My husband and I were fragrance shopping on December 14, 2025 while doing our Christmas shopping. While we were smelling a different brand, a female employee walked behind us and asked if we wanted to smell Dior, which was noticeably on the lower end of the price range compared to what we were already viewing. At the same time, another employee positioned an iPhone near where we were standing, which made us feel uncomfortable and singled out. We are both African American, and the behavior of the employees felt prejudiced and unnecessary. WTF Nordstrom Rack? The whole point of your store is to have stuff on sale, so when I found a shirt I liked that wasn't marked down, I figured it was an error in hanging on the rack. Similar shirts with similar prices were marked down to a much more affordable price. This one just had the MSRP sticker. I went to the checkout and the woman at the register rung it up and it came up at the list price. I asked if it was discounted and she said no. I implied that's the whole point of the store and she didn't give to seem two craps about it. No let me check on it, no let me call a manager over, no sorry about that, sir... just That's the Price! I shop at a lot of Nordstrom Racks as I travel for work. I was in the Pittsburgh location to exchange a pair of pants I bought previously for another size. A blonde woman with spikey hair kept following me and my partner and I tried to make a point to greet her and hold my receipt. When I went in to try the second pair on I offered the dressing room attendant to hold my bag but they declined. When I went to the register the blonde woman from upstairs followed and shoved between me and my partner and pretended to look at the candy. I told the cashier how rude that was and how this was harassment and she just shrugged. Just because I was a man who was in street clothes doesn't mean I'm stealing. After the interaction I was so mad I returned everything. If you have issues with shrink, then look into security. Harassing people you perceive as shop lifters due to how they are dressed is poor behavior. read more

The Rack in Pittsburgh is an anchor like Saks Off Fifth Avenue and Marshall's in The Block at Northway. The Rack is the discount store for The Nordstrom Department Store. Many of the famous names you see in the department store are available at Nordstrom Rack for 50% off or more. Some are special buys for Nordstrom Rack and some are end of the season sales sent over from the department store. The best part of shopping here is that new merchandise from the department store is highlighted and designers are identified on racks of clothing. It makes the treasure hunt easier for the shopper. I just recently discovered this store! I never went because I expected it to be like Gabe's, where you had to spend so much time digging through racks of random clothes. It is organized and reminds me of a TJ Maxx honestly. The only things I have purchased so far are shoes (3 pairs of Sorel boots) and women's shirts. The shoe selection and pricing is awesome! I got a pair of Sorel snow boots for $120 that should have been $250. I also got a pair of white platform sneakers for literally $12, that should have been $100. I don't know how they decide on the prices or how old the product they carry is, but I love a good deal! The women's clothes section is just ok, but I did find 2 great shirts for Fall. I expected the designer section to be larger since it was Nordstrom owned, but it was actually just a few small racks. It is fun to browse through this store, but the line to pay is not so fun. My boyfriend waited in line with my boots for 40 minutes on a Saturday while I browsed the clothing section. I don't know if it's always this busy on Saturdays, but it was so packed. I will never go on a weekend again. Overall this store has a good selection and great prices. read more

The rack is my jam. I love coming here. Whenever I have a work event, a date event, a life event, I think you get the point event I come to the rack. They always have great sales and they are very clean. I cannot stress enough how I hate box stores that are clearance stores that have items strewn around and you can't ever find what you need. I also hate clearance stores that have everything disorganized and if I'm looking for a certain thing I can't ever find it. The rack is not like that at all. Everything is labeled everything is nice and neat. Everything is organized you know what the price is without having to ask. I really enjoy coming here. My only problem is that their clearance is clearance and when I want something in the different size you can't always find it. So am I annoying but that's the way clearance goes. I have purchased so many things here for so many events and I've always gotten compliments on every single thing I've purchased. One time I even saw a picture of my friend who was out and said nice dress did you get that at the rack cuz I got the same one too. The clothes are good for everyone and everyone one style. If you sign up there for their emails you get emails when they're having an additional 25% or more off of their clearance. That is the way that I like to shop and those are the only emails that I requested from them. I like to know when I can get the most for my money and the best style for my money. The rack has really brought a lot to me personally and my wardrobe. I look forward to any event because that means that I get to go to the rack and check them out. I know this is an offshoot of Nordstrom but it just feels very plain in here. They didn't put any thought into the décor and it makes it feel sterile, to the point where you feel the need to be quiet while you are shopping. However, if you are not me you will not notice such things because you will be here to snag a deal of some sorts. I guess you can say that I am not your conventional shopper as I was staring at the ceiling wondering why it was so white in here. Once I distracted myself from my surroundings I finally noticed that there was merchandise to be riffled through here. I wasn't really in the mood to look for clothing but I felt drawn to the shoes. I just wanted to smell the new shoes. You know, that smell of fresh, no sweaty socks, leathery smell that makes you not care about how bad your feet will hurt in a pair of shoes, you just want it to be pretty. The discounts on these shoes were of a decent caliber as well. I felt like I wasn't going to be shelling out too much for the shoes I have wanted but was too stingy to pay for. Is this place worth a special trip: no. Would I stop here if I'm already in the area: possibly, especially once the dust settles. read more

