I brought a full laundry basket of clothes here. The staff were very nice and held the door for me. It was my first time here. I usually sell my clothes at Plato's but they recommended taking dress clothes here. I had lots of name brand and very gently worn clothes. I waited 1.5 hours and then got the text my clothes were done. They took NOTHING- they said it was bc it was youth?? Definitely not true- I had classic shirts and mostly dress pants so how are standard dress pants considered youth? The workers were middle- older women so I think this store must be for older adults. Most of the people shopping there are 50+. I won't return. Also they desperately need to update their website- it's super outdated and have like one pair of pants for 75$. read more

Style Encore is a second-hand store that sells women's clothing, shoes, and accessories. Today I shopping inside this store for the first time. I did NOT sell any of my used items to the store. When I entered the store, an employee immediately said hello to me. As I browsed the racks, I saw clothing in a variety of extra-small, small, medium, large, extra-large, and extra-extra-large sizes. Surprisingly, I had not previously heard of many of the brands. Only some brands were well-known designers or upscale stores. The prices were reasonable and frequently ranged from $10-30 per item. I chose a long-sleeved shirt from J.Jill. The store's tag was still attached to the shirt, and the regular price was $69. Style Encore's price was only $19. I waited at the cash register for several minutes before an employee rang up my purchase. She accurately charged me and thanked me. She invited me to join Style Encore's membership program (I forget the exact name of it), but I declined. read more

Selling review: I hate to say it but as a seller, I didn't feel like we were treated very well. They have some odd policies that as a new seller we were a little surprised by such as: ONLY 1 tub (or 2 Shopping bags) per FAMILY, won't take clothes a couple hours prior to close (OK, I get this one), and if they get too many "sells" in the morning, they just stop buying for the day. The manager claimed that they have an abundance of sellers and not enough staff, so, maybe this is just temporary, but I wouldn't go out of your way to bring your stuff in here if it were me. The store didn't look overly crowded to me, so, I'm not really sure what's going on with the rules. But, just wanted to pass the information along before you lug your stuff there to sell. Their store selection is OK for buying - they get another star for that - but their selling process is awful. They do 20% cash only, which is pretty dismal considering I've sold other places that do much better and offer a higher percentage for store credit. Not this place. They took 5 things of mine, including a Madewell top, Anthropologie dress and Peloton leggings and I got $26 for all. Yikes. Luckily those were mostly things I bought secondhand, but still. They give you 10% off if you sell to them that day. I bought a pair of shoes and was hesitating on a blouse. I ended up coming back a few minutes later to get it but they wouldn't honor the discount. Their website says they buy all seasons all the time. When I arrived I was informed that they were only buying summer clothing. So that was annoying but I said ok. They proceeded to look thru everything and said they would text me when they were done and it should be 20-30 minutes. My husband and I went to lunch and about an hour later I still hadn't received a text. We stopped back in to find they had finished and just didn't let me know. Then they proceeded to tell me my clothes were not current enough and that they don't buy skinny jeans. The jeans I had were straight leg and a pair of flares. More than half of my items were new with tags. They didn't even offer. It was a huge waste of my time. They need to either change their buying process or change the wording on the website. The lady was also rude and loud when telling me they don't buy "undergarments." I had new with tags sports bras. This store used to be great but not so much now. I am not sure what changed but the last couple times i tried to sell i was told no. Yesterday being the last time. It was 2:30 and they stopped buying for the day.? They are a consignment store. Thats what they do. I live 2 hours away and told them that. "Try back tomorrow". Also even though there were 3 of us, and i had 2 large bags, they said i could only bring 1 of them when i came back. Well i will not be back. So not only will the store be missing out in what i had to sell but also on the amount of money that i likely would have spent in the store yesterday and in the future. I don't sell to stores, so I can't speak on that. But this store is under new ownership within the last year or so, and the selection has greatly improved. It used to be kind of "Middle age mom", but now it's so much more contemporary clothing. Great brands, less "filler". If you haven't tried this store in awhile, go back. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. You can still get your career wear, but it will be more Nordstrom, and less JC Penney. You're welcome. read more

