHY FOR HER LOYAL PAYING CUSTOMERS. I have screenshots to prove the timeframe of my communication and how quickly she charged me.

I was sick of spending time straightening and styling my hair and not ever liking the results, so for my birthday my dad offered to let me get my hair straightened professionally. I was so shocked and happy and immediately started researching a place to get my hair a Japanese straightening and came across Amys Website. I called Amy that day and asked when the next available time was for a Japanese straightening was, and she had an opening that weekend and booked me! Amy was super nice and had snacks, magazines, and tv to keep me busy as she worked on my hair. I'm not going to lie and say it didn't take a long time, for hair as curly as mine it look about 5 hours!! But I am more than happy with the results. My hair is perfectly straight and super easy to style! I was worried getting my hair chemically treated since it is thin. I thought it would burn off. But from what I can tell there was no damage whatsover and my hair feels and looks as healthy as ever. It has been 2 months and my hair is still perfectly straight. Yes her salon is out of a DADU in the back of her property, but she is working with years of expertise which is evident in the quality of her work, and the space was clean and professional. I Cannot recommend Amy highly enough!! I had been on the fence about getting Japanese hair straightening for about a year because my naturally curly hair was so frizzy and hard to manage. I spent years trying the Curly Girl Method and was fed up with the constant battle of products and styling. I had tried a keratin treatment before, which smoothed it a bit but didn't help with actually tackling the curls. So, I decided to take the plunge! Amy walked me through each step and did a strand test on my hair to confirm whether it could handle the treatment, along with explaining possible side effects. My keratin treatment from almost a year prior was obvious in the strand test -- crazy to see the damaged vs. virgin hair! She explained I was still a good candidate but might see some dryness toward the ends since it was already damaged, which I was fine with. We were able to do the full treatment the next day, and it was a very pleasant experience -- you can really tell Amy knows her stuff! I got to relax for a few hours and watch TV, and then it was done. Amy recommended some conditioning products, which I bought, and then I had to wait three days before washing or doing anything that could bend the hair. Here are my before and after photos! The "after" is after I waited the three days, washed, and blow-dried with nothing but my fingers and maybe 15 minutes of time. Then on vacation I didn't have my regular blow dryer and let it mostly air dry to see how it would feel -- still soft and shiny! I am stunned by the result! My hair feels so soft, smooth, and manageable now. If you are looking to embrace full-time straight hair, Amy is truly the best for the Japanese straightening procedure -- she has lots of experience and completely transformed my hair!!
