I've been looking for a new brow threading place and after reading such high reviews about this place, I decided to stop in. I came here Saturday morning around 11 am and they already had a line. They had 2 workers and 3 customers getting serviced with 3 people waiting outside in line. I did not mind waiting but it seemed like everyone was waiting for Rachel. I did not have a preference who did my brows so I had my brows done by Rachel's co-worker and it was a huge mistake. Before she started doing my brows, I asked her to keep them natural looking and thick. When she finished doing my brows, I looked in the mirror and it was very obvious that they were not even. I told her one brow was significantly shorter than the other and her response was "It looks good shorter. You may need to fill it out with powder". Honestly at that point, the damage was done and I did not want her purposefully shortening my other brow just to even it out. I have had my brows done many times at other places and this has never happened to be before. It was clear she knew she messed up and did not want to admit it. I am SO disappointed with this experience, especially since I had high expectations based on prior reviews. I wanted the bare minimum- which was to have somewhat even brows and she couldn't even do that... I definitely will not be back to get my brows done by her. Now I will be growing my brows back out so someone else can fix the damage she has done. Based on the other reviews, it's clear a lot of people love Rachel but I cannot say the same about her coworker. Pricewise, it's $10 for brows which is the price I am used to. I had an experience that was not up to my expectations but I appreciate Rachel (technician) offering an explanation and apology. I would suggest that Rachel provides all clients of all genders the same experience. This means asking all clients what they want done, providing all clients a sense of hospitality, and making sure all clients leave happy without assuming they were satisfied. I love this place I'm from Maryland and I have never found a person who can perfectly shape my eyebrows like the lady here does!!!!!! This brow place is inside university mall and it was right by the entrance my friend and I came in through. The outside window didn't have the open sign on (at least today) but it was open so make sure you look inside before just seeing the open sign off. Also, use the entrance from inside the mall. On Sunday there were 2 Chinese ladies who were super nice and made sure we liked our brows. It was a lot more gentle than what I was used to which was a bonus. I clearly told the tech (which I believe she's the main lady here) that I wanted a CLEAN UP and rounded arch and tried to show her a picture of what I meant and she just rushed me and barely allow hats I said or looked at the picture and just sat me in the chair and took off SO MUCH - I did not feel listened to or acknowledged and left upset. The woman who I found offensive was not on staff either occasion (perhaps she is no longer with Style Brows?), and I really like the woman (who I believe is actually the proprietor) I've had recently. Decent job, but I was treated rudely here. As far as price, you can't beat $10 for a good eyebrow threading, hence the star. However, the service was the worst I've had in years. I was helped by a Chinese lady who jerked my face upward repeatedly instead of telling me gently to tilt my chin, and did the thing that I find most annoying when getting my brows done - she scolded me for doing them myself at home, because some of my stray hairs were too short. "Let us do it next time instead," she said. That would've been all fine and good if she stopped there, but then I heard her complain to her coworker in Chinese a couple times about my brows being "all messed up because I shaved them" (I don't, I tweeze, but semantics or whatever right?) So then, at the register, her coworker proceeds to berate me even more for doing my brows at home while I'm trying to pay, even telling me "Don't shave your eyebrows" and even at one point to "Control your hands" and to go in next time and let them do my brows. Really? Because I do what I want with my hands, AND my brows, for that matter. Please stop blaming the customer for what you're unable to take care of, and just work with what you have. And I, along with many of your other customers, will tend to understand that short hairs can't be picked up by threading. We aren't complete idiots. At the end of this unnecessary tirade, she even asked me if I wanted a stamp card, to which I replied "I don't live here". Hopefully, this led her to realize that she had just wasted two minutes of her breath. It was otherwise quiet in the place and I could feel the other customers staring as I left, which is why I felt that it would be less valuable to make a scene that they could all talk about later and dismiss with a laugh, and more valuable to write a bad review. I had to switch to threading now that I'm on retinol. I think I actually prefer this over waxing because I have sensitive skin. With threading, I don't have to go around with red blotchy skin around my brows for a whole day. Is it completely pain free? No, but I wouldn't say it's more painful than waxing, and it's certainly a lot gentler on the skin. The ladies here do a really good job with shaping my brows. I prefer a more natural look, and I come out of here looking better. Well-groomed brows can really frame your face. Earlier reviews note that this is a kiosk, but they moved into a store space a while ago. It's a little more private, but you're still sitting in one of three chairs right in the open. I think they have private rooms for waxing anything below your chin, though. At 10 bucks a pop, it's half what I paid for an eyebrow wax, so it's a really good value. PS, in case you aren't familiar with eyebrow threading, they literally use a piece of thread to remove hairs one by one. They form, like, a small triangle out of the thread to yank the hair out. If you look on YouTube, there are videos that show how it's done and tutorials for how to thread at home (which I'm not doing, I'll leave it to the professionals, thanks). But I figured I would share this since my mom thought eyebrow threading was literally using a needle and thread or something? I don't know. read more

After the first review and bad experience I was invited to come back by Rachel. This experience was a little difficult based off the language barrier, but overall the service was much better. I went back after receiving a horrible experience and witnessing a nasty episode by a 'LUCY'. So imagine my surprise when I went back today as invited to give a second chance and the lady behind the counter said she was Lucy. I was confused because this woman was not the same lady who told another customer to call her LUCY the last time I was there. So I would like to clarify this situation for those who ready and see that people are leaving bad reviews for a LUCY, that it may or may not be for the actual Lucy. I realized last time when the customer had asked the lady there what her name was that she tried to give another name at first. Back to my service today, well it was much better than last time because the lady was nicer and tried her best. The only qualm I had was the shaping skill was lacking but otherwise she did a decent job. The lady I had last time (not the 'LUCY') who performed the service on my eyebrows did a much cleaner job on getting the hair up. I would go back though. I highly recommend it -- the stylist was so attentive and really took her time to make sure everything was perfect. She even filled my brows in for me before I left! I usually go to Wow Brow in Durham, but I happened to be in University Mall so I thought why not. The lady that did my brows, Cindy, not only gave me the fastest service, but also did an AMAZING job. I was in and out, pain free, in 5 minute, I am not kidding. And her speed didn't get in the way of style!