Pittsburgh finally has a Nordstrom Rack! This two floor 40,000 square feet store just opened this past weekend at The Block Northway. A redevelopment of the former Northway Mall. My family has traveled to the Nordstrom Rack in Baltimore, Cleveland and Grand Rapids and were excited to finally get our own location in Pittsburgh. The first floor is women's and children's clothing, accessories and housewares. The second floor is men's clothing and accessories and men's, women's and children's shoes. Like most of my bargain shopping lately, I found nothing for myself but, found a ton for my teenage daughter! Uggs starting at $99, Converse All Stars, Nike Dunks and even a The North Face down winter coat to match the Uggs I also bought her. The location just opened and has a few bugs to work out like not enough shopping carts to go around and a better checkout system is sorely needed as each floor only has two employees to ring up shoppers. All in all I am very happy to have a Nordstrom Rack to complement our nearby Nordstrom Department store and will be here often! Better late than never! read more

Well it has been years since I visited a Nordstrom Rack store so my daughter and I decided to check it out. Located in the site of the former Northway mall, there will be an Off 5th Saks soon to open next door to it. Basically they have leftovers that people don't want from Nordstrom stores or some other things you normally wouldn't find in the main story. They do carry some home goods. It is basically hit or miss. You can find some good bargains as well as clearance racks. Main problem is that if you find something that you like then good luck trying to find your size. You can only take what they have. It is your traditional outlet shopping The ladies department is on the first floor. The men's, kids, and shoes are on the second floor. Both floors have small fitting rooms and there is usually a wait to get in. Nordstrom Rack does honor the same perks as Nordstrom. This weekend they are offering triple points on your purchases towards Nordstrom notes or you can redeem what you have earned towards your purchase. My daughter found a good looking coat with an inside liner and hood attached. I ended up with a pair of pjs by PJ Salvage which was less than $20.00 and a crocheted top which I can use on an Indian summer day or wait till next summer. It will be interesting once Off 5th opens since Pittsburgh has not had a Saks in years and I'm sure there will be much of the same stuff in both stores. read more

I was SO excited to have Nordstrom Rack here. After shopping at the Rack in pretty much every major city I've visited, I was well versed on the different types of stores. While I'm super happy we have one now, I'm a little underwhelmed with the space. It's a pretty small Rack compared to most of the ones I've been to. Obviously they have the standard clothes, shoes, accessory section. While the clothes and shoes are decent, their accessories section is sad times. It's very sparse and there's few selections. Their home section is even more sad times. It's literally a small corner of the store. I'll go to another Rack and have a pile of things to choose from before I check out, here I will sometimes leave without buying anything. Again, glad to have one in the Burgh, but I'd love to see their selection get better or potentially another bigger Rack to open closer to me in the South Hills! read more

I was in north hills and remembered that this store had opened. I've been waiting for this for almost a year. The store is nicely laid out. Mens kids and shoes on one floor, woman's on another. The store is bright and new. I found some great things at decent prices. It was definitely a good range of prices. My boyfriend found a fair of vans for $30. They seemed fall-like too with the colors being gray with red plaid as a top accent. Great addition to the area. Its worth a look even if you just check out the shoes and accessories. (That is where we found the best items) They also sell Fossil watches! They have adorable winter hats, scarves and adorable ear muffin headbands. Not bad. read more