How do they not have cash to complete transactions? Can they not spare one employee for ten minutes to go across the street to keep their business going? Wonderful high end consignment boutique! I've bought and sold thousands of dollars worth of clothing and handbags here! I've been a devoted customer since they opened and have spoken with the owners and head buyer repeatedly. Excellent items. They don't buy or sell low quality, lower brand name items. May sound picky but I shop at LV, Burberry, Nordstrom, NM and Saks here and in NYC and if I go there I want similar brands and quality! I enjoy SE that much that I basically dont even mall shop first... I do a SE run first and can 99% of the time find what I'm looking for! Yaay! The store is always clean, smells good, easy to paruse. Yes it gets crowded but I go generally around opening. They keep the super high end items behind the counter and they are a good source for LV, Burberry and other high ends. I managed to get a pair of almost new Jimmy Choo boots a few trips ago for a quarter of what id pay at Nordstrom! Excellent...highly recommend. read more

Unlike similar consignment stores, this store is easy to navigate. I have shopped here on multiple occasions and always leave with a gem (or 2 or 3). This chain is the adult women's version of Plato's closet. People come in with laundry baskets of recognizable brands ... Coach, Jones of New York, Chicos, Ann Taylor, Michael Kors, Talbots, etc. Some items even have original tags. The sales associates reject any stained or not in good condition items. I really like the changing rooms ... lots of vertical hanging space to sort: try on, take, or nope. Casual, business, and sportswear are their focus. Lots of shoes, boots, purses, scarves, and jewelry. Once you get addicted, the frequent flyer card earns you a % off a future purchase. The return policy is reasonable. Note: Parking is awful at McCandless Crossing. The store has 2 entrances. Use the Dick's side entrance less traffic (v. the Hello Bistro or Gigi's cupcakes side). read more

I can find the exact item at TJMAXX, NWT, at half the price. I was upset that I could not return the bag I purchased due to the return policy. When they first opened, they had an amazing selection for great prices. That's not the case anymore. I have seen many items with ripped buttons, broken zippers, etc. When I went to sell items there, I could over hear staff speaking negatively about my style/items I brought in. Since then I have not returned. It would be one thing to say they aren't in need of an item but to call something trash or ugly while the customer is STILL in the store is just rude. I actually like his store a lot, however some of the employees are nicer than others. So the experience varies depending on who is working. In addition this last time I was there I found at least five items with stains on them. I mentioned it to the employees and they told me that sometimes people get stains on things while in the dressing room. As an avid thrift/consignment shopper this is not really what I am thinking is happening. I would have preferred a simple apology and a mention that they would send the comment to management or someone who would try to prevent this from happening again. I am a regular shopper and seller here and I always have a good experience! I usually have my little boy with me and the staff is great with him while I shop and always ask about him when he stays home. They have a great clearance section and prices I find to be fair regularly. A great place for someone looking for designer finds on a budget! I see a lot of people unhappy with payouts at resale shops, but I've gotten plenty of fair payouts from them. Was so excited to see the store, but was very disappointed in the treatment I received by Paul, one of the owners. I had been warned about his attitude, but it was worse than I expected. He was condescending, rude, and smug. But it wasn't personal because he spoke the same way to every customer he interacted with, in person and over the phone. They have specific protocols for selling, which is to be expected, but they don't list them on their website and if you come in without magically knowing the protocols he is snippy, rude, and curt. read more

Style Encore is okay (pretty crowded) for shopping, but has a horrible return policy. I bought two pairs of shoes and at the register, I was told by the salesman that they could be returned for store credit as long as I brought them back within a week with the tags still on them and accompanied by the receipt. After bringing the shoes home and wearing them for an hour around the house, I knew they weren't the right fit for me. I took them back and was told I could not return them for store credit-shoes count as accessories (Really!?) and it's listed on the receipt that accessories cannot be returned. I wish the store was more clear that shoes are indeed considered accessories there. Had I known that, I wouldn't have taken a chance on the shoes. *Update: The manager offered me a full refund, but I never saw her comment until after I gave the shoes away. It's nice to know they were willing to remedy a situation in which their employee misguided me. read more

I was rudely told that my stuff was out of style and they basically threw it back at me.I believe the word they were looking for was classic. I love this store and I always find something I like here. They have great prices and are always getting in great clothes from brands like J Crew, Vera Bradley, Michael Kors, Banana Republic and more! My ADULT daughter shops here frequently as she walks to work-she's disabled-doesn't drive. I've been here on a few occasions myself and have received ok service. On 4/13/19, my daughter stopped in before walking home from work. Once she picked out the items she wanted to try on, she put her cellphone in her bag. Put back the items back that she didn't want, went to the register and purchased those she did want. Remember that cellphone? Uh-huh....my DISABLED ADULT DAUGHTER was accused of shoplifting for putting her CELLPHOE in her bag. This disabled adult has TWO, yes 2. college degrees. She's a very hard worker, keeps the part-time job she's had through college because she likes the discount at another shop is this plaza. And she still finds time to volunteer on a monthly basis! They refused to let her leave the store, forced her to the management office and searched her bag and found (let's all collectively gasp) her CELLPHONE! My DISABLED ADULT DAUGHTER was so traumatized by this event she had to call off her 8 hour shift the next day. She NEVER calls off work. Nice job SE. read more

