When we dropped items off on 6 or 7 occasions, the workers were helpful and friendly. The off-street parking was convenient although sometimes busy. Drop-off hours are somewhat limited (at this writing, 9-noon Mon, Tue, Thurs, and Fri), but we liked the place and arranged our schedule accordingly. We also had some larger items to donate, and checked the Second Harvest website before assembling donations in the garage. It was easy to go online and book a Second Harvest vehicle to come to the address. This service did cost money, but it was far less expensive than any other non-profit we tried. Online payment has an option to reschedule or cancel. The two men who visited the house were friendly, efficient, and strong. They accepted most of our items, and explained why they could not take certain things (all non-profits have similar rules, so this was understandable). Our goals were to help our neighbors, and keep useful and beautiful things out of landfills. I felt very comfortable donating to Second Harvest---everything from cutlery and clothing to a nice desk. I have faith that these items will go on to people who want and need them.

It is basically an antique shop however, they sell jewelry, gardening rods.and they specialize in furniture refinishing. She is also into estate sales and along with her assistant are able to transform a lot of "hard to part" with items into something reusable for an interested buyer. She showed me some of the wood pieces they had refinished and they also sell chalk paint if you wish to do the job yourself. She told me it was a good type of paint and she used it to paint her floor. She also does custom orders so if you aren't handy with refurbishing that old piece of furniture they will do it for you. She showed me some perfume bottles that were once sold in the old Kaufmann's department store. She sells a lot of brass items as well. I loved browsing and looking at the artwork made on some of the pieces and even some of the lamps they were selling. I was taken aback by a lovely picture frame that was made out of unwanted estate jewelry. I thought the frame was beautiful but I didn't want it to be overbearing. We tested it with a picture she had in the store and it really added to it. The one they had was 5x7 which she measured. I told her I had an 8x10 of my late mother but I have disposed of practically all her jewelry some time ago. She told me she could make a frame for me if I brought the photo in and custom design it. I also loved seeing the old hanging monkeys around an adorable rocking horse. Depending upon what you buy it can get to be a bit pricey. She told me the price is contingent on all the work put into it. The most important thing is that everything is final sale. I must stress that so know before you go. She told me that they got a lot of business before mother's day with families buying refurbished vases. There were only a few left and they were absolutely breathtaking! This shop is at the end of a one way street near Luke and Finch. You can either pay park in the metered lot or you get one hour free parking on the next street over which is one way the other direction. It is worth a visit and a good contact in the event you need handle an estate.

We recently decided as a family to dive back into collecting music, and we're already en route to the place a few doors down for LP's when we stopped in here. The LP's are not inexpensive, but if you carefully take them out of the jacket, you'll quickly see why: they are usually originals with zero visible flaws. These are NOT the bargain bin throwaway "I hope it will play" LP's that a lot of used stores sell - these are well cared for gems. I even saw a Coltrane "Giant Steps" first pressing there... like I said: quality. The same holds true for the vintage clothing - it's all well kept and in great condition! Will most definitely pay them a visit routinely to check out what they've added, so I can add to our small collection of legendary LP's.