Yay for Nordstrom Rack!!! I was so excited to check out this new store on Thursday evening after running errands nearby. I had been to a couple Nordstrom Racks while traveling but usually just breezed right through, never making a purchase. However, I spent a good couple hours in this store, exploring every nook and cranny of available items to purchase. For me, personally, the reason to shop at Rack are for shoes and accessories. I carefully browsed all of the women's clothing but only found three tops to try, none of which fit me well. However, the story was totally different as I shopped handbags and shoes, literally having to brace myself from spending over $1000 on my first visit. The handbag department had a number of styles from Kate Spade and Marc by Marc Jacobs available. The shoe department had a wide variety of brands including Tory Burch, Frye, Kate Spade, Nike, Kenneth Cole Reaction, Lucky Brand, Franco Sarto, etc. If I had an unlimited budget, I could have purchased 5-10 pairs of shoes, but instead only left the store with two. Unfortunately, this store only gets 4 stars from me because the customer service was terrible! I was not offered any assistance in the fitting room, and just ended up stealing an open fitting room that another customer had just abandoned. The check out customer service was also not ideal, as I could tell that my cashier was extremely annoyed with someone over the phone. I think Nordstrom has the best customer service in the business, and this low level of service was the opposite of what I expected. read more

I am a big fan of the whole remodel of the Northway Block and The Rack is a great addition to the North Hills. The shoe and purse department is amazing. I also spent some time in the women's plus size area again there are some great finds. I wish the store felt a little more high end as far as how it is laid out. I'd give ZERO stars if possible, but you get the picture. Absolutely terrible experience. My wife was treated horrendously by a store representative / manager. A blonde, short-haired girl who essentially yelled at her in that she was unable to make a return after 45 days. It's OK if that's your policy (we get it) but there was no need to berate her in public. She went on to tell us to "try the consignment shop, down the street." What adds insult to injury, I called up corporate only for them to completely forget about the complaint. Two weeks later, I called corporate (again) having to give the same complaint twice (documentation). Two hours later, the retail location store manager called me (clueless) with absolutely none of the details that were previously quoted to corporate. Finally, someone in Ohio (I suppose a higher ranking corporate representative) called to apologize, with no intention of allowing me to return the goods or offer a discount on future purchases. Hence, I will never shop in your stores again, neither Nordstrom nor Nordstrom Rack, you've just lost ~$1,000 per month from our family. Pittsburgh has sorely needed a Nordstrom Rack for a long time. When I heard where it was going I was very skeptical because Northway Mall was, well, a dump. However, the remodel into the Block is going quite well and the NR fits in nicely. I thought the selection of clothes was great in terms of style, but the size selection in the upper ranges (L/XL) was pretty abysmal, or just thoroughly picked over by the time I got in. I still managed to walk out about a hundred clams lighter, though. And the shoe selection was quite impressive, even in the larger sizes. I'm a fan. I'll be back. read more

I had never been to a Nordstrom Rack before, so was not entirely sure of what to expect. I was hoping to find more high-end clothing and shoes and was disappointed with their inventory, much of which included items that can be purchased at regular department stores and discount retailers. The store was disorganized, and its layout seemed similar to that of Marshalls and T.J. Maxx. They did have a small Burberry selection, so I will be back occasionally to look through their Burberry inventory. My overall opinion is that Pittsburgh's Nordstrom Rack is great for bargain shoppers, but not for customers looking for upscale designers. read more

The only reason this review is getting 1 star is because 0 is not an option. I had purchased some items with my debit card a few weeks ago and then wanted to return said items but no longer banked with that bank. I read the return policy on the receipt and online which stated that refunds will be returned to the original form of payment. I understood that but wanted to call to see if there was anything else that they could do. I called the store and spoke with someone who really wasn't sure so I was transferred to customer service. I spoke with a woman named Debbie who stated that although they don't normally do it that they would be able to honor my return in cash with receipt and my id. I then drove to the store with all the above mentioned items and the women at the register called over a supervisor who stated that she'd have to ask someone else "what else they could do for me" she came back out and stated that they can give me a gift card or send it back to the bank that I no longer bank with and then I would have to request a refund from them... I have attempted this with several other companies and have yet to get my money back from any of them so I wasn't willing to go that route. I spoke with the highest manager that they had on duty who basically told me that he was not willing to discuss it anymore and to basically leave. All while a security guard was coincidentally sent up front where I was standing. I understood that the store had a policy but that was why I called to see if there was any other options for me. It seems to me that these stores want to make people jump through hoops to get THEIR money back. When I bought the items it was out of my account before I even left the store but yet when I want my money back I'm told it'll be 3-5 business days minimum if I still had that account. The fact that I didn't means it would of been even longer... and how things have gone in the past I'm not confident that I would of ever got my money back. I have never been treated so poorly at a company that I thought was reputable. To be told one thing over the phone and then arrive at the store and be told something else is extremely frustrating. read more