Not surprised to see other negative recent reviews on here. I've sold at this location twice in recent months and I will definitely not be back. They try to discourage you from selling by saying they're being incredibly selective and taking only designer brands, but last month they purchased a romper from me that I bought at TARGET in 2014 so yeah, pretty selective. The staff is very rude and rather slow. If they say it'll take an hour for your buy, come back in two or three. Everywhere else I've sold in the area is well under an hour. When I walked in with my laundry basket full of clothes to sell, there was a small trash bag filled with shoes in my basket. The associate, Marcia, asked me if I had sold there before and told me, "Next time, no trash bags. Presentation is everything." I thought this was uncalled for and pretentious. You are buying secondhand clothes for goodness sake! I'm not bringing you everything from my cleaned out closet in the finest bag I saved from a J Crew shopping trip three months ago. I barely had an extra laundry basket lying around to put this in. So thanks for being friendly right away, Marcia. Just days earlier I had resold clothes at Clothes Mentor in Bridgeville and an associate thanked me for keeping the shoes separate in the trash bag as to not dirty the clothes, because ya know, presentation is everything. I should have walked out on the spot! If they decided not to purchase certain items because of the container I chose to bring them in - that's ridiculous and downright rude. Everything I brought to sell was neat and folded and in ONE container, I tried to make it really easy on you, so I'm glad you appreciated that!! Style Encore is not the top of the top, even if they think and act like it . Their resale products are no better than things you'd find at Plato's or a similar boutique, no reason to be rude when people at other resale stores are so nice. Style Encore is like the girl at your high school who acts like she's better than you, but really, no one secretly wants to hang out with her because she's so pretentious. The first time I sold here they took a lot of my items, but I felt like I was underpaid for them. A similar bucket has been less full for me and gotten me twice as much as other places. I know some of it depends on quality/brand of items but I almost always make out better at Style Encore's competitors, with friendlier service. For example, a pair of Franco Sarto wedges sold in my last basket at style encore for $3. I received $7 for a pair of Steve Madden wedges in similar condition at Plato's. More than double! Style encore is almost always overstocked and their overflowing shelves mean they can't accept a lot. It sounds to me like they're having trouble selling, probably because of the terrible customer service. I waited ten minutes to pick up my buy because the women on registers were slow and chatting with each other. I waited a few extra minutes at Plato's too and was given coupons and apologies, but I waited nearly twice as long here and barely got an "I'm sorry". Ive been doing a serious closet clean out after years of working in retail and I've made out exceptionally well selling and buying at various Plato's Closet locations, Clothes Mentor in nearby Bridgeville, and a style encore location near my parents' house across the state. I visited this location first because I initially assumed I'd make out well here. But Style Encore in McCandless is just not good. I wouldn't waste time selling here and the rude staff doesn't deserve your business. The owners were delightful and talkative. They have racks and racks(of well organized) clothes with shoes along the tops and purses hung to the sides of the wall surrounding the store. I wanted to buy everything in sight! I got a brand new Nine West purse/wallet for $27, the original price tag was still on it which read $70! I have been to Style Encore multiple times to buy and sell. The store is impeccably organized, that's essentially the only consistent positive. The staff constantly appears frazzled, disorganized and seem to have technological difficulties (phone/computer use); the only helpful staff member I've encountered is the young girl Carly. She actually apologized to me more of my items weren't taken because they were high quality. The most frustrating part as a customer is the inconsistency in what they chose to take from you. I cannot understand how they pass on genuine silk blouses and brand new Zara nude heels, yet they accept Pom Pom shoes from Victoria's Secret (absolutely a free gift) and stained shirts (I passed on a white shirt I liked because it legitimately had a big red stain on it). I come here for convenience obviously, but I have been repeatedly disappointed by their buying criteria as I think it on a customer to customer basis and not about the items. I'm going to try out Poshmark from now on, avoid the middle man! read more

