Let me start off by giving credit where credit is due. Shopping here is a positive experience... the store is quaint, smells pleasant (if you know you know), and has a wide array of items and selections. Butttt... Consigning here is frustrating, to say the least. The hoops you must jump through and the dates you must clock to finally get your commission check is outrageous. First, YOU must keep track online of what sells. Next, once YOU notice a sale, YOU must call in to "request" your commission of your item. Then, you must WAIT 90 days. After that 90 days, nope, you still don't get it yet, you must call in, again, to "re-request" your commission check. Next, almost there, you must receive a call back from the owner or manager to verify it and let them know you will be in that day or so to pick up your check. THEN, and only then, you may drive in to collect your check. By now, I'm mentally and physically exhausted... So, a great little shop but the policy on consigning needs a little tweaking! *** EDIT...... I have since dropped my 2 star to a 1 star because the owner got a little snarky and dishonest when commenting on my review... I did call on October 14, 2025, and I did bring an LV KeepAll in to potentially sell but then from there on you are not being 100% honest... At that October in store visit I was told to call about my check in mid January to get a specific date. When I called on January 6th, I was told then that the date was January 22nd but to call in a day before.. (like for what reason exactly? It's so redundant!) So, I called today on the 20th and was told verbatim by Kristina/Christina (sp?) that "The owner/manager would be calling me tomorrow on January 21st to verify my request and make sure that she can cut the check"!! It's at that point that I got frustrated and told her that it was at no fault of hers but that this checking, calling, and recalling policy just seems too much and is really annoying. She still insisted that the owner/manager still had to call me and I finally said "fine, whatever" and we ended the call. So it's not "deja vue" at all; I followed everything that I was told to do... I was told to call two different times and then that I'd get a call back to confirm. And that's what I did. But the cherry on top is that I said pretty much all nice things about shopping her store but in a forthright and semilighthearted way said that maybe the policy needed tweaking and she got so defensive and snarky and basically, instead of tweaking her policy, tweaked the truth... UPDATE TO THE CATTY OWNER.. Not hiding just haven't posted a review since 2012 so I added my full name and middle initial and a picture, you really got me!! But it's ok, dox me lol I don't care.. you're petty and insecure. Also I'm banned before I can pick up my check?! Are you a liar and a thief...?! I hope people know that's really what your contract is, just like your other 1 star review suggests, just a contract of mishmash so you can keep items and commissions!! And, I screamed at your employee?! Again, A LIE!! I stopped in this charming shop during my visit to Aspinwall. I had the opportunity to talk with…read morethe owner Madeleine Byers about what this small business has to offer. It is basically an antique shop however, they sell jewelry, gardening rods.and they specialize in furniture refinishing. She is also into estate sales and along with her assistant are able to transform a lot of "hard to part" with items into something reusable for an interested buyer. She showed me some of the wood pieces they had refinished and they also sell chalk paint if you wish to do the job yourself. She told me it was a good type of paint and she used it to paint her floor. She also does custom orders so if you aren't handy with refurbishing that old piece of furniture they will do it for you. She showed me some perfume bottles that were once sold in the old Kaufmann's department store. She sells a lot of brass items as well. I loved browsing and looking at the artwork made on some of the pieces and even some of the lamps they were selling. I was taken aback by a lovely picture frame that was made out of unwanted estate jewelry. I thought the frame was beautiful but I didn't want it to be overbearing. We tested it with a picture she had in the store and it really added to it. The one they had was 5x7 which she measured. I told her I had an 8x10 of my late mother but I have disposed of practically all her jewelry some time ago. She told me she could make a frame for me if I brought the photo in and custom design it. I also loved seeing the old hanging monkeys around an adorable rocking horse. Depending upon what you buy it can get to be a bit pricey. She told me the price is contingent on all the work put into it. The most important thing is that everything is final sale. I must stress that so know before you go. She told me that they got a lot of business before mother's day with families buying refurbished vases. There were only a few left and they were absolutely breathtaking! This shop is at the end of a one way street near Luke and Finch. You can either pay park in the metered lot or you get one hour free parking on the next street over which is one way the other direction. It is worth a visit and a good contact in the event you need handle an estate.
