i took my Audi to this shop in feb after i bought the car to get some routine maintenance done on her. my ex girlfriends moms boyfriend recommend this shop because he was friends with them and told me they had experience with VW and Audi. i had them change out my timing belt, thermostat and water pump. they were super nice, friendly and got my car back to me with in 5 days and didn't charge me an arm and a leg for the work.
here comes the bad, well i am currently 640 miles away in California from home in Salem when my car started to over heat. took it to a repair shop down here and lone an behold the thermostat went out with less than 5,000 miles on it. they then started to rip apart my car to find that they not only buttered up all the allen bolts ether using a american allen key or a torx key, but because of that they didn't tighten down all the bolts to torque which they were shocked my water pump didn't explode off on my drive down here. not to mention i asked them to put in quality parts not no name stuff because this is my first "nice car" i wanted it done right because i plan on owning it awhile. no name on the timing belt and a cheap no VW certified water pump as well.
the underlining problem with why my thermostat stuck closed so soon is they put in the standard green coolant. which is a HUGE NO NO on cars with an aluminum block and heads. but that ruined the thermostat they put in 2,000 thousand miles ago which i would assume most people that work on VW and Audi's would know, but apparently not.
my advice: if you want cheap work done on an american car or a cheap a-beater that doesn't need attention to detail like my Audi does then take it there but i will NOT be taking my current or any future cars there for repair. read more