I had a great experience at style encore! I bought a few things and brought in a bag of clothes to sell. The stuff that I bought for myself was in good condition and reasonably priced. When it came to the things I sold, they gave me $40 for 7 items, which I felt was very fair. They also processed my items quickly. I took away one star because I saw them advertising a Nylon Burberry tote on Facebook that is available for ~200 dollars less online. After going to the store and checking out their prices though, I think that might just be a one-off and not typical. I'll definitely be back to buy and sell. read more

I have sold and purchased for Style Encore many times in the past and for the most part had a relatively positive experience, never one way or the other enough to make me post a review. I went in today (Tuesday morning at 11am) to sell 2 bags worth of items. One of my bags was an American Eagle brand, and I received a lecture from the man working who told me extensively how they don't accept brands like AE, Abercrombie, etc. I kept trying to interrupt to tell him that I was fully aware, I've sold there many times before. He told me how they cater to 24+ year olds (my age) and brands like The Loft, WHBM, etc were what sold. When I finally said, I know I assure you that nothing in this bag is from American Eagle. It's literally just a bag, he said that it shouldn't be too long and they'd send a text when it was complete. I come back an hour later to see if my buy is done, nope, still 2 people in front of me! It's 11am on a Tuesday and there was no one shopping... how does it take so long for all of these people to go through the clothes? I waited in the store only to hear the employees saying how they hated when they were pressured by people waiting to complete buys. They also were down talking a bunch of my clothes and I heard the male employee tell the others that the clothes they wanted to buy from me weren't good enough. They knew I was in the store and yet when they finished, no one said hey your buy is done I had to go up and ask. I was offered a decent amount of money for the clothes they did buy, but was shocked to see that the items I had from brands he told me they purchase (The Loft, WHBM, etc) with brand new tags on them weren't purchased? Also the sales tactics were awful, literally shoving ugly old sabika jewelry and scratched bags down my throat. He thinks he's running a Louis Vuitton boutique, yet all of the racks are filled with Forever21 clothes missing tags. Also- i waited for another hour for them to complete my purchase. Way too long for the time of day and being a week day. Only saving grace of this store is the night shift. There is a petite woman who is always incredibly sweet and actually knows brands/their values/etc. There are always younger gals there who make you feel like a valued guest, not a pest. Love Style Encore for many reasons. First of all I appreciate the amount and variety of larger and plus size styles carried. We don't have a Torrid in the North Hills so it's really nice to be able to pick up a few of their pieces without driving all the way to Robinson. Also, their employees are wonderful with knowing exactly what I am looking for without being pressured. Terra, Jenna & Katie all were helpful in helping me find a dress for my 40th birthday party. I loved the dress I wore and left with 2 others, and several other pieces as well. For being girls much younger than I, they were great with giving tips that kept me stylish but age appropriate. First off i will say everything in and the store itself have a very strong detergent smell. I can smell it on myself when I leave after being in there for 5 minutes. I purchased a purse there and literally every time I put the bag on my passenger seat in my car I could smell it so strongly. Aside from learning to never buy bags there for that reason I have still gone in there multiple times and bought and sold clothing items (since I could wash out the smell) and never had an issue. Recently I went in with items, some still new with tags, from various brands including Michael Kors, Victoria's Secret, the limited etc. An older lady told me my items "would never sell here". I took offense to that...she could have worded that differently. I am even more offended that she insinuated my stuff is so terrible considering the majority of the store is filled with old styles of Michael Kors purses that haven't been in style for years and that smell strongly of detergent....not to mention you can get any MK and Kate spade (they have a lot of that too) super cheap brand new at tjmaxx ross, mk outlet, Kate spade outlet, etc. On a positive note, I will say all of the younger girls in there have always been nice and helpful. Regardless, I won't be back and I wouldn't recommend anyone dropping a lot of money on the occasional hotter LV, Celine, Gucci etc bags they get in since you will never get the smell out read more

This was my first experience with Style Encore and it was as a seller. I brought my clothes in a clean white garbage bag. BIG MISTAKE!!! The staff will rudely tell you presentation is everything and they did not want to take my clothes. Once I started saying it was Kate spade, Michael Kors, etc. it was like tug of war. Then the clothes could stay, but I had to come back hours later for the money. Money is not paid on the spot. The staff ended up only selecting my clothing NWT stating my other clothing was pilled. I know better that much of the clothing was never worn or just once. The customer service I received was deplorable and I will just donate in the future elsewhere. I am truly upset the way I was treated by multiple staff at this store. read more
